+MrRicanpoetman well you could tell he didn't know what he was doing just by the way he reacted. He needed to swallow his pride sit in the passenger seat and watch an experienced person show him. Then when he has an idea switch seats and drive. Again it was hard to watch him get that Toyota 4x4 stuck twice!
i own the red Nissan and that was the first (and last) time i went wheeling with the clown in the 4Runner. i pulled him out several times that day, in addition to what is shown in this video. i do have all the proper recovery equipment and you could see how i initially protested the use of a ratchet strap. it was such a pathetic stuck (and easy recovery) that we were never in any real danger, but you're absolutely right that a ratchet strap has no business in a recovery kit!
I've never mudded, not even driven an off-road car in my life, but even I know that you don't rev up while in the mud, by doing it it's like digging your own grave. And like someone wrote in one of the comments below, you have to take advantage of the cars momentum to go through the mud. Stupid 4runner driver. This is not about 4runner vs pathfinder, this is about stupid driver vs smart driver.
Edgar Manuel Juarez you do actually have to "rev up" that's what cleans the mud from your treads so you don't end up with slicks. The true trick to mud is maintaining momentum. If you stop you're screwed. At the same time, you don't want to dig ruts. Once you lose momentum and hard parts start contacting the mud you're screwed.
i have driven the 4runner through ditches and seriously deep mud and never at any one time did i ever get stuck....this driver just made the 4runner look bad and yet it's one of the best offroad vehicles i've ever driven.
I have a 2001 Pathfinder 3.5L V6. This Nissan V6 engine has 240 HP. The 4runner V6 has only about 180 HP. They both weigh over 4000 lbs. The 4runner is too heavy for it's engine. Plus the Pathfinder had better tires too. And, a better driver. I still think the Pathfinder would win the challenge even if both vehicles had professional off-road drivers.
the 4runner limited 4wd is very heavy do to things like leather, navigation systems and such. the SR5 4WD is lighter there for it is more nimble and wont bog down as much in the mud.
I own a 3rd gen 4runner and i know they can do this shit, this driver had no idea what he was doing, in the 2nd bog he just goes in and stops, you dont need L4 for mud bogging
@DarkAnge108 sorry, it's not my 4Runner and I don't know pecific details. As for the tires I'm pretty sure they're 33's. So I'm guessing the 4runner has a height of 3+ inches to fit them.
I have a 2005 v6 4x4 4Runner and I would've breezes through that like nothing. I go off-roading all the time! Did the driver know how to do anything besides press that gas and the brake. Did he even know you can shift? Idiot drivers I swear.
@MrMauser310 The problem is the driver, not the car. 4runners are some of the most capable vehicles out there. 1st through 3rd gens were the best at it.
I've learned from a $400 tow truck experience, speed is key! I could go through that mud with the stock tires on my 4Runner. Its all about how you drive it!
Abraham Levit, 4runners are very off-road worthy. My 2nd gen has never gotten stuck and it's been on some very aggressive trails. No matter the generation any 4runner can handle almost anything. If this is you driving in this video Your skills behind the wheel are inadequate to say the least. Oh and nice 4runner
4-low or not, you're right that he was committed. stopping in the middle of the mudhole was the stupidest thing i've ever seen in all my days of wheeling.
I am the owner of the red Nissan. I am not a n00b. I was reluctant to use the ratchet strap to recover the 4runner; you can even hear me protesting in the video. This video was the first and only time I wheeled with these guys. The 4Runner guy is/was a complete chode. When he got it stuck the 2nd time, we wanted to just leave him there...
How to drive in low range with speed, 4low 3rd gear when your sending it in to the puddle and then rev match to 2nd, fuckin wont ever get stuck unless your tyres turn sloppy
I feel bad for the skilled drivers of any 4 runner models who watch this.
Dude it was so painful to watch...
+MrRicanpoetman well you could tell he didn't know what he was doing just by the way he reacted. He needed to swallow his pride sit in the passenger seat and watch an experienced person show him. That was pretty painful to watch
Way to run over the tow strap that should have been tied at the beginning
Same, my dad never drives that bad
Good cars and Bad drivers
Mr. Joy Europe 16 I have a n 06 4Runner and I had a 2002 Pathfinder for 10yrs. Feel bad for the Runner and amazed by the Pathy
Mr joy what do you mean?
I have the same 4runner and hell freezes over before I het stuck in the mud. The driver sucked, lol!
Toyotas and Nissans are both great 4x4s...I've owned one of each...clearly the Toyota driver didn't have a clue!!!
i own the red Nissan and that was the first (and last) time i went wheeling with the clown in the 4Runner. i pulled him out several times that day, in addition to what is shown in this video. i do have all the proper recovery equipment and you could see how i initially protested the use of a ratchet strap. it was such a pathetic stuck (and easy recovery) that we were never in any real danger, but you're absolutely right that a ratchet strap has no business in a recovery kit!
I want to know what front bumper you have on the R50.
I have both and they are both very well-built toys. Toyota and Nissan were both built to last for a very, very long time.
my favorite 4 runner. i think i like these over the brand new ones
I'm surprised the 4Runner didn't just breeze through that mud with all those stickers on the side window.
.1999
nissan.pathfinder..repleplaccmentment..lower.ball.joint

YEAH! WHAT HE SAID!
I actually love both the pathfinder and 4 runner. Great experiences with both :)
wth? do you even know how to lock differentials?
take this down pretty please, your bad driving makes 4runners look bad
I know! That 4 runner is the most capable truck there
4runnerd don't need bad drivers too look bad
The 4runner looks like it has almost-bald tires also...
The 4Runner is an awesome vehicle, Driver may not be good, and the tires have everything to do with what he is trying to accomplish.
This isn't even a VS video, it just shows a bad driver behind a 4runner
i have driven the 4runner through ditches and seriously deep mud and never at any one time did i ever get stuck....this driver just made the 4runner look bad and yet it's one of the best offroad vehicles i've ever driven.
2:30 the Pathfinder's like "I gotcha bro."
The Toyota is like someone get this moron out of my driver's seat!
Hay guyz lets stop in the middle of the puddle! At least the Pathfinder guy knew to keep his momentum up.
He's giving 4runners a bad name
Dylan Meade lol, no he's giving himself a bad name, everyone know how capable a 4runner is
No I think we know how good 4runners are its just his bad name
Who knew there would be a difference between street slicks and mud tires😂
I have a 2001 Pathfinder 3.5L V6. This Nissan V6 engine has 240 HP. The 4runner V6 has only about 180 HP. They both weigh over 4000 lbs. The 4runner is too heavy for it's engine. The third gen got 183 I think but the 1GR-FE in the 4th gen makes about 235hp/280ft/lb
What size tires are on the Pathy? and what size lift? sorry if you've answered this already.
Toyota's 4runner owner doent know how to handle a horse
Just bought an 06 4runner 4wd. Can't wait to get it on the trails.
As the title suggested, understand this was not a contest between car brands, it's a example of skilled verses non skilled driving.
All Driver there, Nissan driver took right path and stayed on the throttle. Can't compare experience to incompetence
toyota driver got his drivers license from cooking school lol
I'd say he got it from a Ford's 1 cent gumball machine.
Right! Learn how to drive😄 my Subaru would walk right through this 😲😂
"I forgot to go to low" Priceless, don't blame the car for the driver
thats a really nice 4runner what are the specs on that thing i like the lift height and size tires you have on there
Guy in the 4runner should be driving a Ford escape with those skills
The title should have said mud tires vs all terrain tires.
the 4runner limited 4wd is very heavy do to things like leather, navigation systems and such. the SR5 4WD is lighter there for it is more nimble and wont bog down as much in the mud.
Feel bad for the 4runner, if you know how to handle it there is no need to make that toyota to suffer. Last generation of quality pathfinders.
I can't believe he got stuck even with all those stickers
Yup you're being super fair and nice to your transmission!
@templatios Sorry, no idea. I think it's a Shrockworks bumper though, if you want to look into.
Good driver vs bad driver mudding
I own a 3rd gen 4runner and i know they can do this shit, this driver had no idea what he was doing, in the 2nd bog he just goes in and stops, you dont need L4 for mud bogging
It is not the car but the 4 runner driver absolute shitty driver of all time. He does not know how to handle the steering wheel at all.
@DarkAnge108 sorry, it's not my 4Runner and I don't know pecific details. As for the tires I'm pretty sure they're 33's. So I'm guessing the 4runner has a height of 3+ inches to fit them.

@RedHatchi They're 33's. As for the lift I'm not too sure. Maybe 2-3 inches. Something about an "AC lift" if you want to search that up.
He has the wrong kind of tires to be in that deep of water/mud.
@MrMauser310 The problem is the driver, not the car. 4runners are some of the most capable vehicles out there. 1st through 3rd gens were the best at it.
@templatios Thanks, no it's not mine. Belongs to a guy my cousin met at a group meet off some forum.
I've learned from a $400 tow truck experience, speed is key! I could go through that mud with the stock tires on my 4Runner. Its all about how you drive it!
688
This isn't Nissan vs Toyota. It's normal human being vs mouth breather.
@chriseggsify The tires are 33's and the lift should be somewhere around 3-4".
Nothing like nissan pathfinder and xterra. the best ever.
That vehicle is called "pathfinder" for a reason son!
Yes Sirrrrr.
There’s so many great places to go...why slop in the mud in some nowhere location?
4runner is got what it takes to get out, i blame the driver for poor driving
human error on that 4runner!!!
Abraham Levit, 4runners are very off-road worthy. My 2nd gen has never gotten stuck and it's been on some very aggressive trails. No matter the generation any 4runner can handle almost anything. If this is you driving in this video Your skills behind the wheel are inadequate to say the least. Oh and nice 4runner
so is the guy stopping in the middle of puddles to depth check them?
It's more like driver vs driver
Try 3rd gen 4x4 4runners vs 3rd gen 4x4 pathfinders... the 4th and 5th gen 4runners are way heavier than that 3rd gen pathfinder
Justin J. G. 2002 Pathfinder vs a 2005 4Runner. seems like a relevant comparison to me...
+alexrex20 how do you figure?
Justin J. G. because they're the same age. would you compare a 1953 Corvette to a 1996 Dodge Viper because they're both 1st gen? no, that's stupid.
how many time are you gonna let the pathfinder pull you out before you buy one bro
To compete I think they would both need mud terrain tires not just one of them
Its not the 4runners fault.. its the tires man!
Here we find a rare Nissan Pathfinder with out a cvt, in its natural habitat.
dam that pathfinder is tough surprized about the 4runner the new one would get through that like nothing though
you guys got to keep in mind it depends on the tires to
never been mudding in his life.
*buys a 4Runner
Gets pulled out of every hole while he blows a head gasket 😂
That's just bad driving on the part of the 4Runner guy.
@CrackinVTEC666 ...I don't see any kind of fail coming from the Pathfinder.
@swissmove1 how do nissans suck? ive had awesome experience with mine, atleast my frame aint in therat of breaking in half!
good car but really bad driver!...
Opens door: "I forgot to go to the left" what a dip.. lolol
"I forgot to go into LO"
@mageownx911 it only sounded like that because he kept bouncing it off the rev limiter.
That pathfinder's a beast
4-low or not, you're right that he was committed. stopping in the middle of the mudhole was the stupidest thing i've ever seen in all my days of wheeling.
Toyota 4runner.. Really bad driver!!
@TheFreakyfixed87 The Nissan does have BFG tires, but they are KM2's. The Toyota has BFG A/T's.
my 4runner has 215,000 miles on it and is a '96, i love these cars, they do not die
This guy learned alot that day..lol
How fun!
Dad-Isn't it under warranty?
you got the 2" ac lift on your pathy?
Dude in the 4 runner is about half half way there lmao stops in the middle I forgot to go into low. In reality hit mud in high rocks in low lmao
I know that. The future pathfinder in 2014 or whenever it's released is turning into a crossover.
I would really like to know what kind of bar you have on the Front of the 4Runner
This one is a Shrockworks bumper. Same company I have on my own as well.
The forerunner owner is Terrified of mud. Ya can't go offroad worried about traildamage. It just don't work.
How to drive in low range with speed, 4low 3rd gear when your sending it in to the puddle and then rev match to 2nd, fuckin wont ever get stuck unless your tyres turn sloppy
That dude in the 4Runner doesn't need to be anywhere near a 4x4 or any other vehicle for that matter.
You mean good driver vs bad driver
um, no it's not. the current pathfinder is still a RWD or 4WD body-on-frame SUV. maybe you're thinking of the Rogue
That 4Runner needs the best mod of all time: a better driver
I've a 2015 4Runner and I had a good laugh after watching .Nissan' vs 4Runner comparison :)
I have a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder and it's great.
The deriver for got the lower gear hahha
that pathfinder doing work!
the problem is not the car the problem is the driver
What year are the 4runner and pathfinder?
The older 4 runners are better than the new ones imo
hey bro that pathfinder a 1999.5??
where is this at is it in the marine creek woods?
what's the lift height and tire size on that 4runner?
why dont you turn the camera around so we can see it better...
2:06 Why did you stop?
AT tires for deep mud ... did you filmed the Touareg too ?
