1986, I use to take my little sister to Paleds (Queens, NYC) for their teen night parties, when she was like 12, and she loved this song. Always remember the first time we heard and we both were like "what is this, its soooo dope". That intro for that era was just unexplainable hearing it for the first time.
She passed away 3 years later @ 15, and it never gets easier everytime I hear this song, so many years later. Still tear up like a baby, and I'm 50 years old now. I still remember how happy she was, so full of life. Miss you my little dude!

I still remember when I first heard this. My mom was about to go out with her friend to a club and her friend told her about this song. We lived in a condo in Queens NY and it was the spring of 1986 and her friend played the song before they headed out. I instantly loved it bc freestyle was popular at the time. Still remains one of the best 80s dance songs.
That would have been amazing considering it didn't get released until 1988 (my sophomore year of high school!😉)

The single for Running was distributed to club DJs, and became a favorite all over clubs, particularly in the Latin clubs of New York City. The single was later remixed by Tommy Boy Records and the remix single was released and became even more of a club hit, eventually reaching #2 on the Dance/Club Airplay charts and becoming an enduring classic of the Freestyle genre. Tommy Boy Records signed Information Society in 1986 and their self-titled album soon followed, featuring a mix of the single. In 1988 Information Society's self-titled album was released and went platinum.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I bought the album when it came out on the Columbia monthly mail order, and it didn't list that info (lol - been so long since I've thought about that; that's also how I found Nine Inch Nails when they first came out!)

Freestyle did not have the impact it deserved here in the UK, which is surprising considering to my ears much of it sounds quite 'European'. Loved this track when I first heard it on an Electro/hip hop show in London - Mike Allen anyone? Only heard it the one time, but remembered it all these years later. This track especially still sounds relevant.
Freestyle was a great success here in Brazil and still is for those who are older than 40 like me LOL. Information Society along with Stevie B, Tony Garcia, TKA, Trinere and others made a whole generation fall in love with Freestyle, known here as "Miami" or "Funk Melody". And "Running" is one of its anthems, beaultiful song #FreestyleForever

Hoje 6 de Abril de 2019 continuo escutando música de verdade.Da época que cada um tinha seu próprio estilo.Onde a comunicação era o movimento,o olhar e o papo com os amigos.Tenho pena dessa nova geração que estão robotizada pela tecnologia.Jamais vai sentir a emoção da verdadeira comunicação.Paz pra todos e continuem escutando essas músicas de verdade que nos traz ótimas lembranças e felicidade.

Porque eu tinha apenas sete anos de idade em 1987 e ganhei meu Walkman, e a primeira fita cassete que ouvi, foi dessa banda maravilhosa, cresci ouvindo! Ouvia sem parar! Por isso amo! Desde os sete anos de idade! Sempre fui "precoce", uma adulta em corpo de crianca! Sempre ouvindo boa música e sonhando com o príncipe encantado, que hoje sei que não existe, mas eu idealizava e sonhava, brincava com minha boneca Barbie, mas já tinha sonhos de adulta; e essa música era minha preferida, eu ouvia e chorava!
