From inside working out....not outside working in....I never trip out on philosophical statements about bboying...but this really struck me. Beautiful. I always visualized the step points as four corners of a box, six points just adds to the beauty. Thank you so much. This intuitively struck home on so many levels.
Thank you so much for voicing out what you said about bboy's you see don't dance for themselves and more from the pressure and outside influence. BBoying, any kind of dance for that matter, always comes from within. No one telling you what to do, how to do it. Just you, your music, and your flow. I'm still a novice, call it what you will, but this tut really helps, and I could show anyone else struggling or want a different way of viewing the way they dance. Keep it up Tyquan, thanks strifetv.
Way more interesting than the guide was what he actualy mentioned about the pressure from outside.. people have to feel the music, that´s what it is about... big props !! :)
Much love to Ty, my mello my man...Thats the Formula right there, I use an 8 point variation myself and have for years, adding a single point in the very front and back, akin to a compass. Knowing your directions and being able to flow smoothly from point A to point B and so on is a key to really opening up the toprock. Respect.
ur welcome...this was wat i was doin when i first got into breakin and tryin to learn toprocking.....just drillin different type of angles using those points around me...today its just natural when i get down now with more complex steps because by drillin simples basic steps im able to build a whole new vocabulary now just like learning the basic alphabet and you can be able to understand words and write stories
i had the same concept for sometime, i used the steps from the six step in to my toprock and from there i tried to create transitions. but this one is better and im gonna use it! thanks Tyquan :D
hey tyquan, thanks a lot for the knowledge and tutorial. I agree to everything you're saying, but its unfortunate that in a lot of competitions nowadays, the judges themselves don't even pay attention to these things. I mean you can toprock and ride the beat all day in a competition battle but when I ask the judges why we lost they would say 'you didn't even do anything that round', mainly because we didn't do anything big. I just wana know what your view is regarding this, thanks man peace.
well i will keep this short......look at casper, kmel, venum, cloud, floor phantom, roxrite, and so on.....their whole approach on how they execute their arsenals is to the music
Peace my brother. I wanna thank u for the six point tutorial. When I teach breakin I use dis method in my class and it seem to work for my student. Peace n keep ir head towards the heavens chapter 76 z's up all day
this is for a guide...This is for those who are beginners or the average who are stuck trying to come up with some combinations....you don't have to use it if you choose not to. Its just a guide...just like six-step for footwork...now for intermediate & advance...u can apply if u think it will help you out with a visual when u trying to create certain toprock step combos. again this is not the ultimate approach to toprock, it is just a guide for those to have a visual of different toprock steps
I use a 8 point approach - one straight in the front and back is missing with 6 points. So you have a cross and a cross turned at 45 degrees - each end of this "star" is one of my 8 points. Someone gets what I mean?
Wouldn't it be 8 Point Toprock because of the front and the back steps? Regardless of how minor the movement is it is still considered a step and shouldn't be excluded... not saying I'm more knowledgeable just asking/stating my opinion.
honestly ddr wasnt even on my mind until most of you posted its ddr...maybe the way strife tv drew the diagram but my intention is not even the ddr approach i never even done that ddr stuff before..if anyone seen my toprock like on the advance tip, its far from ddr...i guess when teaching someone six step is ddr too?
@peace019860 LMFAO did you really just say that?!?! Tyquan has SOnmuch flava!! He's one of he few cats who focus's on style at the same time as all the other elements! Haha go watch a vid or two, then delet your comment and apologize!
It's so reassuring to know that there are bboys out there who aren't stuck on the whole "go big or go home" aspect of bboying. Too many power heads out there and too little dancers.
yooo son watch you mouth , Tyquan would straight roast you... dont talk about swag , cause bboyin , dancing is not based off swag it come from your soul ..
lmao...dude this is a TUTORIAL...its not a tyquan trailer...when i teach especially beginner, i try to stay generic as possible....i dont want to teach people MY swag or else everyone would be doing my version instead of their version...but i guess u never seen me go all out before..lol trust me... kats been tryin to bite my swag for the longest now...lol

man the last thing Tyquan said was real. definitely hope that the young bboys out there take that concept to heart
This is one of the best explanations of what's going on in toprock for anybody new to breaking.
