Can I access Comcast Now TV from a web browser on my desktop? Watching on a phone app is too much like watching on the early 1950s TVs with the tiny screens for my taste.
I was interested in the 20$ deal from Comcast - unfortunately, the link in your show notes doesn't work. So I did the unthinkable and called their support phone line - suffice it to say that I now realize why I cut the cord with them in the first place years ago. I talked to three different parts of their support - sales/support/cable - non of them had a clue about the $20 offer - BTW it's called Now TV - I wound up with the retention department and she at least had heard of it - and by that time I had found it on their website. I misunderstood and thought it included local tv channels - it was only for the "junk" channels I hardly ever watch. Ho Hum = it provided a little entertainment for a few minutes finding all this out... Thank you for the heads up = you might mention that it is not for local tv channels for other people like me...
I priced it out with 200 mbs internet and it was $45 with no hidden fees. Michigan doesn't have any taxes on internet services. I would like to know if you can pay for more dvr space. 20 hours sure isn't enough for us.
Thank you so very much for this info. I have Comcast wanting to get rid of my high azz bill. So i just got the fire stick. Thank you so very much for sharing this!!! Much love to you and the family.🤗🌹❣️🌷
@@timtrozzo9973 I had Spectrum's streaming service (available to customers who had their internet service), and it had a local broadcast TV fee. I cancelled after that fee had risen above $20 per month.
The problem I see with Comcast's new streaming, is the core problem with Cable is that channels aren't worth paying for. Low quality shovelware content, much of which is available over antennas, and 1/3 of the time is commercials. Personally, I don't need channel packages. The channels are cranking out too little "must watch" content for the price, when you throw in commercials.
I subscribed as soon as i saw it. There are some hiccups. 1. The Chromecast feature is slow. 2. App isn't the best friendliest. 3. The Flex box does not load up the Xfinity Stream app at all. I have used Friendly often and I think that it is a better option right now. Hopefully they will add some more channels and get the bugs fixed.
RUclips tv has the best layout and a great lineup of channels but I've gone back and forth to Sling because they have the few sports channels I need. I like the option to choose between the orange, blue or both package. Although they would probably keep me more as a consistent customer if they put FS1, TBS, TNT, USA, the ESPN channels all on 1 package. Sling is the more affordable option though for the sports I need!
I agree that the OVERALL Layout of RUclips TV is way better and the DVR is better.... I had Sling TV and I absolutely HATED the interface and the DVR sucked......I was going to stick with it due to the price but it was way too annoying to use the interface so I switched..... such a shame too because the price was right.
Comcast always has been bad experience with them , the raised up the prices down the road just like their bro Verizon, stay away from both of these companies, they master of price increase or extra fees here or there! i have you tube TV since 2017 when i cut the cord & still says BEST of the BEST piss on the rest! of course u go cheaper BUT they takeaway channels & FEATHERS so DUH!
@SFbenjaminK yeah, but not like they used to be $50 too. But how many actual channels do you really watch? Nick Jr bravo a&e lifetime hallmark an food network kinda channels that majority of people won't ever watch across the board. It's sports that's keeping cable alive that and convenient cable boxes.
@SFbenjaminK yeah I literally got it for the NBA Playoffs (ESPN and TNT) and Sling had a special for $20 bucks this year for playoffs. I watched a little bit of soccer on USA. Canceled it before the finals since the finals are on ABC. I use my digital antenna for that. I will do the same for MLB playoffs. Again I'm just looking for a few sports channels to watch 2-3 months a year (playoffs). I pay for the NBA season pass and I get MLB and MLS through T mobile. Most sports are on streaming apps these days.
I have to figure out what to keep and what to get rid of soon. I’ve been a cord cutter for over a year. Cable was $220 plus I had Netflix and Hulu and Disney Plus. Now I pay Optimum (NY) $117 for the Wifi. They supplied the equipment. I want to check Best Buy to see if I can but my own Router and Modem to lower the cost. I love Philo because it has A&E. So I will keep it. RUclips makes me crazy because I travel to Texas for 6 months and RUclips will only let me watch for 3 months. My family in Texas has RUclips so I can watch but I don’t have all my favorite settings and DVR programs available to me. I have to figure out a way to set up antenna so I can get the only channels I watch on RUclips, CBS, NBC, ABC. I turned RUclips off for the three months because I couldn’t access my account. It will come back on the end of June at the higher price. Customer Service was useless. I also pay for the following that I don’t use enough or at all: Netflix Hulu/Disney Apple TV Discovery Plus/Showtime Paramount Plus Hallmark Now Amazon Prime It cost about $270 + the Wifi cost. I think I’m at a mind set that these channels are available if I should want to watch something. I have a Fire TV Stick both in NY & Texas I would love to get rid of RUclips it went up to $72.99. They all went up. I’m a senior, fixed income, and I don’t know if I could manage setting up an antenna, but I will try. Can you recommend an easy to set up antenna? The TV is what I do, so, I’ll re-evaluate when I return to NY at the end of June. But I think I might cut everything but Philo Paramount Plus, Hallmark Now and my Amazon Prime is part of my Amazon account. I just don’t watch enough of the all the fluff that I pay for now. I can watch my shows a day late on Paramount + and I have been watching CBS New York News on Pluto but you can’t pause live TV on Pluto, very annoying. Any ideas? Sorry this is so long. Everyone enjoy you day.
Why in the heck would they not just offer a streaming offering to everyone and take on RUclips TV, FuboTV and Sling? They could offer a completely free offering like Pluto, a "light" offering that competes with Frndly and Philo (like this new one) and a complete add on that would compete with Sling, RUclips and Fubo. I am sure the contracts would need to be renegotiated, but they are in a position to really give consumers choice- even outside of their internet footprint.
My thoughts exactly until my sister who used to work in advertising for DirecTV explained it to me. These cable companies sign multi-year advertising deals with companies and if their base number of subscribers drops below the percentage set forth in the contract the advertiser has the option to cancel the contract. So the cable companies in an effort to curtail the effects of cord cutting offer another service that sounds appealing to consumers, but make them have to also sign up with the cable company for other services.
Anyone else having trouble with the new MAX app "continue watching" not working? I watch a lot of series and it consistently kicks back to S1 E1, or doesn't show up at all forcing me to have to go into "Search" to find my show an try to remember where I left off. I am watching on a Roku device.
The new Comcast streaming service has a double miss, No Roku, and you have to be a Comcast customer to use it. Way better off with Philo or FriendlyTV. I am a Fios customer, and would never go back to Comcast internet.

@CordCuttersNews Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this what Xfinity Stream was supposed to be? If I can recall, it seemed as though it was like 5 or 7 years ago that Comcast was BETA testing their product known as Xfinity Stream which offered current Xfinity customers the availability to watch their channel package and DVR via this product. It was also mentioned at that time along with rumors way back when that would also launch as a stand alone competitor to Philo.

I've got Hulu+Live, love all the sports content. They incorporated ESPN+ into Hulu Live, so I don't have to switch apps. Sling was pretty good, but they only had one live local, the NBC was an on-demand, they did away with that, though, so Sling had to go. The only thing I don't like about Hulu Live is the DVR, it used to let you keep recordings forever, now it's only nine months. With some shows being pulled from the streaming library to go onto the other studio's streaming service, if I want to watch those shows, i have to get another streaming service rather than leave them on the DVR indefinitely.
HULU user interface is terrible. Also problems with the DVR. Missing recordings, unable to stop series recording, etc.. All well documented in their forums. Sling is great if you can live without locals.
How does this help cord cutters in other countries? Can we access the channels via a VPN and a US address? Nice channel BUT many (most?) of your content will not apply outside of the USA...
I find a combination of YTT and Sling is the best. I use YTT for football season (suspend in Jan) and march madness (in order to keep it suspended till fall 6 months is the most you can go) and sling for little things like USFL for a month or 2. Once ESPN goes solo in future then YTT will only be used for football (pro and college to include Sunday ticket). As for the writers strike, considering the state of woke trash movies nothing of value has been lost. Let them burn in the cauldron of Bud Light... LMAO...
I really wish sling tv would let me completely customize the guide by leeting me add and delete channels as well as rearrange the channels. Im aware of the "favorites" but it only lets you see those channels alphabetically which is insanely idiotic.
Since RUclips TV came out with it's new setup, I have once again switched back to them, from Hulu. My only problem with Hulu is their horrible DVR. Hulu customer service being nonexistent doesn't help the problem. I would switch back to Hulu immediately if they fixed their DVR. Every time Hulu raises it prices I think they'll take care of the problem but they don't. Extremely disappointing.
What was wrong with your DVR? I hate that hulu has changed it to be the same as youtube's, but at least Hulu's DVR lets you record/delete single episodes.

@@LuvtheJEm So true but the new RUclips now has less grief for less money. Also, when RUclips raised it's rates it made improvements. Not so with Hulu.
Hulu is tied to Disney and Disney is crashing so I find this review biased in an extreme way. Reality TV is scripted or guided most of the time to make it more dramatic and attractive to those who crave voyeuristic drama in their lives. That's certainly not me, lol. I have absolutely no use for fake-reality TV. I feel bad for anyone loosing their job in this terrible economy but I certainly don't feel bad for stockholders and corporate management of any cable company. Their bloated charges and unethical tactics will prevent me from ever having any mercy for them as a business model. I have pretty much given up on live TV except for what's available already installed on my Samsung TV. I truly don't know what service they're using. My local news/weather channel streams so all I really need from live broadcasts are ALL my local NFL team games to be happy. 4K is a priority, but I know that's not likely in football. The Comcast deal sounds good but I am still waiting for a fiber line to be run up the mountain. Ultimately, I don't think Comcast services my area anyway but if they did then the top tier Peacock service would make it a "no brainer" at the $20 price point. I think any streaming service that offers 4K, no ads and desirable content or at least the option to opt out of undesirable ones is at a reasonable price point with a $20 rate or less. Thanks again for keeping us all up to date with the current state of the industries related to the public cable rebellion.
obviously they haven't asked in the last month because Hulu Live is horrible. Their DVR service has been so bad for the past few wks, it made me have to cancel. If you can't record things correctly, why even offer the service?
I don't like reality, its fictionality to me. I don't watch live TV anymore, no cable tv and internet phone. Being, unfortunately, a Comcast internet subscriber still.

Unless you’re a comcast internet person who can’t go towards there 20 service.
obviously they haven't asked in the last month because Hulu Live is horrible. Their DVR service has been so bad for the past few wks, it made me have to cancel. If you can't record things correctly, why even offer the service?
I am in the Bay Area.❤
YTTV
all and more.❤
I don't like reality, its fictionality to me.
I don't watch live TV anymore, no cable
tv and internet phone.
Being, unfortunately, a Comcast internet subscriber still.
Every reality show uses writers there is no such thing as a writer free tv show
That is what I was thinking.
Comcast trying to win people with HGTV and Magnolia added. Philo and friendly give us WAY MORE FOR THE SAME amount. I'm good. They gotta do better.
DirecTV stream of you negate price is the best app.
