I find my own race attractive. I just had a very very small pool to choose from and it never worked out. Only dating your own race is also weird imo. Settling for someone who isn't a good fit as an individual just because they're the same race isn't good, and excluding a whole race for no reason is also no good imo.
100% I know a few girls that will only date white guys and they were Mexican. 3:33 Ryan is 100% right it was a status thing at least for the girls I knew
They avoided talking about one aspect of asian girls who wont date asian. Its that they praise non-asian men while putting down asian men, which was what lead to the backlash against them and xmaf relationships. It's seen as dating the enemy because of how accepted and prevalent anti asian racism is everywhere.
It’s always interesting seeing non black poc’s discuss race. They never seem to get it right. Always seems to be a misunderstanding as to what racism really is.
What Joe said in the beginning.... I used to always say that I would never date anyone who's Native American (I am Native lol), mainly because some of them weren't "healthy" (emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually.) This could be just my community but many of them are addicts, can be toxic, have untreated mental illness, & take on a few responsibilities to none at all. Also, one of my ex was Native. It was traumatic. Lost her due to OD in 2021. I understand why most Natives are struggling... mainly because I was struggling too. Most of my family went through residential schools. So, yeah... I understand. Nowadays I remind myself that there are natives that are well, healing, and healthy. I am still willing to date anyone. Doesn't matter to me as much
I was in a long term relationship with a white dude and then after dated some Turkish guys and they were too aggressive for my taste, lmfao 🤣 and then dated some Asian dudes. And now I’m stuck liking Asians more 🤷🏼♀️ so who knows maybe once you go Asian, there’s no going back 😳
I just confused on how you could be friends for like 10+ years and then blame her because the guy has a preference. They did birthdays every year sence kindergarten and your gunna be mad someone likes your friend?
Im a asian dude but asian girls aren't my type. I only go for hispanic or black girls cause thats what I grew up most around in NY. Mostly Afro Latinas. I tried dating an asian girl but they were too materialistic for me. Like they always had to have the latest phone or go to the bougiest restaurants.
Interracial dating is fine. What’s not is when people making their entire personality to date someone not of their race and talking down their own people.
What equates to value or attraction says volumes about yourself, where you’ve been and where you’re at as a person than it does any other group of people in general. It’s just weird when media, and social politics get involved and manipulates the levers that triggers division in favor of some groups more than others usually through exaggerated tropes and stereotypes. Like parenting, eventually siblings are gonna figure it out long as parents don’t play favorites. As a parent you learn which child needs this and who needs that’s and that’s good. It informs you how make the adjustments you best see fit. But, it’s a timeless fact that if parents do play favorites- when that happens, everything becomes tainted and potentially hella f--d up. That sh-t? Can tumble down through the generations, and eventually into society.
I’m Asian and I’m kinda talking to an Arab girl, one thing is what Ryan was saying about having to prove yourself to their parents, because I myself may or may not fit their Standards. I didn’t grow up the typical Asian upbringing. I’m 21 and she’s 20 btw. I’m not in college like she is, but I am thinking about going back to trades since IMO it’s better than college. Just a thought. Haven’t really gave it a hard thought till Ryan brought it up
Im 100% with Joe on this. Im Asian of Cantonese and Malay descent born in Canada. Born and raised in Vancouver with lots of Asians. You see interracial couples of all races. But when i was 16 years old and 7 months. I figured out what I like and flipped the switch. Im not turning back. My dad and other Asians think what is wrong with me. But i dont care.
Man I relate exactly to Ryan but I could never articulate it. Im korean and my ex gf was as well and her mom basically told me I wasnt good enough for her daughter and I was already lacking confidence to begin with. My current gf is white and its so much simpler 😅
Yes! Took me a long time to articulate and figure it out, myself.. just spent a lot of time wondering why I felt so uncomfortable in situations that should have more familiarity
Maybe it's just because I'm around so many people that aren't attracted to their own race, including myself, it's never felt too abnormal for me. I do think it's okay to have a racial preference, like "oh, I'm mostly attracted to black men" but when people are specifically looking for one race and ignoring other aspect of the person to fit that position in their mind... it just looks like fetishism. It is odd to me too that some people would rather see people of the same 'color' together even though they might be completely different culturally, or even from cultures with a rough history together, and the parents might completely oppose, but since they look close enough, all good. 👍🙃
I find it pretty racist that you and your friends are not attracted to your own, so you're attracted to different races but not your own? sounds like some internalized racism and self hatred. There is nothing wrong with having a racial preference for one race when that race is your own(and obviously make sure he is a good person too), now if that one race is not your own then that is weird, problematic, self hatred and probably a fetish!( also if your preference is multiple different races and your own then also no problem)
I find myself primairly attracted to asian guys, not so much white, brown or black guys. I have nothing against dating them - if I find someone who is brown or black attractive- but generally speaking since I come from a West Indian background my experiences with men of that culture have not been the best. Meanwhile, when I was a casual consumer of kpop culture, I would notice how most east asian men depicted on these shows were like gentlemen. Even though I know it's wrong to generalize like that my brain can't stop making the associations. But at the end of the day, everyone should have the right to date whomever the f*ck they want, and not made to feel bad about it.
I know this is old but I just want to say how wrong Joe is with his assertion that it's some kind of trauma. This doesn't happen with white people. Just because someone had a bad experience with their white fathers doesn't mean they will date outside their race. Interracial for the most part is a lack of option. For us as Asians, depending on our locations and ethnicities, we might not much options besides dating outside our race. As a Filipino in Southern England I had about a handful of Filipinas I could and did date. Many of them I grew up with and were almost like cousins/siblings (tho no blood relation) so yeah... Not much options.
Ryan's our honorary Indian!! Lol. But yeah i agree with Ryan. Its a familial thing for me, cuzz all the Indians I know are basically family and extended family, in some way or other related through someone. Lol. So ive always felt like it would be like dating a sister. I just couldnt see myself doing that. Ive primarily dated white women for the most, but have hispanic, and hawaiian, and definitely the family approval is lot less of a load.. plus like Joe said, you grow up in America, your American more than you are ethnically. Your preferences become broader being that your choices are broader.
Because Asian culture is hierarchal and women are hypergamous. And in Western culture, white is at the top. So hierarchy where white on top + hypergamy = bagging yourself a white guy is the status symbol goal
I’m a white guy and at this point of my life being a married man.(age 29) I’ve only dated 1 white woman and purely only out of circumstances. Only because I moved back to Ukraine a couple of years after high school. But other than that I’ve dated Mexican and Asian. Because I was the only white family at the time in that part of San Gaberial. My wife is filipino and I’m Russian and Native American. (Father born in Soviet Union & Mother born on reservation)
My brother is white (Dutch) and his wife is Indonesian Dutch, but I never really thought of it as an interracial couple. They were both born in the Netherlands. Most of the time it's a non factor. And it's only in a positive way when it does. Like how they as a family adopted her way of celebrating birthdays. Never before the actual date, cause that brings bad luck. Always with lots of family and aunties in the kitchen making bomb ass Indonesian food.
The latino community kinda deal with the same thing on being told we are all the same from mexico to central, and south america. Call a Salvadorian mexican and see how they like it. Only difference is since latin countries where once under the ruling of spain. So we all speak spanish of course. But when you’re a spanish speaker, you there’s a difference from spanish in spain. Spanish in mexico. And spanish in like columbia. At that point its like difference in english here in america and in the UK.
I’ve been called racist toward Latinos (I’m P.R 🇵🇷) because I’ve only dated asian guys. Dunno I have a type I’m attracted to and been happy with that. My family…not so much. Was told I should “date within the race”.
Because internalized racism oftentimes comes with insulting another group. For example Black men who date white women always(generalized) come up with reasons to trash Black women. That can become a problem...
I'm with Joe with this one. I'm a Filipino, but I was born and raised in the Middle East, but ended up bring exposed to western culture than anything else. At first I was interested and pursued Filipinas, but as years go by and I'm starting to figure myself out I started to find middle eastern and western females attractive. Tbh, I'm still open to likely my own race, but I am so far from digesting the idea of embracing my culture and tradition because of how and where I grew up
There is some truth about this. Growing up in a Hispanic community I heard a lot of people talk about wanting light skin, color eyed babies thinking they're more beautiful. Light skin people were treated better as well its just a werid thing but it does exist 💔 I am a white looking mixed latina, me & my sibling were kinda fetishized always complemented on our white skin & green eyes & moms would try to hook us up with their kids. It was werid asf but this is pretty common 😖

When people say they want to date outside of their race, it’s because it’s their preferences. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to finding a relationship. If people have a problem about you dating outside of your race then that’s their problem. Like Nick said, “People need to mind their own business.”
As a Chinese, I’ve always known I would not date or marry a Chinese guy. Felt like I was marrying my dad. Alpha, selfish n entitled to swing his dick around. I end up marrying a kind n loving Japanese/Hawaiian/Filipino who adored me for 21 years before he passed. Best thing I ever did.

Ryan killed it on this episode 🎉🎉🎉
Hey heyyyy🎉🎉🎉
Sweet uploaded as soon as i got my mojos potatoes from shakeys pizza
You know the food is bad when the potatoes are the best part of a pizza chain
Hahaha I’m a big fan of this running bit -ryan
I don’t mind who people date, but not liking your own race is weird. Do you I guess.
What about not liking your own gender?
@@chronocross85 Congrats, you’re straight
@@chronocross85 Isn't that the norm? Why would that be weird?
@@chronocross85you mean the norm
I find my own race attractive. I just had a very very small pool to choose from and it never worked out. Only dating your own race is also weird imo. Settling for someone who isn't a good fit as an individual just because they're the same race isn't good, and excluding a whole race for no reason is also no good imo.
Prom King!!!!!!!
Geo!! Yeahhh!!
:D
loved this one a lot
100% I know a few girls that will only date white guys and they were Mexican. 3:33 Ryan is 100% right it was a status thing at least for the girls I knew
LMAO Nick was funny af this video! The part when he said, "I'm steal your man if you keep saying that" 😂🤣
They avoided talking about one aspect of asian girls who wont date asian.
Race and ethnicity are different things. Why is that so hard to understand?
I don't care if I connect with someone regardless of color or race i'm all in
I was really waiting for this topic to come up with you guys since this is such a common hot topic!
Doesn't matter to me as much
Thanks for the share.
I'm not gonna lie to myself and pretend when someone never date their own race it isn't internalized racism .
Always droppin dope content jk fam! All this episode was missing was a pinch of David and the Iceman
14:13 Right?
I was in a long term relationship with a white dude and then after dated some Turkish guys and they were too aggressive for my taste, lmfao 🤣 and then dated some Asian dudes. And now I’m stuck liking Asians more 🤷🏼♀️ so who knows maybe once you go Asian, there’s no going back 😳
Dude the proud family did an episode and I was confused about why it's an issue. I thought we were trying to make a place we're everyone was equal.
That proud family episode was ridiculous.
I just confused on how you could be friends for like 10+ years and then blame her because the guy has a preference. They did birthdays every year sence kindergarten and your gunna be mad someone likes your friend?
@@Tarripin6266 well Penny Proud does have the worst friend group in cartoon history.
This is like ask the feels
I've always thought about this exact topic. Very relateable and current!
dear god, I haven't watched one of these in a century
Funny thing is GF parent probably thinking Asian kid = higher standards. It's the same but in reverse. lol
Yes! Took me a long time to articulate and figure it out, myself.. just spent a lot of time wondering why I felt so uncomfortable in situations that should have more familiarity
18:14 Prom King!
Of course you like black guys its because you're a white girl lol
I can barely get a date 😢
Me neither 😔
" I'm 5'12 " 😂
Ryan's our honorary Indian!! Lol. But yeah i agree with Ryan. Its a familial thing for me, cuzz all the Indians I know are basically family and extended family, in some way or other related through someone. Lol. So ive always felt like it would be like dating a sister. I just couldnt see myself doing that. Ive primarily dated white women for the most, but have hispanic, and hawaiian, and definitely the family approval is lot less of a load.. plus like Joe said, you grow up in America, your American more than you are ethnically. Your preferences become broader being that your choices are broader.
Bro, I’m proud to be your Indian brother 😂
@@JustKiddingNews YASSSS!!! 😂😁
I mean there is a lot of asian woman who don’t date asian men because they don’t find them attractive, so there’s something going on there.
Because Asian culture is hierarchal and women are hypergamous. And in Western culture, white is at the top. So hierarchy where white on top + hypergamy = bagging yourself a white guy is the status symbol goal
Never under appreciate yourself. Your skill sets can be defined when you find yourself.
Nick: you’re 6 foot! Shut up!

Just saw a vid of the “fangbros” talk about this too, and they were on the side of self-hating. Y’all should have em on and talk about it lol

18:49 - it's strange how non-sexual acts are sus but ones that are out there such as that are overlooked and not 😤
somehow only just clocked jeo is kwan now. Antoinette is still a dope name doe :)
I’ve been called racist toward Latinos (I’m P.R 🇵🇷) because I’ve only dated asian guys. Dunno I have a type I’m attracted to and been happy with that. My family…not so much. Was told I should “date within the race”.
For ryan the issue seems more with the culture of his mate as opposed to his being predisposed to a race
anthony 😂
Because internalized racism oftentimes comes with insulting another group. For example Black men who date white women always(generalized) come up with reasons to trash Black women. That can become a problem...
Lol is it learnt behaviour or are those people born like that.
From Aladdin to Prince Ali 😂😂😂😂😂
it's all about culture. That is the glue that connect us.
Tbh, I'm still open to likely my own race, but I am so far from digesting the idea of embracing my culture and tradition because of how and where I grew up
Not surprised, you're a Filipino. You guys will marry anything that looks white....doesn't even matter it's a retired geezer. 😂
I was on the same boat except I flipped the switch. No turning back.
I'm curious as to where you grew up, I'm semi-white hispanic and didn't hear such talk, that's so interesting to hear.
@@55CINCO55 talk to other Hispanic people & you will hear about the preference of lighter skin especially with the older folks. Just take a look at novelas the majority of the actors are white 🤷♀️
@@55CINCO55it's called colorism and pretty normal
@@-HazexD Oh I know it's a thing (it's a thing everywhere in the world), I just didn't think people were being outright blatant about it
@@55CINCO55 oh forsure the older folks are more blunt. I also grew up in a pretty diverse neighborhood & school had friends from the middle east, Vietnamese, Koreans, Filipinos, their parents thought the same way. Thank God This newer generation is different❤️
When people say they want to date outside of their race, it’s because it’s their preferences. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to finding a relationship. If people have a problem about you dating outside of your race then that’s their problem. Like Nick said, “People need to mind their own business.”
what a great discussion :)
Ya Im spanish but I don't feel attracted to blacks or other hispanics. ily tho Geo😍#1❤🔥

Internalized racism. One of the worst phrases that you can come up with. I thought people wanted diversity. Isn't this one of the highest forms of diversity and being NOT racist? This woke shit is all non sense.
