Yeah, because throwing money at something only works in fiction, IRL, you actually need to know what you're doing. Kinda like driving. Joe buys a decent car, Jack buys a Lamborghini, by the time Joe needs an oil change (that he will take care of) Jack is in hospital after making an impressive attempt at looking like a doughnut around a pole.
great job....thanks for the video. What did you use to remove paint? I"m going to start this same project. Any tips besides the video? Anything. you would do differently.
If someone didn't want to do the work to refurbish a floor jack, to salvage that little bottle jack might be a keeper. Bottle jacks go for a bit of money now days.
I got an old 60s sears 1.5 ton, so you can lift bridges with it. Its physically bigger than a modern 3 ton. Only problem is the seal leaks , after its released and on the ground 5 minutes later. I wanna pitch it as i dont have time for it,and ive had it apart a few times. I wont pitch it but id like to see someone fix it and use it.
Hi RK it certainly looks like a project to keep you busy for a while. I'm going to guess that jacks spent a lot of time in a professional tire or auto repair shop. It's way to dirty and worn out for home owner use and to of seen weld repairs like that to. Maybe that return spring on the handles missing so it don't spring back up and hit the sides of cars and trucks denting the panels, I had a jack you had to be careful of that with. I was wondering about an update for the antique shoulder restoration video, haven't heard anything about that recently or do you know as much as we do waiting for health care ! Thanks for this video, take care.
Thanks Bud!! I've been going to therapy for two months now!! I have another week of Therapy then I go back to the Doc 3/28!! He said last time, if this four weeks doesn't fix it then he will have to go in and clean it out!! It's not looking good, still can't lift my arm above my shoulder!!☺
@@805ROADKING Thanks for the update we are no different than working on machines , sometimes there is an easy fix, sometimes it's a bit more awkward, expensive or time consuming. It does sound like some good news though that you can be fixed and not just thrown on the scrap heap beyond economical repair L.O.L.
Sure is a dirty greasy job....They make bushings where you drill the hole over sized and weld them in to fix the hole ..or maybe make some from a piece of pipe that has the I.D that you need
Can't wait to see finish product roadking, looking forward to the series.
Looks like she has seen better days King , Glad your going to fix it up . So many folks throw them out and buy a new one .. ENJOYED !

Color scheme looks like my Allied Hydraulic model HDJ2 made in Taiwan. My grandfather bought it in 1989 or thereabouts. Has a build date of 12/88.
That being Chinese you could've poured some sweat and sour sauce on it to tighten it up.

Sustain the helpful job and generating the group!
Sometimes it's just better to repair than to replace, given today's replacements suck... :)
You found some areas that will need your expertise. If you say it's worth restoring than I'll hang around. :)
Thanks Wyatt!! We'll try to keep it interesting and entertaining!!☺
