You're one of the best reviewers on youtube. I hope you have a quick rise to the top!!
Thank you, i really appreciate it! I’ll just keep working away at what I do and hopefully it continues to help people out! T
I like that Both pick up with 50% tone
I have this bass and love the greasebucket tone control. Let’s me tame the high frequencies on the spot without annoying the sound guy. The whole bass has a modern, clear, and punchy sound.
I've got this performer bass, white artic, it's so beatufil, huge tone with that nice rosewood, I think grease bucket tone control is great, it solved for me many problems and it gives a nice color to the sound
Loving the clarity of your review
Thank you! And thank you for watching! T
I originally came here because of the rickenbacker video and I've been loving your videos man, keep going!
Ah that’s great news! Thank you so much for the support and words of encouragement! T
Excellent presentation and great demo.
I got one of these beasts thanks to your review
Thanks Tyler that was a great review. All about the bass rather than the reviewer, how it should be. I learned a bit more about my Jazz and the tone variations (like the 90% bit)
Nice review. I purchased my American Performer Jazz Bass right about the time you posted your video, but I’m just now seeing your post. I understand what you’re saying about the “grease bucket” tone circuit on these basses, but I must say I have a different experience with it. I, for one, have never found the standard tone knob on a jazz bass very useful because the tone is too muddy for much of its rotation until right about full “on”. But with this Performer’s “grease bucket” tone circuit, I can get a usable tone in the “off” position all the way through to full “on”. Personally I think this different tone circuit makes the bass more musical, IMHO.
I feel the same way.
I have a Performer Jazz and I agree about the grease bucket tone pot. I removed it and set the electronics up as a standard jazz bass. It sounds so much better. The only other up grade I did was to install a KSM bridge. This bass is a keeper now.
Could you please lemme know which specific electronic circuits
Yes I agree your the best for reviews really well done
A big complement! Thank you so much for watching and I’m just happy to help! T
Agree with your synopsis about the tone control has little noticeable effect...
Nice review. The GreaseBucket is a big no-go for me. I'm not sure what Fender was really trying to achieve with that circuit, but for me it's a swing and a miss. I had a Hwy One P-Bass with one and was glad to be rid of it.
Great review! Vintera 70s Jazz review please! And Performer PJ!
I have reviewed the 70s Vintera jazz but maybe not in my current format. Take a look around my channel there are definitely demos of it and the performer PJ too! T
Youre absolutly right Taylor👍the tonecontr. Is online a treble cutter. But the bigger
Problem for me Arena the Yosemite pu's! I ohne two perf.P basses, and AT one of the i changed
them to SD quaterp. Sp3,and that Thing sounds absoluter Amazon now,!
The yosemite s,habe to mich clearety vor my Taste, and in you roll on the bridge pu full,
You loose a litten bit of bottom.
Gratis review👍👏😎
Sorry Taylor for that s..t translating function on my tablet!!
I hope you can understand my comment!?..Peace&good luck🙃✌
My favourite J tone is with one or the other pickup slightly leading, generally the front one, the tone roll off a bit (say 10% to 25% off) and, as you could see from my profile picture, with a pick. I'm considering buying the very same bass.
Great as always man! If you're ever looking for a fellow UK Bass RUclipsr to collaborate with, let me know! Just started doing reviews/demos focusing mainly on affordable gear. Keep up the great work! 😁
I had this bass and didn't care for it at all. Pretty sure it was the greasebucket circuit. It just sounded muddy to me, and lacked the crisp high notes that I love in a jazz bass. I liked the plyers series jazz much better. Sounded better and I even liked the neck profile better. I'm a huge Fender fan, but I thought this particular bass just sort of missed the mark. Interested to hear your thoughts.
Mark Yurick Based on some of your remarks, you definitely need to watch this one! I’m gonna keep 🤭 for now!
I liked the review. I think I agree. Greasebucket circuit not for me. My number 1 bass is a players jazz. Love it. The sire range is also great. Different strokes for different folks. Good job on the review!
Fender professional jazz bass review please!
HXMbamwam I have done a comparison on my channel, but can definitely do one dedicated to just the Pro, no problem! T
I would probably really like the PJ version of the American Performer Bass.
I have a Fender Player Series Jazz Bass, and the Player Series PJ Mustang Bass,
BUT
I'm still lusting for a Precision Bass.
🤣🤣💕💕🎵🎵
Grab a player P, you’ve got the rest of em, after all 😉 T
@@TylerSpicer I was considering to buy the squier jaguar after your review but for a bit more I can have the P player, you think I am doing right?
great video, do you recommend this bass?
It´s Great, but Grase Bucket ...it´s my only...
The bass itself is a great playing and feeling bass. If I didn’t want those warmer old-school tones I’d be happy with it, but I love those sounds too much. I would probably buy an American Pro or Original based on my tastes, but if you offered the performer to me without the grease bucket, I’d probably buy it! That’s me though, if you like those more defined tones with more top, give it a go! T
Worth the extra over the player?
This fender model is chinnese or american?
Have you played the Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass?
Tyler, is the performer worth the extra over the player?
I don't think they make the American Fender "Standard" series anymore unless they do and call it something else but how would you say this American performer compares to the American Standard? if I'm not mistaken I think they stopped making the standard in 2016..
Yes, the "Professional" is what used to be the USA standard. I still prefer the USA Standards in comparison as I'm not a huge fan of the electronics in these. T
Are you absolutely sure the tone knob works… i hear no difference
Is this recording direct line ??
Performer PJ a bit better in this series on my opinion.
I've recently got one but am not very happy with the hollow kind of tone, I'd prefer a deeper thicker bass sound , please somebody kindly advise, whether it's possible to change the tone controls singly or the complete tone and volume set
Start with putting on a high mass bridge, then look for pickups. I put in EMG JV52 passive pickups love the sound now.
Do you get much hum when you solo either of the pick ups or is the shielding pretty good? I totally love the sound of this bass but am trying to decide between this and the Fender American Performer Precision Bass.
Not much as I remember! Both are very solid choices - even if I’d replace the tone control - personally. If you love the sound of the jazz, do it! T
@@TylerSpicer I sure do. I have other P/J basses and don't really play with a pick so I am thinking the jazz would be fine.
Burst with a black pickguard is so boring looking, and they used a satin finsh for all the interesting colors in this series, like the lake placid blue pbass and the surf green mustang
And with older/used strings? Completely different tones again which every reviewer never show you.
These strings were fresh from the factory. Obviously different brands of string as well will contribute - I can only do my best with what I’ve got! T
@@TylerSpicer Just a suggestion for future videos to make points other reviewers fail to.
Its a good bass. My problem with it is its just so generic. It doesnt have any character. There are 8 million fender basses that look exactly like this. Its a problem with fender across the board these days.
They have a couple somewhat unique basses with the arctic pearl ultra jazz with the white block inlays and tortoise pickguard, that has some character to it, but most of them are just so bleh.
They dont want to put the time and effort into create exciting pieces. Its rare for them when you get something new from fender and say “wow, that’s different. Id love to have it!” 90% of what they have are just serviceable basses. They work fine. Looks are pretty generic. And thats all it is. Serviceable. Not special at all.
Lol nobody like the Grease Bucket.
No tone and any combination of the pups :)
