@@TrainPlaneHub There are plenty of reasons for this. There are tripping hazards for example so it's best if passengers are focusing on where they are walking. Another reason is if photography was permitted tourist & sports groups in particular would impede the way for others & delay the boarding process trying to get the perfect group photo. People wrongly assume it's just because of refueling, this is only one of multiple reasons why.

It's not the north coast of the south island, it's the east coast.
I believe some of the shots were of the top of the South Island, so yes the North coast of the South Island.
