I also just wanted to say thank you for creating such great content. You introduced me to this great hobby and I have meet so many awesome people from it. Thank you guys.
Is nobody gonna talk about how those hexadocks become useless the second you pick up the seafarers expansion? I mean where am I suppose to put my ships?!?!
I have to compare my box to the modern one. I have a really old copy so I'm curious if that resource tray will fit in mine. That and the piece holder are really neat
D Burroughs .... Same! 🙋♂️ But I did see these things on FB and thought they were a great design so I shared it to my close friends (gaming group) but can’t justify the cost. If I played Catan more (or at all now-a-days) I’d love to bling the game out with at least the piece holders. Still, they may eventually make one for a game that does hit my table with more frequency. 🤞
I'm sure that people who play it a lot will appreciate how it makes setting up easier. And storing it better. I used to count the roads for each player when putting it away. Now all it takes is a glance.
@@kuremalone78, Not sure it makes setup easier; it just shifts it to the teardown phase -- you set up the next game before you put in the box. Pretty much the same amount of time and effort.
I stack my roads, settlements, and CITIES into abstract pieces of “art”. I make fun designs and the container messes with that. Plus at cleanup I slide my pieces into a bag, saving so much time compared to individually placing the pieces into those containers. No thanks. Sleeves I normally don’t care, but after having one version of Catan for so many years the cards sometimes stick together because of germs I’m sure. So sleeping them will keep them nice. The tray holder for those is dope. The sliding mechanic is cool. Why did they make the top a dice tray if they have the other tower? As you did when sliding the box back together the top cards fell off and I can see that as an issue unless you brace your hand alongside the top to keep them in. Otherwise yeah being just a tad to tall is so annoying, how did they not test that!? I’d take it as a gift, but I’m not buying it. The dice tower, please pass.
But with those trays you're saving time when setting it up and then make tear down longer. One for the other XD. Yeah, I don't get why they made "dice towers" and a dice tray. Would have been enough with a dice tower in my opinion as I don't like dice trays 😅.
Alyssa Rosenberg my player pieces are in labeled bags, I toss them to each player and they know where to put them when it’s over. There isn’t setup required. They just have their pieces. People, including myself, like to build their own abstract art towers with their pieces and that isn’t contingent on setting up the game. But hey some people may want them and that is fine.
I've been wishing people would start doing "Bling videos" for a long time. I want to "pimp my games", but I don't know which one's to get. Keep doing these, please.
You know what Catan should do, each year for each quarter release a special limited number Long Road, Large Army, Robber, and port (?) figure. I got a special robber winning a qualifying tournament and it’s made from clay, orange with specs of purple and green in there. They can make each of these pieces different materials, sculpts, colors and what a collectors fomo frenzy!? Only making 1k and the next quarter another new piece. Maybe they do this in some way because how did I get my special robber, but without thinking of distribution, and how they handle giving them out to which parts of the world etc would be crazy. Maybe a $10 raffle ticket, limited to one per person and if you win you win. Too simple sounding I’m sure. But I’d be WAY MORE interested in collecting the special port pieces or robbers than having sleeves for my cards.
@@guillermoz4914, Just another problem introduced by this supposed solution. I like these trays because they add an element of class to the storage issue. Rubber bands are about as ghetto as you can get! I'd rather use a plastic bag. Which yes, I can do that, but it still negates the whole "classy" aspect of the rest. If I'm just going to be using plastic bags, I'm already doing that! Why spend more money?
Plastic insert haha Shout out to rubber bands for the hexes but I also have not the original box and not the new one and I have the base game and 5/6 extension, C&K and it’s 5/6 ext, Seafarers, and extra color player pieces I’ve won or purchased all inside the same box.
@@WhatUpRob, I'm not advocating the plastic insert. I'm saying that this makes the hex situation a problem that didn't exist before. And yes, I despise rubber bands. Hate them with a passion. I'll use a plastic bag, as I said, but I'm already using bags for pieces, so all this would be a waste of money to end up right where I already am.
I wanted to make my catan special and stuff so instead of buying worthless holders that don't fit in the box I 3d printed the whole thing and had to move to a shoebox. But at least people thought it's neat. This thing? I don't know why I'd ever...
At what point do we stop saying "OCD" to mean people who like to keep things organised? You wouldn't describe someone with a certain personality trait as being "autistic" or as "having cerebral palsy" - but OCD is a mental disorder we can joke about having?
People also say I’m depressed or “I want to kill you” or “you’re the stupidest person I know” or I’m so hungry I could eat a horse, or “I want to die” or “I’d rather watch paint dry” etc. it’s just a thing people say
NOTH ING “being stupid” isn’t a mental disorder. “Being hungry” isn’t a mental disorder. Depression aside, nothing you’ve said is a mental disorder. Your argument is that it’s an acceptable thing to say because it’s an acceptable thing to say.
My point is that in English we purposely chose words that don’t actually truly mean what we are saying. (Again read my many examples) OCD is just an example of that. My heart goes out to anyone who struggles with OCD. But it’s not really going to help them by not using the word for it’s colloquial meaning. Now there is an argument to be made if Tom has said “I have OCD, I just can’t stand things not being organized” because then he is clearly literally talking about the disorder and cheapening it. Just like it’s not a big deal if someone is having a bad day and they say “I feel depressed” or even “I’m depressed” it’s just a way of them communicating that they’re having a really bad day. But if they said “I have depression” just to say that they’re having a bad week or whatever then that is a problem
Wait, didn't know Catan players were going extinct. And you know them? That's some clout right there. Can't believe Gamegenic went out of their way for nothing! ;P

The magnetic card holder + dice tray is pretty useful and elegant. But the hex-looking component holders are a tad too superfluous
"hotel" = evidence that Tom played lots of Monopoly in his life time.
Burn the heretic! hahahahaha
It's probably the PTSD that came with it, so I feel for him.
This gets rid of our usual meta game of using them to build towers and chucking dice to ruin each other's stuff.
NOTE if you like the Hexadocks they also offer the other 2 colors from the 5-6 player expansion on their site too they are just sold separately
This extravagance is about 10 years too late.
Got to pick up a set for teaching. Can’t lose components now.
no mention of the outrageous price tag on this stuff.

What if you take the lid off of the card organizer when you put it in the box? Will the box lid close all the way then?
No, I tried that.
The Dice Tower thought the same question, thanx for replying 😁
These look really cool actually. I might consider getting them.
Looks incredible! What if you put the card box sideways into the box? Maybe it'll fit then?
Wonder if they looked into have a new box to store everything and a nice insert for the tiles and remaining pieces.
I think the card holder work great for holding wingspan + expansion(s). Wingspan tray is nice but limited space
But does it work for Settlers?
I would struggle to buy some of these. I would rather spend my money on new games.

No link in the video description. Are these products not available yet or?
They are really going after the catan etsy community
All these years and I still haven't played Catan
Wow! Neat
I always put sleeves to protect the cards games are an investment and I like to protect my investments.
The problem is, now you don't have the plastic insert that keeps the hexes from sliding around in the box.

what?? this all fits worse in the box with all of this extra stuff than just the base plastic that the game comes with...
Marketing my friend 😁 I agree, but they look cool tbh, I mean the design is neat 😊
a lot of people make Custome Catan tiles that don't fit in the box either so that's not AS big a deal-breaker for this game
That card holder box is $69.99 in CAD dollars. it's more expensve than the game LOL.

Only sold 30 million copies but apparently Catan players are going extinct? Maybe there are a lot fewer "Cathan" players though.
This seems quite dumb...
