How To Clean the Meade Autostar Handset

This video shows you how to clean your Meade Autostar Handset Controller, as mine was becoming difficult to use and unresponsive to key presses. Thanks. Mine had gotten to the stage were it was unusable. Cleaning up the contacts with rubbing alcohol did the trick. The buttons are carbon, and it is the residue from these which builds up as "dirt".
A couple of bits of advice.
1. Use some sellotape and stick the red filter to the case BEFORE you dismantle it. You don't have the awkward job of trying to keep it in place (as demonstrated in the video) while re-assembling the case.
2. You can easily open the connector which holds the ribbon cable in place. This means you can separate the case from the circuit board and do not risk damaging the cable.

Thx for the info Daniel, i just bought the LX200GPS 12". A have that problem, so i start cleaning it.

Put a piece of tape to hold the red piece against the top so it doesnt keep falling off before dismounting the four screws. Helps alot.

The ribbon cable to the display disintegrate... Do you know where I can buy a replacement display?
