At first I didn't understand why a lot of people were shipping them but now I kind of see it. If the writers didn't put so much energy into this petty thing between Mellie and Olivia that didn't even make any sense to begin with because Mellie was never really into Fitz let alone loved him, I could actually see this happening. There was definitely some chemistry blooming between the two and a mutual understanding in the last few seasons of scandal. I always saw Mellie as a closeted lesbian from the very beginning of the series and I was kind of disappointed that they didn't go down that route, that would have been so interesting to see. I mean we have Cyrus and a bunch of other gay characters but no queer female characters. I feel like that was a bit of wasted potential.

Same as in other shows that had a inkling of "Femslash"
I disagree with the Mellie being a lesbian. Glad they didn't go down that road. Mellie was all about power.
