I’ve taken this recreationally a long time ago. I went into a dark pit of my mind and learned with finality that if I didn’t do something about my drinking and drug use I was looking at literal hell from that point on. It was the beginning of a sober journey and in my opinion, worth it.

I’ve had 7 infusions now. I went from chronic suicidal depression and anxiety to a life of freedom from the iron fist that was tightly gripping my mind. This was after the first few sessions. It was a miraculous turnaround for me. After session 6, I was doing great for 6-8 weeks then began to slide back into depression once again. But nowhere near as deeply as before. Last week I had a top-up and I’ve been feeling brilliant this whole time. This is all in the UK where we have just 2 clinics offering up this incredible treatment. I understand not everyone has access to this though and it makes me feel sad that people have to suffer unnecessarily. 🙌✨♥️ Huge love to anyone out there still struggling.

I had my first infusion yesterday. I’ve had suicidal wishes or thoughts of wanting out over the last 7 months.
Very different experience but was not a “high” like a party drug. Felt like I was melting into the chair and came very close to feeling out of body but the entire time I kept opening my eyes to make sure I stayed connected.
I guess it’s natural to feel anxious about losing one’s self so I fought it a bit but overall it was 100% positive.
I became very aware of my main “heart” issue that leads me towards depression.
So now I know what to work on.
Second treatment tomorrow. Yes it’s expensive but much cheaper than living with the hell of depression. I trust I will better and more efficient at work and more connected and present in life. Can’t put a price on that.

I had 12 sessions of ECT. I hated going under and everytime I woke up terrified and crying uncontrollably. People who know me said it helped, but if it did it was fairly short-lived. Then, my life circumstances really are exceptionally bad, so who knows. I guess as long as I could stop any bad experience with Ketamine, it'd be worth a try.

For anyone thinking it's just a fun trip...
I spent an hour and a half in the chair while they tried to start the IV (I've got tiny veins that are deep and roll away when touched) AND I wound up throwing up (violently) in the chair.
However, it is life affirming treatment. It is helping me more than years of SSRI's. And you're correct: despite the proven benefit and research on use of ketamine for depression, PTSD or, in my case, C-PTSD, insurance doesn't cover it. Further proof that this country's healthcare system is f*cked up.

This is so timely. I was sitting here four hours ago wondering, intensely, about this very topic but there was no notification. I just watched the referenced video.
Glad you mention the $650 cost, as some over there in comments are giving wildly erroneous info $500 for the whole six.
I wouldn’t call it enjoyable exactly, maybe worth it, it’s too early to say.
Edit: I completed the six sessions last week. I’m still here. The last one seemed anti-climatic somehow. As he didn’t do but one he can’t really judge the overall plan. He was just playing the guinea pig.
The doctor did want me to come back after a month. I’m not clear whether he wants me to do another. But I don’t feel addicted.

I had 5 IV Ketamine treatments at a clinic just outside Pittsburgh. Life saving. First, you have an interview with a Doctor, he estimates your depression and recommends a starting dose. I wasn’t sure what I was in for, but as others said, I felt like melting into the chair. By the way, two nurses check on you and you are hooked up to a pulse ox (oxygen levels) and a blood pressure monitor. I felt very safe. By the way it cost me only $330 per session (2020). Insurance doesn’t cover as it “off label” use by the FDA.
I continued with treatment a played positive music while I was under. Saved my life! I never had a bad experience and I would recommend it for severe depression! Best wishes!

Benefits would be a deep sleep for the 6 doses I recieved. I felt drunk. I dony have documentation on any growth that may have happened. I'm epileptic and 45, with multiple brain concussions from life, including brain puncture. It's very invasive imo. I don't think it hurt to have done it. There is science on how to calm your nervous system out there, however it is not yet completely included in our healthcare system (its much more focused on symptom relief instead of taking care of the root cause). If your interested you can read the book the body keeps score by bessel van der kolk (trauma specialized psychiatrist), he discusses in depth the neurological effects (and the effects in the body) of trauma and a numorous of therapies (i.e. EMDR / Yoga/ TRE/ IFS / MDMA/ Neurofeedback) which can help to make new neurological pathways + calming down the nervous system.

Good Lord! Why don't you tell the dosage that these people got! I tried inhaleing 40 mg with a moderate effect, then 60 mg with a slightly more intense feeling, then 80 mg followed by 125 mg which put me in another world. I remember wanting the security of my bed which is only fifteen feet from my computer. It was difficult to slide from my computer chair to the floor and crawl on my hands and knees to my bed. When I finally made it to the floor I crawled on my hands and knees in literally one inch increments until I reached the bed where I was faced with finding a way from the floor up to the top of the bed which took some doing. Fortunately the entire experience only lasts less than an hour. If you can convince yourself that you are not dying it can be quite an adverture though. I would really like to know what the doctors are giving in mg to their patients, giant difference between 40 and 125!!!!!

I'm all for psilocybin n LSD addiction n depression treatment. Althou might go turn out really bad if u traumatized or apply it on flashbacks. So I'm a bit vary. Still, it was a horrible drug to abuse. Zero interest. I can just imagine intravenous effect. Eeek!!
