Such a random thing to think about amidst... everything that's happened, but I felt the fact of Thomas swearing actually, kind of fits his character in an unrestrictive setting. Recall, when Thomas was first created, he was meant to be a hotheaded little bastard. So if you infer Thomas's artificial age is meant to be around that preteen age, him being a touch vulgar actually kinda makes sense. It's such a weird detail I honed in on, but I think it actually helped add this sense of realness that made me feel connected to him that much more in this horrifying experience, and why I respect the little guy for what he goes through later. In spite of going through this awful mutation and having his home devastated, he didn't go insane or anything like that. He remained steadfast and true to himself. And it makes it all the sadder that he'd just go and lose both Percy and Toby too, his best friends. My poor heart goes out to this little guy for having so much be taken from him.
