Spent a year maintaining the C-7 Caribou in Vietnam in 1970. An extremely tough bird that hauled everything from ammo to goats. Met some Aussies while there too. Great people.
Miss these old birds....haven't see one fly in real life for over 30 yrs. Recall them as a child. Never got to fly in one sadly but got to get up close & personal. Unique a/c in a league of her own. Grateful for all the great sounding BOU vids on here. The rhythmic rumble of those R2000's will live on vividly in my mind till the end.
I could listen to those engines all day....
Allyn Lai I believe the Caribou exhaust augmenter tubes give the P&W R-2000's that wonderful sound.
Yes, I think you're right. Sort of resonator pipes for airplanes...

I would have liked them to show what the caribou was good at. I seen one do a short field landing & takeoff on sand. now that's when it shined.
Great engines sounding great display love the sound
A beautiful aircraft making a beautiful sound !
Sad that I missed the chance to visit the Avalon Airshow this year, something I have to do some day, just wanna hear this and feel the rumble of the engines in my chest. G'day from Australia.
Just beautiful to see. and well filmed. Thanks
A genuinely great airplane.
Just like in a skyhawk, it will take you all day to get to where your going... But a joy to fly. Like to make low vis t/offs at SAC... Tail stick up above the fog line... Like a shark fin in water!!
Augmented tube s almost like glass packs huh?
Que guapoo...el caribou😉😉
