Jungle geniuses.... Whoever got sampled and used to make these work of arts should be honored . I hate how theres this commercial group that think what Tom and Jerry do is in any way wrong . They never stole concepts for songs , most of these records never get even heard anymore until peeps sample a snippet to use for a totally different musical concept . Thats what i love about jungle and how its roots and vibe is the epitome of underground and through jungle culture producers learn you dont have to be in any way part of some $ controlled "music" industry .... Jungle is Massive!!!
Man, Airfreshner has been my favourite jungle track for 15 years and it shaped my music taste since I was 13 years old. Knowing the samples feels like I have ended a cycle or something. Amazing work man, keep it up!
Honestly 4 hero are insanely underrated, warping a lot of the rare groove tracks from the 70s and 80s/early 90s together to create this kind of otherworldly sound.. How the tom and jerry lps don't get more accolades I have no earthly idea...
I don't think there are any LP's by them. But Tom & Jerry, and the subsequent tunes, were massively rated in their day. The reason they didn't get bigger is because they were stuffed full of samples, so they always just lurked in the shadows of the underground.
You say that, however many artist had tunes stuffed full of samples. Just look at the prodigy. I think being jungle styled club tracks they stayed underground.
Sure they got samples but the real reason is that 4hero have some sort of deal where they never repress them or anything. Though they broke that once for maximum style 2
No one I as going to get taken to court unless there is LOTS of money to be made, it's just not worth. The worst a label would do is send a scary looking letter to the jungle label making empty threats and tell them to stop pressing the record.
They only pressed a few hundred copies of the records and sold them out the back of a friend's van, I don't think labels coming after them was a big concern =P

Nah, that version has way too much stuff over it. There's the tail end of vocals etc bleeding into it and it has reverb etc over it. The original E,W&F track is much cleaner, and is more in line with the kind of stuff they sample.

What they created is rather a "story telling" tune, rather then a repeating rhythm. That's why it's unique, and that's why it's timeless !!!
