    Some of these scams have what we economists call a negative project consequence. Just by doing a simple Cost-benefit analysis (CBA), the costs in pulling this scam far outweighs its returns. For starters renting the van, stake out room and procuring the machines would make the split of £ 1,000 amongst the individuals so insignificant that they’d have made more doing a casual day job

      @user-ec2kd8sz3t 6 лет назад +18

      I agree, wtj83tw, maybe they've exhausted all the realistic scams.
      They're basically proposing that four people rent a van (can't use one you own, and you'll probably have to either use fake number plates or get an unsuspecting sucker to rent it to you), an office of some kind (gotta have the keys, oh and also have to hide your identity while doing this and pay for a security deposit and probably a one month rent at least... last time I checked no one rented offices on a high street by the day), arrange a costume, buy some props (expensive lamps, homeless outfit, official looking law enforcement gear), then two of the four risk five years in prison and a 1000 pound fine (possibly more) impersonating police officers in addition to the actual scam and theft they are orchestrating in an attempt to make 1000 pounds.
      The premise is ludicrous. It would almost certainly cost them more than 1000 pounds to pull off between all the gear they've got to buy, renting the office and renting the van, then they've got to actually pull off the sting which can only be done once, then they all have to get out of town.
      I mean congrats (I guess), the show tricked this dude, but he was onto them from the time he met the second dude, and he did the right calculations in his head. "What could these people possibly be trying to pull on me? Worst case scenario I lose 1000 pounds, if everyone is impersonating someone else, they're paying everyone and all this equipment is fake and the van is a farce, it just wouldn't make sense. It's so illogical they wouldn't possible pull off a scam that would lose themselves money." The only thing he overlooked is that he might be on television.

      They're certainly not using one of their actual offices or homes. Which they occupy long enough to set up and run the con. Which, I'd wager, is a 4 hour ordeal at minimum.
      Renting commercial or residential space, especially *furnished* property, gets pretty expensive. Even worse, most require credit and background checks.
      Now you gotta get into making up identities......fuck that. Not for a few grand.

    so after deducting the cost of renting the second floor of a property overlooking an exchange place, as well as decorating equipment, the wire and the UV light, then splitting the fees for the participants - the profit will be what exactly?
    This is assuming that one of the scammers already owns a van otherwise that too will be an expense
    also this is a one time only scam because the location will be known to police after the victim has been robbed
    also there is paperwork associated with renting property that will have a name on it which the police can very easily access
    good scam then.

Stupid if you fall for this shit!

  • @swanclipper
    @swanclipper 6 лет назад +9

    if you ever find yourself in this situation, it's simple to demand the accusers to give you their money. as long as the operation is legit, they will never need your cash. as long as it is legit, they would not need you to do anything apart from being the middle man.
    Hustlers of all kinds will try to impress you, encourage you, intrigue you and deliver words which make you feel like you have something to prove.
    "pretend to be a sucker" is only mentioned AFTER you have been told you're already a sucker. if you're told by strangers that you're being taken for a ride, ignore them and tell them if they want to catch the true culprits, they can approve finances from the head of their operation. civilian money is not civilian concern. the only concern is if you knew it was fake. if you're entirely innocent and just a victim, you have nothing to prove and nothing to to lose.
    it's the whole "there are sweets in my van kids, come on in." trick. if you think you're gaining something, you'd do it. these people don't do things in secret, they want to put pressure on criminals, it's how criminals make mistakes. Legit money transfers from unknowing victims, are nothing to do with the victim. if you spend fake money and get accused of doing it on purpose, it should be simple as pie to detail how and when you got those notes. a real criminal, or someone who knows the money is fake, will be vague and misleading. kind of how a Hustler would behave when telling a mark they're being scammed once, twice, again and again.
    i can't say i'd never fall for this shit. but this particular shit, is something i'd never fall for. my privacy is way to important. i don't have to give up any of my time or any of my ownership, to help cops catch crooks.
    besides. i like criminals. they are just doing shit like that because the society they live in didn't appreciate them and they got theirs as revenge on the same shitty society. if you're marked and you get scammed, it sucks, i feel for you. but in the end, i'm still applauding the crooks, shaking hands and giving them a thumbs up. the criminal underworld wouldn't be so dirty if society was more inclusive. again, it sucks for the mark, but that's it.

    They let him have the wire? In a real scam there shouldn't have that bit.

    • @necessaryevil7777

      the wire and the envelope are perfect things to leave him, the wire still being on him makes him believe his money is still safe in the envelope

    Why aren’t they doing another series of this? This programme is sooo old yet 126k followers & loads of view on these old vids. Yet there’s all this crap on tv. All three of them aren’t doing much either, just start a new series

    • @TheMexicanMaverick
      @TheMexicanMaverick 6 лет назад +7

      MrBlageur it could be to do with the fact there was a news article not so long ago about how 80% of the clips shown are fake and many actors appear twice in a couple of the scams it kind of puts you off watching it especially longer ones like this!

    • @MrBlageur
      @MrBlageur 6 лет назад +5

      TheMexicanMaverick even so though, they could bring it back but do it for real. Even better ! Even if I wasn’t real, it would be nice to the updated scams now technology has moved on to avoid in 2018
