@@kojikobura just went back to listen to it, you're not wrong. I just think yours was too loud so its more noticeable. i did not even pick up on it in the original.
For all of you who say “the open hit hat is offbeat in the song”, in the song it’s a 16th before the measure ends. This is why it works in the actual song, but here not so much.
jeffcheenis the hat is not offbeat on the actual song. It’s on the & of 4 ( if you count 1&2&3&4&). It’s on the “upbeat”. This cover has the hat a little ahead of the & of 4. And it’s actually very annoying 😂. Throws the whole video off tbh.
Everything you need is on RUclips, brother. Look for music production tutorials. Learn how to use a DAW. Basic Music theory tutorials are very useful too.
The key is the software. The DAW. I'm using Studio One here. The "cheap synth" (actually a midi controller) is not that relevant. Learn how to use a DAW. That's how you produce your music. I like Duran Duran too. 😉
Music production and sound design tutorials help. You just pay attention to the sounds and then try to remake them using presets, samples or from scratch. There are "obvious" and easy instruments you can identify like flutes, strings, guitars, etc. Use your ears. 😉
@kojikobura iwas wondering where you get all the soundpacks from ? That makes your covers sound like the actual instruments. Are they already loaded onto ableton ?
Ima clear this open hat debate up. In the original, the open hat is syncopated, meaning it's on the up beat as opposed to the down beat (1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 hat) In this video, the open hat is off beat. It comes in about a 1/4 note too early (making it between the '4' and the 'hat', when it should be on the 'hat'). In the original, the second open hat of every phrase comes in slightly off time, it's only just noticeable when you listen for it. I'd guess it comes in an 1/8th note too early at most. This is barely noticeable to an untrained ear that isn't paying too much attention to every detail of the production. The open hat is noticeably off in this video though. Obviously the guy wanted to match the song but got the timing only a little wrong, a 1/4 note at most wrong, but still wrong enough for it to be obvious.
