    I am retired , so I already started with basic latex molds. Small quantities of this rubber cost me quite a lot. I can't imagine the cost would be for a full scale model. Please comment on your price as well as other options regarding flexible molding materials. Many thanks for posting.

    impressive...when I retire I may attempt something like this. I have made some molds from my original sculptures but so far have only attempted plaster backups.

    why do u need a respirator? this stuff is toxic?

    • @mrconcreteartisan
      @mrconcreteartisan  3 года назад

      Liquid latex rubber contains ammonia , if you're just doing a few small molds its ok .I work on 30 or so at a time so the smell can get quite strong so I wear the respirator for my safety and well being.

    Hey Gris big project. can you tell me how many coats a day you put on and about how long between coats Have you ever had any issues with delamination the reason i ask is i always do things the same way and usually have good luck and than out of nowhere i i will finish a mold and start taking the latex off the model and it will be delaminating. just wondering if i'm not alone .

    • @mrconcreteartisan
      @mrconcreteartisan  5 лет назад

      Morning Tom. I put 2 coats a day on. On rare occasions three. I work pretty long hours .I get to work at 5 am ,and put a coat on with some small fans running close by.I'll do another coat at 2 pm ,and will on occasion come back to work at 7 pm to do another coat .But never more than that.I have never had a delam,but know plenty of folks that do.If you leave it for more than 48 hours between coats will run the risk of delam.Can also depend on how hot it is where you apply the rubber ,do not apply in direct sunlight.Is the rubber old??

    • @tomellsworth2726
      @tomellsworth2726 5 лет назад

      @@mrconcreteartisan Thanks for the input . there is a window where i apply the latex i will try covering the window . I usually do 1 coat a day with no fan . Maybe i should do at least 2.
      I've sold more rubber powder since you put it in your vid than i had since i first listed it so thanks for that also . The next time you need some i will put more in the order.

    Hello I was wondering if you have ever applied latex over oil based clay I have sculptures made of plasticine clay and want to make molds any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you

    • @mrconcreteartisan
      @mrconcreteartisan  5 лет назад

      Hey Ryan,I use plastalina chavant clay as well as monster clay .The rule is so long as they're sulfur free what most plastalina type Clay's are ,you're good to go.Sulfur is the culprit that's not compatable with latex rubber.Hope that helps and good luck with your projects.👍

      @@mrconcreteartisan I
      I am dying to try and make them but I was wondering is it expensive to start to make these beautiful things . I got into making jewelry and dear GOD,I spend so much money on all the things you need and for the life of me I just can't get it. But I try everything ,wreaths, all different Halloween projects and did pretty good on all those projects but the jewelry project I just can't get it
      But I always wanted to try doing something like this. So I just wanted to know how expensive is it and I love your beautiful work
      Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you could help me with this. Thank you again.

      You can purchase a couple smalls to give you an idea what they are like to handle and pour. Making your own is defiantly cheaper ,but a learning curve.If you search my RUclips library there is start to finish instructions. Good luck.

    • @mrconcreteartisan

      Morning Steve,I used to put cheese cloth in my seams, and at the very top of the seam where it meets the model. Now on larger models I ad a layer of black rubber crumb and latex mix.
