There's actually an American book series from the 80s or 90s where a group of college students end up isekai'd, with them ultimately being given the goal of ending slavery. No cheat abilities beyond what mid-level non-mage D&D characters would be capable of, but they were smart and determined to see it through, and they made a big impact. By the time I'd finished reading what was available, the supply of slaves was so low they had to be treated as precious cargo for the slavers to turn a profit.

The problem of making firearms in a primitive setting is that you need to know how to build the tools yo build the tools to build the tools to make even primitive firearms.
Primitive firearms are themselves very limited. Formations of cavalry, infantry, archers, let alone magic users and massively powerful monsters, can and will f*ck them up.
It took quite a bit until firearms rose to the level of being such a dominant weapon system.

This is my take on it. Anime as a whole is an escapist fantasy. That's why there is so many shitty harem anime and so few actual stories and art. The reason being is that Japan society as a whole has been eroding their youth. Like their schooling is strict and then once they get into the work force they are treated like slaves. They don't got the time to pursue their hobbies or romantic lives. They just don't live. So what happens when a genre that specially focuses on sad or pathetic men who turn out to be the strongest in another world? Folks will eat that shit up and saturate the whole anime industry with it. Slaves and sisters being love interests feeds into the fantasy of: "Oh, I don't have to lift a finger, I already have a girl here." Yes it's gross but it really gives you some insight into the psyche of these people. They got no social skills, they don't have the time to develop it, and they have no money or even emotional capacity to do what they love because their society has failed them. It made them believe that working overtime is just what you do and that taking sick leaves is terrible. Sorry for the essay btw but I hope you found this interesting.

You know, like the goblin slayer anime, I feel like those slave girls and or boys are already broken aforehand, those with beautiful countenance were probably defiled already, I'm not sure whether they could or even want to carry on, whether they still have the will to live anymore, sometimes it would be more merciful to just let them pass on, however, as for the slave trader/owner/hunter, well I think we already know what to do with them don't we?
Also, if something like that is already well accepted by the society itself, it would be difficult, not impossible to change it, I feel like it's kind of a lose-lose situation.

The smell of singing flesh as it burns to a crisp.
The eyes of those seeking salvation from their captors, only to meet a cruel and unusual death that one would think there truly was happiness in slavery.

That Shield Hero thing in the video is a bit odd, since he clearly thinks about consquences - in contrast to the other heros, who just do the heroic stuff and often make thing worse.
What shall he do, especially with his position where he was already seen as borderline criminal if not worse? Start a war, all on his own? If he kills the slave trader, he will be hunted down just like them and they will just get killed or enslaved again.
On top of that, when you got such magic involved what even helps you, that changes a lot.
Slavery is about exploitation of the slave. If you got something like a magical slave bind that actually helps the slave a lot, that's changed the situation massively and you would find many people who would willingly go with it.
Comparing such things with RL slavery is simlpy whitewashing RL slavery, which is just awful for the slaves with no benefits at all.
Slavery with benefits is pretty much what modern wage work looks like - and still much worse than that situation.

@@miriamweller812 Naofumi did things worse just like the other heroes, its just that the story unlike with them refused to call him out on it.
Remember the slave trader? He confirmed that thanks to Naofumi he got ALOT more costumers. And chances are that the people who bought slaves from him were not as "kind" as Naofumi.
Also, remember all those shots at his shop with demihumans (CHILDREN INCLUDED) being stuffed in small cages? Yeah, I am sure nothing bad will happen to the world if a person like him gains more money and influence and doesnt encourage other people to follow his career path.
But I quess these are the consequences that Naofumi did not think about and thuss they arent allowed to exist in this story or come and bite him in the ass later on.
Also, while you might say that Naofumi did not have a choise at the start, once the queen cleared his name he kept doing it and never even asked the queen to abolish slavery (dont say she couldnt, she changed the entire religion of the country with 0 resistance. She 100% could)
Also," Slavery is about exploitation of the slave. If you got something like a magical slave bind that actually helps the slave a lot".
So are we gonna conviniently leave out that bind gives the slaves electro shoch if they lie or refuse to obey their master? Ok then.
Trully getting better stats but having to share them with the person that owns you and you cant use to improve you life without permision from said person is clearly equally beneficial for both parties and not hardcore exploitation with a nice coat of paint.

@@miriamweller812Rising of the Shield Hero is one of the worst garbage when it comes to portraying slavery. It's just borderline a "savior fetish" where the hero buys a slave however he is such a "nice" slave owner that the slave ends up falling in love with her master.
Remember when the raccoon girl got PTSD from seeing her parents killed right in front of her? Well, Naofumi forced her to kill an animal despite her resistance, and suddenly her PTSD is gone and healed. Wow, how convenient! I mean, we can't have our good guy accidentally give her PTSD even more permanent damage by forcing her to kill against her own will. No, no, no... he is a "good master" and the girl ends up being his slave out of her own free will.
That's the most distasteful trope I have ever seen in anime. "It's okay if I own a slave as long as I treat them nice."
