    There are 4 posibilities:
    -One, is thart these black dots are MITES, parasitic mites that harm the ants, and suck their "blood". The soulucion for this problem will be, introuducing predator mites that eat the parasitic mites.
    -Two, is that maybe it's nothing that harm the ants.
    -There, is that the ants had internal desises. the soulution will be giving them some especial nectar, that make their inmune sistem stronger.
    -Four, is that they eat a type of food that makes their gasters look like that colour.

    • @AntsVienna
      @AntsVienna  4 года назад +1

      Thank you for mentioning! Yes, so far these are the possibilities. I think we can exclude no. 4 - so I have to try the other 3...

      @@AntsVienna and a question, the black dots are in the ants, or on the ants?

      Unfortunately in the ants - at random places

    • @GreenMantis27
      @GreenMantis27 4 года назад +1

      @@AntsVienna Ok, so the posibilities now are the number 2 and the number 3, becouse if the black dots are in the ants, they can't be mites, so I think that maybe the most acerted case is the nuber 2, and to confirm it, I had another question: do you see an encrese of deaths in the colony? if yes, the most probabole will be the option 3.

    • @AntsVienna
      @AntsVienna  4 года назад +1

      No, no increase in death numbers so far - maybe it takes some time to harm them (option 3). If they don't start dying out soon we can assume option 2 is valid. ;)

      Maybe its not a Flavus nest and instead an Umbratus colony?
      The black ant would make sense than. But not sure, Flavus and Umbratus worker look very similar.

    the wild lasius flavus colony that you found was actually lasius umbratus that we can see on the black ant not attacking the yellow ants

    • @AntsVienna
      @AntsVienna  4 года назад

      Wouldn't bet on that. The Lasius Flavus were probably just so shocked they didn't care about attacking it and it didn't attack either...

  • @oscarshipway2305
    @oscarshipway2305 4 года назад +1

    You do know that lasius flavus ants aren’t meant to have more than one queen ant because it could lead to queens attacking each other and getting injured and not wanting to lay eggs but I hope your colonies do well and that doesn’t happen but it might so be careful

    • @AntsVienna
      @AntsVienna  4 года назад +2

      It's actually not the Queens fighting but the workers sorting out the less productive queens. Putting them in a natural setup will give each Queen more space for herself (satelite nesting), allowing her to concentrate on laying eggs and therefore reduce the chance of the workers killing/expeling her. We already had a thorough discussion on this in the last video about them ruclips.net/video/Bp6GQig5u70/видео.html

    • @oscarshipway2305
      @oscarshipway2305 4 года назад +1

      AntsVienna oh yes when they are in a natural setup then they will be more separated and focus more on laying eggs. I have a question, how did you combine the queens of each colony without them killing each other or the workers attacking???

    • @AntsVienna
      @AntsVienna  4 года назад +2

      @@oscarshipway2305 I didn't exactly have to "combine" them. I had the luck to find all three Queens on the same day, just a few feet away from each other. So these 3 Queens are probably sisters and have been kept together by me since the day I've caught them and found the Colony together. :)
