Animal Investigation & Response saves 89 animals from unimaginable conditions

On Thursday, May 30, 2019 Animal Investigation & Response field team received an emergency request for assistance from a local north Texas law enforcement agency.
AIR’s emergency field team sprang into action and assisted with the seizure of 89 animals from deplorable conditions. Monica Ailey, President of Animal Investigation and Response, was horrified at
the conditions the animals were living in. She stated “In my 14 year career, I have seen a lot of bad things, but this was a whole new level of existence for any living being to endure.”
Responders had to wear hazmat suits and respirators to enter the home. For the safety of the Responders, each team could only be in the home 15 minutes at a time due to the lack of airflow and
high ammonia levels.
Since the seizure of the animals, they have been in the care of Animal Investigation & Response emergency sheltering team at an undisclosed location in Decatur TX. The team, made up of a 100%
(highly skilled) volunteer base, have been caring for the large group of animals daily. They are receiving
the love and attention they need and crave. The animals have also been examined and vetted by AIR’s medical team. They have received baths and grooming by a local pet grooming company (PetLove) who sent 5 mobile units to help! The animals are well on their way to a brighter future and will be placed with Rescue Partners. These partners will place them up for adoption so they can begin their new lives

Animal Investigation and Response is a 501(c)(3) animal protection organization that assists law
enforcement, animal control agencies and communities with large scale animal cruelty issues, as well as,
disaster relief. Based in Texas, Animal Investigation and Response was formed by two certified animal
cruelty investigators who saw a need to help connect agencies with strategies and resources to
investigate as well as provide aid for situations that exceed the scope of a community’s reach. Our
services are at no charge to the requesting agency. We do this so the animals have a better outcome for
a much brighter future and communities have a positive option for animals in large scale cruelty or
