Great video! Right to the point! I hate videos of people yammering for 3 minutes explaining crap. I freaking KNOW i need a socket. I'll figure out what size. 😂

Only thing I would add is some recommended tools for newer viewers. Not sure if the average joe has a set of snap ring pliers($5-15 at Harbor Freight)
    DIY:
    - Pick set or tiny screw drivers
    - Sharp tweezers for lining up the snap rings for reinstallation
    - Depending on the replacement part, the gas strut may need to be primed before install

I own 3x R129 and never knew the armrest had a shock in center console. I'll need to replace them all

Hello, I recently purchased a 98 SL600 and cannot get my arm rest to open. It doesn’t appear to be an issue with the vacuum system since the side button to open locks/unlocks and the front portion comes unlatched when attempting to open. It’s the back half that refuses to release and I’m not sure what could be causing this and I’m afraid to pry it open with force.
    Any advice?

After remove the 4 screws I was blocked by the armrest button. Any advice on how to remove it? Or go around the button?

I dont understand what you mean. You pull the whole frame out of the space- the release button at the side stays inside the car. The button that makes the armrest slide backwards and forwards is accessible only by removing the screws from underneath the armrest which has nothing to do with fixing the gas strut.

@michaeldavis7199 thanks. I finally got it. Just needed a little patience to squeeze out. Mine was a tight fit.
