  • Many terrifying creatures dwell within the Uncanny Valley, but one of the best known is The Rake. Reports of the Rake began to hit the internet in 2006, but allegedly the sightings date back to the Medieval Period. But what is it? A sleep paralysis demon? A work of pure fiction? The closest I’ve ever gotten to sleep paralysis was a couple years ago, I woke up my (ex)wife saying “there is a man in the corner wearing my skin. It looks f**king ridiculous.”
I don’t remember waking her up, but I do vividly remember the dream. It was a shadowy man wearing my skin, but my skin was way too big for him so it just loosely hung off of him and he was holding a bloodied scalpel. I weirdest part was I thought the whole thing was hilarious. My (ex) wife had to wake me up to get me to stop laughing about it in my sleep. She couldn’t sleep the rest of the night.

I would like to share my experience:
I was in my final years of high school and I was having a bad dream where I was being chased by a panther and that when it had finally gotten to me it started to claw at my testecles. As it was doing that it morphed into a demon. I awoke to the sun pouring in through my window, my dog on my bed ( my mom would put my dog on my bed to wake me up), and my mom in my room telling me to get up. I assumed that the nightmare was because my dog had stepped on my testecles while he was on my bed, but then I noticed that my dog was trying to warn me of something and that I couldn’t move. Judging by the noises from downstairs; my mom was making breakfast, while also starnding on my room. That’s when I realized that my dog was trying to warn that this thing that stood in my room was in fact a demon that had assumed the form of my mom in order to lure me to who knows where. I started to panic but then I remembered reading about sleep paralysis and that the best thing to do was to not panic. So I calmed down and focused all my will to move my fingers. When I eventually got them moving, I awoke to a dark room in the wee hours of the morning with my sleep shorts all twisted up and crushing my testes. You may laugh, but it was fucking terrifying.

On the topic of the rake, if you haven't heard about it you should look into a being in american folklore called the 'Hidebehind" apparently it's a tall gangly creature that will watch you in the woods from a distance but only attack if you notice it and go over to investigate it. From what I heard, Alcohol was a repellant to the creature and it commonly attacked lumberjacks, so the lumberjacks used it as an excuse to drink on the job. I find it interesting cause it reminds me of stuff like the Pine Devil and also the fresno nightcrawler, of the latter there's not a whole lot of info but I've talked to people who personally claimed to have seen them.

I took my dogs to the lake for an afternoon solo hike. I know, I know, but this is just outside a big city, we don't have any large predators here, it's a very well marked path, I have my phone and GPS and basic supplies, and people know where I am. I've never felt unsafe.
The trail was much muddier than expected and even with microspikes and trekking poles I fell several times, and it took much longer than usual, and the sun set while we still had about a mile to go. And it was the roughest mile of the trail.
That's when I remembered you saying, "If you hear something call your name in the woods, no you didn't."
So I spent the rest of that mile slogging through the mud trying very hard not to think about hearing my name, or just footsteps, or maybe some tree knocking, and how I wouldn't be able to run away.
Just wanted to say thanks for that. ;)

I'm a little surprised you didn't talk about The Hat Man when you mentioned the Shadow People. @southronpapist Год назад +7

The so-called "Hat Man" is nothing more than a common spirit. Probably a demon, but perhaps a manifestation of a guardian angel. Best to always assume the worst. I spotted it once as a child, having awoken one evening and gone to the restroom. Returning, I turned to look down a hallway which contained our washing machine, and saw this hat man. I was startled but rushed back to my room, quickly returning to sleep.

    • @ogkhaosmc
      @ogkhaosmc Год назад +5

You are wrong. While the hat man is commonly seen as a shadow with a wide brimmed hat, I have personally seen his face before I ever knew what the hat man was. However he is by no means benevolent nor neutral. When I first awoke in sleep paralysis I was not on my back, I was on my side. He appeared in the corner of my room close to my door about 5 feet from my bed. He slowly hovers towards my bed and proceeds to float above me, and as quickly as a python striking a mouse it grabbed me and threw me onto my back. It never sat on my chest nor gave me the heavy chest feeling but rather after throwing me onto my back it reaches down while still floating above me and it wrapped its massive grey, cold, bony fingers around my neck and begins to strangle me. When I was terrified enough to finally wake up and snap myself out of it I thought it was just another typical sleep paralysis case because it's happened to me multiple times in my life but never with him, that is until I went to the bathroom the next morning to take my morning pee and realized there were deep purple bruises around my neck, and when I came out of the bathroom noticed bloody handprints along the hallway wall closely resembling the size of his hands. The hat man is as I said not benevolent nor neutral, he is pure evil, and he is very real. Since I said in the beginning I didn't see him as a shadow, here is what he looked like. He was approximately 8 feet tall and had to hunch his body over to avoid hitting the ceiling in my bedroom, he was grey like ash and his skin was like leather pulled tight to his bones, he was wearing a tattered and torn black hooded cloak that stopped just above the ankles revealing at least 18 inch feet with twisted decaying yellow toenails. On his head he wore a floppy black wide brimmed hat like those you see farmers in wild west movies wearing but the top was shaped rounded rather than indented more like the wide brimmed hats that Jewish rabbis wear. His eyes were sunken into his head and were that same dead yellow green look you see in corpses or those born blind. His lower jaw hung to his chest with rips in his cheeks that exposed the inside of his mouth which opened exposed razor sharp teeth as long as my fingers, and the size of his hands spread out could cover my entire chest with fingers longer than my head. I've seen him once and I never hope to see him again. My other "sleep paralysis incidents" were mild compared to his attack. I was 28 at the time and have been freaked out by prior incidents but none of them terrified me as much as that did. My first ever incident was at 11 years old if that says how scared I was at 28. My first incident at 11 was simply a being of light that walked through my bedroom door and sat on my chest. The incident prior to the hat man incident was a succubus incident. But the hat man is a whole new league of terrifying paranormal activity.

"Fun" fact! There is a third thing that is related to sleep paralysis and night terrors called hypnagogic hallucinations, the reasons this is a "fun" fact is that I have it.
As opposed to night terrors, I remember what happened and as opposed to sleep paralysis I can move too, and scream.
If I sleep facing towards the door it starts like this: In a dream (I suppose it is) I hear my already open bedroom door open, something vaguely human shaped and totally black stands there and starts moving towards me. Now Im fully awake, often have gotten halfway up to a sitting position and just scream in terror.
The few times I've slept facing away from the door I've felt a hand on my back, just between my shoulder blades, pushing on me
I started recording myself while I was sleeping a while back to see if I snore (damned pollen season has started here already) and I have to tell you, no jump scare can ever compare to hearing yourself scream in senseless horror

    • @pasteldreams5413
      @pasteldreams5413 Год назад +6

I don't have hypnagogic hallucinations but the opposite, hypnopompic. I am extremely grateful that all I hallucinate are giant bugs and not people or faces, because I would definitely shid my pants if I did.
I still freak out and jump out of bed sometimes when I get them, though. It's interestingly just like you've described, where I dream of an insect(s) in my room right before I wake up, leading me to believe they are actually there. I've never had a physical sensation of being touched by anything, though (thank god.)
Do you find that you have similar hallucinations to what you experience at night bleeding into your everyday life? Ever since I began having hypnopompic hallucinations (it's been over a year now) I find myself seeing bugs out of the corner of my eye way more often than I did before I had them.

Does anyone that replied here actually have Narcolepsy? I was diagnosed with it 7 years ago, and all of these things are listed as things that go along with it, but thankfully, so far, I don't seem to experience any of them. They say many people that are diagnosed with Narcolepsy are in their 30's, which I was when my symptoms began, or worsened, whichever one it was, and then symptoms seem to plateau, and stay similar to that for the rest of the person's life. This is my experience with it till now, at least. In case anyone reads this, Narcolepsy is a neurological disorder. It causes people to no longer be able to experience REM sleep, which is the deep, restful sleep that our brains need. The reason people that have Narcolepsy fall asleep so easily, which only occurs if the person is relaxed, is that the person functions on a regular basis as if they haven't slept for 3 or 4 days. Essentially, people that have it are perpetually exhausted. There is no cure. I find the link from sleep paralysis to epilepsy fascinating, because I've gotten severe migraines with aura since I was 12, and epilepsy and migraines like the ones that I get are very similar in how they work within the brain. They run in my father's side of the family. He also had Narcolepsy, which is very unusual. They say it's not hereditary, but it's possible to have a gene that makes you more likely to develop it. Very strange stuff. There seems to be a link between some of this stuff, and I hope they figure it out during my lifetime. I'm 47 now. I was 40 when diagnosed, which was roughly 8 years from the onset of symptoms, or worsening ones. I've always had difficulty with waking up, so it's difficult to know exactly when Narcolepsy started for me.

Figured since you mentioned the shadow men, I'd tell y'all a story from when I was a tiny tacker. I was probably more than four, but less than seven, based on the things I remember in my bedroom from the time. But for a handful of months I had reoccurring dreams, about once a week or so, of shadow people being outside of my bedroom. Watching them under the light from the hallway, and under the street light outside. It tormented me for a long while, and my Mum did corroborate this when I asked her about it years later, I didn't sleep well, insisted on sleeping with my parents etc.
This lead up to a three night stint of these dreams, with each one having more and more shadow people. The first one was normal with only a handful around, the second one was super scary, with them crowding all around my bedroom. I couldn't see the light under the door anymore, the shadows were that thick. And then, the final night. I remember begging my Mum to let me sleep with her, but she told me that I had to grow up. I didn't sleep at all that night, or at least I don't remember falling asleep. But the shadows came back, and entered under my door. I remember seeing a man with a large top hat, and bright yellow eyes. He sat down on my bed while I hid under my covers, and told me "It's okay, they won't bother you anymore, I promise" and lo' and behold, I've never seen one ever again.

I get sleep paralysis, but I don't get demons or even paranoia from it. I get demons and paranoia from sleeplessness. Sleep paralysis is weird.
I wake up in the night, and I can see my room around me, but I can still see my dream playing out in front of my eyes like a projection. I can see my conscious self in my bed in my usual first person perspective, while me in my dream realises I'm dreaming and tries to wake up. I can feel my mind willing my muscles to move but they don't, I equate it to someone trying to lift up my 22st ass with puppet strings from above while the puppeteer suffers from having iron deficiency.
My in-bedroom brain is screaming to wake up and sometimes trying to scream to alert someone to help me, or sometimes cos that's when my dreams become scary, and my in-dream self is telling everyone in the dream that I'm asleep, in a dream, trying to wake up and if he's not, it's cos he's being attacked.
Sometimes dreams that are surreal knock me into paralysis, sometimes paralysis causes my dreams to become scarily surreal, and I always wake up terrified, panting with a pounding heart even if nothing actually scary happened in the dream.
I used to think it was caused by my sleep apnoea, cos I woke up unable to breathe and had to wrench myself into an awake state and that's why I woke up breathless, but the doctors say sleep apnoea doesn't cause sleep paralysis? Strange how I get less paralytic episodes when I sleep in the position that the doctors told me eases my apnoea...
Also, one of my favourite Rake creepypastas is about a young boy who wakes up in the night and realises his window is open and something is in his room. He spends hours, awake but not moving, pretending to be asleep. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees the creature (The Rake) watching him "sleep" and wandering around the room.
He watches the creature leave his room and come back with the mutilated corpses of his parents, and watches it pose them in chairs watching him sleep like a loving family. It then uses their blood to write something on the wall that he can't read, cos it's too dark and he's only looking out of the corner of his eyes. Then the creature crawls under his bed and waits.
As the hours drag on, he pretends to be asleep still and the sun comes up, lighting the room up more and more and he chances a more definite glance at the wall. He finally sees what The Rake wrote, and his blood goes cold.
    "I know you're not asleep..."
The last few paragraphs are the author debating how quickly he can run to the door or window, how much he can move without being detected and how fucked he actually is.
    Answer: Very.

My understanding of Sleep Paralysis demons has always been a mind doing what it does- explaining the world around it- while also terrified. Most people are scared when they wake up to find they have almost no muscular control (something which happens when you're unconscious normally, the reason why throwing punches in your dreams feels so weird, and why someone abruptly woken up will be slow and uncoordinated at first), and almost all of the accounts of Sleep Paralysis Demons I've read follow the pattern of "wake up, realize you can't move, realize there's pressure on your chest, realize something terrifying is causing it." I'm still somewhat in debate as to whether this chest pressure is blankets weighing down an unmoving body or the monkey brain rationalizing "Why difficult to breathe? Ah, probably force holding chest, that explains."
So in short, you wake up but the body doesn't properly un-paralyze you at first, you freak out, and then while you're thinking of what it could be your mind jumps to "something terrifying is here" and it usually spirals from there.

The weight some people feel on their chest during a sleep paralysis episode might be their brain trying to figure out why they are taking shallow breaths. You take shallower breaths during sleep, so if you can physically hear and feel it that would probably freak your half awake brain out a little and cause it to try and imagine something sitting on top of you.

I can see that some other viewers have commented with their sleep paralysis experiences, so at the risk of boring people, I’ll share mine too.
For whatever it’s worth I have much creepier stories. My sleep paralysis was weird, but not really paranormal or anything.
For me, what happened was simply this, I was in the third trimester of my 6th pregnancy. This pregnancy was by far my worst in every way. I was simply in terrible misery during every waking minute, and throughout my “sleep” as well.
So on top of my nausea, vomiting, sciatica, migraines, and litany of unmentionable other complaints, I think I also was suffering with a certain degree of sleep deprivation.
Anyhoo… one late afternoon I had drifted off into sleep on the couch, flat on my back, which is not a comfortable position for me in general, and certainly not while I have a very large baby taking up a lot of my personal space pressed against my internal organs and crowding my lungs.
So, there I was, accidentally, miserably, sleeping during daylight.
In my “dream”(?) I was laying there, flat on my back asleep in the daylight, when I suddenly realized I wasn’t breathing. Nor *could* I breath. My first thought was “BREATH! The baby needs oxygen!” But when I couldn’t make myself breath, I thought I should try sitting up because there seemed to be something invisible covering my mouth and nose, and pushing weight down on my upper chest.
So I tried to sit up, and realized I was being held down by something invisible. I should mention that this entire experience was simultaneously being felt and experienced from within, and, I could see it happening 3rd person.
I specifically remember terror setting in when I realized I couldn’t move my arms and legs, and I couldn’t scream out or make any sounds outside my mind.
I was literally frozen stiff like being actually paralyzed.
I was screaming inside my mind “OPEN YOUR EYES! WAKE UP! YOU HAVE TO BREATH!”
It seemed to go on until the point of really feeling the life slipping out, when WHAM! I shot out of it with a sudden deep breath. I struggled to move and sit up, coughing, because it felt as if I had a very dry mouth, like a sock had been in my mouth.
When I was able to breath and sit up, I realized I was seeing stars and very dizzy. And yes, I vomited. I really think I wasn’t breathing at all.
    It was terrifying.

I regularly get sleep paralysis, and while I've never experienced any presences (so far), the experience still sucks. I wake up feeling like I'm suffocating, but even if I'm laying right next to my partner I can't move or make a sound.
The trick I've found to getting out of it is focusing all my might on wiggling my big toe. Eventually my brain realizes what I'm trying to do and unfreezes my body
Also, it's good to remember that you're not ACTUALLY suffocating. I still panick a bit when it happens, but the reality is that you're still automatically breathing, you just can't feel it or do it consciously. It still sucks, but when I remember that I usually stop panicking and just wiggle

First time I can remember experiencing sleep-paralysis was around 10 - 11 years old. Happens maybe once or twice each year; sometimes more, sometimes less. Always horrifying and you never really get completely used to it. Every time, I begin to wake up from sleep and before opening my eyes, I realize that my entire body is "dead" feeling. Essentially the same as when you have an arm or leg "go to sleep" or go numb from sitting on it, except it's your entire body. No matter how hard you strain, you can't move anything. The only part of my body I can ever move is my eyes. Your first instinct is "Oh god am I dying of carbon monoxide poisoning?!" or something along those lines, or at least that was what I thought the first few times. That causes you to pop your eyes open to see what the hell is going on and then the real fun begins.
The best advice I can give to anyone that has this happen to them is just try not to open your eyes. However, because of how much your mind freaks out, especially if it has never happened to you, you're almost guaranteed to do exactly that. I've only ever seen something in the room with me twice in my life, but I happened to get the above mentioned advice from someone in my family fairly early on. First experience I was lying on my back with my head turned towards the doorway of my room, which was about half-way open. Judging by the dull light coming through the window it was around early morning. At first I was just laying there a few moments not knowing what to think. Then I start to hear "click" "clack" "click" "clack". We always owned a couple dogs in our house, so I knew what the sound was immediately. Dog toenails clanking on the hard tile floor somewhere else in the house. The sound was coming closer down the back hallway, so at that point I'm staring at the doorway thinking one of our dogs was walking around. NOPE. In through the door walks a large Rottweiler. We owned Australian Shepherds. This dog strolls in as casual as can be and as it gets closer to my bed I realize it has pure milky white eyes. It walks right up to the edge of my bed facing me with its head maybe 1 - 2 feet from mine. Then it just "freezes" in place standing there staring right at me. No breathing or movement, just absolutely still like a statue. At that point I'm about to have a stroke or heart-attack. Felt like forever, but it stayed there for probably a couple minutes. Then just as casual as it came in it turns back around and starts walking back out. I hear the same "click" "clack" sound getting more distant as it walks back down the hallway, then sudden silence. Don't know where it went. At that point my heart was hurting from beating so much and I just felt absolutely drained. Not long after that I fell back asleep out of pure exhaustion. Popped back awake as if it never happened. The eyes of that dog are why that famous painting of sleep paralysis always freaks me out. The milky white eyes of the "entities" or whatever you want to describe them as.
Second time was a bit less horrifying but still horrible. Laying on my back again, this time it's dark, not light out yet. This is maybe 2 - 3 years after the first experience. Wake up paralyzed and happen to open my eyes without really thinking. Sometimes it's hard not to even if you're "used" to it. My head is straight up and down, not turned to either side. At first I don't see anything because it's so dark in the room. Then I see it. What I can only describe as a "grudge" woman or "hag" is curled up on the ceiling in the far corner of the room from the foot of my bed in a sort of fetal position. Almost as if gravity was reversed. Pale white skin, long dark hair flowing "down" or up in this case onto the ceiling blocking its face. For a few moments nothing happens. Then suddenly this thing starts crawling like a gremlin across the ceiling towards the other side of the room. I follow it with my eyes as far as I can but it goes outside my range of vision. I shut my eyes at that point and all I can think is "Please don't let me hear anything, please don't let me hear anything.". I was afraid I was going to hear "her" drop onto the floor or something or feel something touch my bed. I never did hear or feel anything after initially seeing the thing thankfully. Finally managed to slip back asleep again.
With all that being said, I don't really know what to say as to why or how sleep paralysis happens. I tell myself it's as people say and it's just your brain hallucinating while half-awake. The only thing that gets me though is that whenever it happens I'm always just in my normal bedroom or wherever it is I fell asleep. If it's a hallucination then why is nothing else different except sometimes there's a god damned "sleep-demon" or whatever the hell it is in the room with me? That's the main reason it still freaks me out so much. Otherwise I've gotten fairly good at just keeping my eyes closed until I fall back asleep. As to "shadow people", I've never seen any as far as I can remember. I've seen flashes of light out the corner of my eye from time to time. Almost like if someone took a picture of you from across the room or something with their camera's flash on. Sorry for the long-ass post, but I hardly ever talk about this kind of thing to people. Makes me feel crazy in the head. Hope it helps people understand a bit better or gives other people who experience it some consolation to know they aren't the only ones.

And growing up, whenever I would move (for college or work or to a new city) it would stop for a few weeks to a month and would occur again, as if it had found me again.
Now as an adult, it doesn't scare me as much as it did, i have gotten used to it. But a few nights back it occurred again and as I waited for it to pass and maybe drift into sleep without having to wake up, I had the most vivid hallucination with my eyes wide open.
My mother who is currently a thousand miles away, sat next to me on my bed and she shoved a pencil down my throat with an expression so eerie i began to cry. I shook myself out of the paralysis and cried and prayed to God for the first time in years.

While it can be genetically inherited, as most things are, it can also be true that either someone was either extremely exhausted when they went to sleep and your body is stubbornly stuck in a wake/sleep state or our brains are too stimulated from the rise of technology that we surround ourselves with. Like sleeping with the TV on or playing on our phones before we go to sleep and therefore, your brain never fully rests and kind of gets stuck somewhere in between. There is also the foods and drinks in our diets now a days with the addition of high amounts of caffeine or sugars in our diets. It really depends on the person. If you can document how you feel when you fall asleep on those nights or mornings you experience sleep paralysis, you should be able to notice a pattern and adjust your routine accordingly, this may at the very least reduce the number of times you experience this, if not give you the chance to completely stop this from happening to you. Keeping a sleep journal can be beneficial for many many reasons, but especially when battling sleep paralysis. I hope this helps. And as a person who has experienced this, this is just the way I've found worked for me.

Try documenting your level of exhaustion vs how stimulated you felt when you went to bed, as well as any sleep routines or what you ate and drank the day/night before. This will help you better understand your body's sleep patterns and what effects you. Even if it genetically inherited, this could help you get more of a handle on it. Sleep paralysis sucks, I hate it. It's terrifying. Lol so I hope this advice helps you.

I really think it’s the mind trying to rationalize a physical sensation. The only time I’ve experienced sleep paralysis was when I was little and had gotten sick. I don’t remember what it was but basically my eyes were really gunky to the point where my mom would have to take a rag and clean them off for me to see. She came in one morning to wake me up, and one of my eyes would not open because it was covered in gunk. Basically as I was waking up I somehow started having a nightmare but only in that eye. I couldn’t move I couldn’t make noise I could only move my eyes around. The nightmare was not linked to anything that I could see with my open eye, it was basically like watching tv with only one eye. But stuff in the nightmare would change based on what I could hear my mom doing. The sound of her ringing out the washcloth became waves and rain. Her rolling me over to wake me up made the boat in the dream tip over, and there was a pressure on my chest that made me think I was drowning. I also often wake up from dreams where a sound or sensation that was in my dream is happening in real life. Construction outside my house, music, or the sound of my alarm are all really common for me to hear in my dreams

The first time I ever had sleep paralysis was super terrifying. I was having this dream that I was walking alone in the woods and it was getting progressively darker the deeper I went into it. The forest was dead silent the entire time I was walking so I could only hear my own footsteps, but when I got to a little clearing in the trees (it was maybe about 20 ft across, not a big clearing, just a small break in the trees) I started hearing something following me. By that time it was almost pitch black, and so I couldn't see much of anything even if I squinted. It sounded like something was crawling on the ground all around me, and it sounded big. It just kept circling me, and it sounded like it kept getting closer and closer to where I was standing. Finally, like in a stage play, there was this random spotlight that came down right over me, and I heard the thing stop. I stood there for a minute wondering what would happen and then it just started scrambling into the spotlight with me and right whenever it was about to jump at me I woke up. But I didn't do like in the movies where the character jumps up in bed with their eyes wide open. I jolted awake, yeah, but I couldn't open my eyes. Like, I could move my hand on the pillow, I could shift my legs under the covers, but I couldn't force my eyes open! I was so scared, and honestly a little confused, but I slowly tried relaxing and counting to ten, twenty, thirty, until I could finally open my eyes. It was the only time I've ever had anything I would consider close to sleep paralysis. Technically no spooky demons sitting on my chest or shadow dudes looking at me from across the room, but it was so unexpected and frightening to segue immediately from a terrible nightmare into not being able to move my eyes.
The second thing I experienced not too long ago was actually pretty funny and I laugh every time I think about it. I woke up very abruptly one morning around 2, and I wasn't dreaming beforehand, nor was I in need of a drink or the bathroom. Almost the moment I open my eyes, I have an auditory hallucination. It said, "Just gonna stand there and hear me cry". Yes, like the Rihanna song. And it was kind of creepy at the time, in the way that it was out of nowhere and it made me freeze up, but then once I processed what was said, I just thought it was really funny and went back to sleep.
(Btw, sorry for the whole ass novel lol.)

Of my four experiences with sleep paralysis I've had, I've never felt or seen anything on my chest, but then again I dont sleep on my back.
    I have experienced:
    - pale four legged creature sprinting across my room. (I had no pets)
    - heard a voice and sensed a presence at the foot of my bed. Then saw a face form in my bed sheets.
    - sensed a presence behind me while laying on my side.
    - heard movement from my closet.

I have a buddy who has sleep paralysis, he said that it's more of a hag or witch sitting on his chest. His usually happens in the middle of the night and he will wake up to it.
On the subject of the Rake, your initial description in the video reminded me of something that happened when I was younger (your further description told me that it more than likely was not a Rake). The house I grew up in was pretty old (built around 1910) and my room was on the second story. I always had my door open because it was stuck open and at the time we didn't bother to fix it. I always felt a presence when I was in my room and from time to time at the edge of my vision I'd catch a shadowy figure standing in my doorway seeming to stare at me. The shadow was an adult height and pretty dark. At one point I had enough and ended up placing a black curtain over the doorway, which either made it go away or made it blend in so I couldn't see it anymore (still felt the presence). I'm not sure why I chose black for the curtain or why it may have worked but it somewhat did.
I don't live in that house anymore but, from time to time even to this day, I catch a shadowy figure darting across an open doorway, lately, it's the size of a child. I no longer have the staring one just the runner. To go along with this, my Wife and I from time to time have heard a child's voice coming from upstairs. We have three children and assumed it was one of them but, each time they have been downstairs.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand The Lore Lodge. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Aidan's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Aidan Mattis's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Lore Lodge tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

I'd be able to barely move my eyes and weakly mumble out small noises while I was trying to yell for help. It was horrifying. Sleep paralysis is something I have dealt with chronically. Every experience I've had has been the feeling of dread, something watching me, or auditory. Only once did I ever have it so bad that I've felt touched. I've found that if you can grasp the situation and know what's happening, you can kinda either try and clear your mind and imagine as if you are free falling into nothing or as a last resort, do whatever you can to shake your head until you wake.

its actually very common to wake up in the middle of he night. A sleep cycle is 4 hours, some people will wake up a little bit before they settle into the second 4 hour cycle, or they get up and struggle to get back to sleep, or you have no memory of the gap between cycles. So thats why sleep paralysis can happen in the middle of the night.
