Gareth Southgate has selected his final Euro 2024 squad:
Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale, Dean Henderson.

Lots of people saying that Dunk isn't good enough here. But if you want a big calm lad to both lead the defensive line and grind out a winning lead... I think he'll be better than the young and talented players. Having someone with the years and experience in defence to instruct the other lads is vital - despite him not being as technical or fast

What the hell are you talking about Jack Grealish is England's best player. If it was not form him Monday's game with a finish 1-0. Jack had a vital hand in both the goals. I personally think he's a lot better than Bukayo Saka.

As it stands, that defence is mediocre at best and I'd be amazed if it gets beyond the semis. The only hope is the attack has a blinder and blows sides away.
Agreed, Quansah partnered VVD (probably the best CB in the World) this season, playing 33 games and 17 in the Prem. Southgate needs to take lessons from Klopp, "if they are good enough they are old enough"

I think 3 goalkeepers is too much. FIFA should reduce the number to 2 for every team. Goalkeepers rarely get injured and most of them are bench warmers. They are just making up the numbers when you actually are short on outfield players.

Nope. If your main keeper gets injured you need one in training sessions with the team whilst the replacement main keeper rests.

@@siheard4206it is a big deal to bring 3 keepers simply becuz it's a position u can't compensate. U can play outfield players out of position but ur quite handicapped if ur play someone outfield in goal. Bringing 3 keepers is commonsense

Branthwaite not being in the squad is a bizarre omission, particularly considering how weak England's defence looks.
Unfortunately it's the defence that's the issue, you could pick numerous squads from midfield and the forwards, yet they defence is going to be players who don't play with each other it's going to be a nightmare against good sides.
Good luck to Luke Shaw. United have just gone an entire season without a proper Left Back and had our worst league finish ever but I’m glad to see this guy was able to get fit in time for Euros! (Complete sarcasm). Freaking Aaron Wan Bisaka deserves to be there more that Luke Shaw are you kidding me

To be fair I think overall that’s a good squad. Defence is slightly questionable, but it’s not terrible. Were fortunate to have so much quality with Bellingham, Foden, Saka, Mainoo and so on

Alexander -Arnold in central midfield instead of right back which he plays at Liverpool is inspired move by Southgate.
Considering the players he picked . I’d said he’s got it about right but personally I would have dropped shaw and would have kept braithwaite but let’s be really fair I think the original squad that needed to be trimmed down there has to be a few questions about that original selection. To only name Luke shaw as your only left back option, lack of desire to let tomori be looked at even in friendlies and some would argue maybe about Ben whites situation and lack of clarity. But overall we’ve been asking him to pick on form. On the whole I think he’s just about done that. Let’s see if the other lessons of the mistakes he has made in the past have been learnt.

With the Luke Shaw inclusion, he is really a massive benefit in the changing room, even if not match fit. Of any 26, there will be players who don't get on the pitch, in all teams. But some players have such a positive influence on the team dynamic that they get the nod ahead of match fit players, as mad as that sounds. Mark Wood from the England cricket team is a perfect example. Just being there in the changing room will have an impact that you can't quantify. Invaluable, and only increase the chances of doing something of significance. After Man Utd won the FA Cup, you couldn't help but notice the bromance between ETH and Luke Shaw. Get a room! So obviously, although injured and hasn't played much of this season, he's still able to contribute to the team. That's what I take from this. But then again, I talk alot of bollox as well. So, there you go.

If Shaw isn't fit enough for a brief run out in a warm up game then how will he be fit enough when the real thing starts on 16th June? I can see him being kept under wraps until the knockout stage, then breaking down with a recurrence of the same injury 10 minutes into his first appearance.
