"I thought that this would last for a million years
But now I need to go
    Oh, fuck"
The instrumental after seems like crying after being able to hold it through the whole song.

I saw him play this live in Atlanta as the closer to his show. On the front row right beside me was a little girl, maybe seven or eight, who he had clearly seen. At the end of the song, he looks away from the crowd and says the "oh fuck" not into the mic I assume so as not to be too crass in front of this little girl. He plays the big instrumental finish and then hands her the pick he used instead of just tossing it into the crowd. After a night of being the troubadour, the vivid bright performer, he ended on a human and relateable impulse by taking time to be nice to a little girl.

Man when all the instruments join in at 3:50 - gets me every time
a rare thing for The Tallest Man on Earth to use other instrument, I have always wondered how he would sound with other musicians.

In this time of sorrow in my personal life, I find comfort in this beauty.
Perfectly tuned, perfectly written, perfectly layed down and perfectly sung.
This is as close as any musician can get to absolute perfection.
Thank you, Kristian, your songs always help me through the hard times.
You're a gift from the heavens.

    • @markengel33
      @markengel33 8 лет назад

As a musician, what I get out of this music is there is no such thing as absolute perfection and striving for that is useless. I feel comforted about my own music in the same way you do about your life :) Have a nice day!

I think I've heard him curse in some live performances before but whats with the potty mouth all of a sudden?
Im definitely not bothered by it but just surprised

    • @thatmoorefella4625
      @thatmoorefella4625 9 лет назад +5

+msfattytroll Actually, from what I heard he didn't really write the fuck down, he was just so overcome by emotion during the song that he said it on the spur of the moment.
Might not be true but I kind of like the story.

+Bobby Jo Valentine Dude, Yesss!! I'm exactly on the same page. This is the best part of the song. When I heard this live I could barely take it, the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up. So fucking gooooood!!!!

This has been one of my husband's favorite songs for a long time, but it took on new meaning after we lost our daughter. Makes me cry and remember the happiness we had with her and how she'd want us to remember her for her life and not her death every time

The chord progression in stunning. And the whole song is such a beautiful metaphor about Kristian's style change and his growth not just like an amazing songwriter, but also as a man. Luckily this is not the end, this is fine. But I should say this is awesome. Can't wait to see Tallest live!

Andrea Bortolozzo Thats one way of interpreting it. But to me this is a break up song. I think the same with Sagres. The whole album is probably going to sound like a break up album to me.

Beautiful closer to bring the curtain down on a stunning album. Speaks volumes that I love this song yet it doesn't make my top 5 songs from the album. Man's a genius.

"And so there were no higher mountains
    It's all in your hand
    Valley was a future sea
And now sail is the plan
And in this travel with no journey
    I lose 'til I'm light
Letting go of mind to have
    What I'm keeping now
    [Chorus 1]
And suddenly the day gets you down
But this is not the end, no, this is fine
We're still the towers in the valley
    Still winds down this dream
Still we're in the light of day
    With our ghosts within
    [Verse 2]
And there are many ways of sorrow
    For just stepping out
    Everyday a growling storm
    But they're kind somehow
I fall in love but keep on falling
    I held you for life
But letting go rope in hand
    There’s just leaving now
    [Chorus]
And suddenly the day gets you down
But this is not the end, no, this is fine
Still we're biking, laugh in memories
    Still winds down the stream
Still we're in the light of day
    With our ghosts within
    [Verse 3]
And when there’s no one on the bottom
    You got there alone
Kicking up some dust to see
    Where a wind could blow
And all the ways to ride a lightning
    I've used up a few
And I just want you to be safe
    As I thunder through
    [Chorus]
And suddenly the day gets you down
But this is not the end, no, this is fine
We're still the towers in the valley
    Still winds down this dream
Still we're in the light of day
    With our ghosts within
    [Outro]
No, this is not the end and no final tears
    That we need to show
I thought that this would last for a million years
But now I need to go
    Oh, fuck"

Sometimes the Blues is Just a Passing Bird
    but now...
    (The) Dark Bird is Home
Sounds like a metaphor for Kristians inner peace. Sometimes the blues is just a passing bird, but for some the bird will never leave.
