Then I realized that I put one of the internal screws in wrong and needed to reopen to swap screws. Didn’t realize I snapped it in half till I turned it back on.

you got my sub. already done everything to my deck, but your video is just clear and to the point. btw, is that a custom 3d print tray that you put under the sd? or you bought it online?
Thanks so much! It's a custom made tray for my deck that I created (fully 3d printed) . It also have tpu (silicone type of material) supports where the joysticks are face down so nothing will get scratched. I find working on the deck is way easier when having it perfectly flat
Ill do this when I buy a second one. I cant risk going without gamepass and my new love for the Steam Community and for CS-GO. Keeps me from smoking and drug use. Not gonna sugar coat it. I bought a new hobby and the reward is gaming and learning Linux. I actually talk and team up online with people for once. Just found this channel. Look forward to opening a deck soon. Just not my only deck...ya know?
That's awesome to hear that the Deck has taken the place of far worse hobbies. It's cool you're so honest. Thanks for checking out my channel I super appreciate it and I 100% understand cannot take a chance with the only daily driver . I feel you man . Thanks again for your comment
just ordered a solder station, adjustable helping hand, and some rosin flux so I can finally install this into my steam deck. Next I will be going after the anti-glare screen used in the 512 GB model and placing it into my 64 GB model. Then I will add a transparent red back plate. Already added a 1 TB nvme drive. I see these sticks as an upgrade for my deck, since hall effect sticks not only never drift, but also happen to be more accurate as well.
Why so many comments on all videos that say “quick, clear, concise, to the point video!” I am starting to think bots are taking over YT’s comment sections
I don't know about you all, but I've been inducted into the steam deck trackpad master race. My thumbs always hurt using a joystick (growing up I was a keyboard and mouse player, so I don't have years of experience with controllers). Yes, I know I am pushing them too hard wanting my character to move faster lol. But, it's a hard habit to change. Long story short, the steam deck trackpads are perfect. No joystick drift and not thumb pain. I know this has nothing to do with anything, but I wanted to share. Also, if anyone has tips on how to break the habit of using a joystick in a way where your thumb hurts, please do let me know!
Thanks for your info on this, I never really personally tried to break the habit of using thumb sticks. If you haven't tried to steam controller, it sounds like you would be up your alley. They use pretty much over glorified two huge left and right track pads. Kind of like the steam deck but with one less joystick.
You can get silicone/rubber joystick caps. JSAUX caps will keep capacitive sensing for gyro. I prefer convex tops, so for my left joystick, I adhered a rubber dome drawer bumper, and secured it with an earbud foam pad. I love using the right trackpad for aiming: faster, precise turning, no deadzone, no drift. Just see the videos on my channel :)
very nice quick and calm tutorial. have the sesors in my deskdrawer waiting but dont have a reason yet to change them out. as soon as i will i will use your tutorial. new like and subscribtion from me ;)
@@fairplayer916 If one didnt solder the wires back to the board. The capacitive touch would not work on the sticks (meaning the sticks can sense when you have your thumbs on them) this is used for the gyros. If one leaves the wires unsolder they cut out gyro functions. Thanks for your question
Please friend, can you tell me if it's really worth the exchange? Did you notice any downsides? And does it work well in games? Did you notice something bad playing a game? PLEASE
To me it is, I've been using this for about 5 months straight and it has been a better upgrade for me. The travel distance is very short. It feels like I'm playing on my Xbox elite controller but on the steam deck. Even though it has an issue of having squared wide areas if you rotate max distance. I haven't seen where it has messed me up in games . Ultimately it's your decision but imo I'm still loving the change
@@RetroRepairYT thanks for answering, i found out that my joysticks are type B, in that case do you recommend the exchange? because I heard that Gulikit joysticks are for type A. What do you recommend I do? When you made the switch, were your joysticks type A or type B?
@@EuRafaelGomez since you have type B sticks you will have to wait until Gulikit releases the type B version (I checked twitter and there site, not sure a release date). My sticks were type A
It is not, only if you are removing something that you have to take the metal shield off for such as your hard drive or fan replacement. Tbh, I've swapped my sticks out about 4 different times at this point and have never had a failure to boot or non responsive joysticks
everything looks super simple except for the soldering. i wish there were modules already soldered for easier switch of the module.i would gladly pay extra for that.
I really do wish they would do a drop in replacement. I valve ever decides to sell the caps only. I am sure that would be a motivating step forward for the manufacture
I'll give you the TLDR version. They run off of magnets and will never develop drift. They also have very short dead zones which means you can use a wider range on your joystick.
I can understand that anxiety. I would suggest finding a device in your home that is broken and opening it and strip a loose wire and just soldering it to a contact on the broken device and keep doing that (soldering on and off in different spots) until you feel confident. It's the same procedure that you will end up doing on those sticks that arrived. Some tips would be try not to burn the board and only apply enough heat to melt the solder. And the biggest tip is when in doubt use flux on anything you're soldering or desoldering. I wish you the best of luck. You can do this
@@Gummelgimp it does a little bit but you have to flood the area with solder which can turn out messy and result in unwanted connections or blobbing. When finished with your soldering make sure to clean with IPA well I recommend 90% and up if you can get your hands on it :)
