two depressed teens (16) in san francisco skating throughout the city while crying and high to this song. one boy and one girl. both go to the same private school and are in the same apush class. they don't know each other that well but they share mutual friends. on a friday night they fight with their parents. the daughters immigrants parents are upset with her failing grades and her parents wont take her depression as an excuse. her parents wont let her take antidepressants so she turns to drugs to make her feel better. she was south pacific islander she hates they way she looks because she doesnt fit the beauty standard of the blond and blue eyed girls at her school, that the boys go crazy for. she is fairly popular due to her personality but it's all a facade to make the people in her life happy. she self-harms and tries her best to conform with the beauty standard by straightening her hair and bleaching her skin. the boy is a lacrosse player that soon accepts that he is bi. he is asian american and is fairly quiet. he is popular due to lacrosse. always invited to parties but he hides his anxiety and self-hate. growing up in a fairly conservative household has made him very diligent and well mannered. he is diagnosed with depression and anxiety, his parents want him to get "fixed" as fast as he can because they believe his depression is a phase. he takes anti-depressents, they make him tired and numb to everything, nothing feels real to him. his grades drop and he began to abuse drugs because they make him feel better. after school on friday, his parents look at his text messages and find out he is flirting with a boy. his parents are screaming at him. they are emotionally and verbally abusive to him. the girls parents are mad at her grades and began to threaten to send her back to their home country. at 0:18 she is in her bathroom, self harming and high out off her mind. she is crying so hard, that she begins to whimper. she puts on a hoodie, some converse, grabs her cloth tote with all her stuff and her skate board,and climbs out off her window. she goes down the ladder, crying with her headphones in and start to skate down her neighborhood hill. 0:55 the city lights reflect on her face and she closes her eyes as her mascara fused tears stream down her face like a never ending waterfall. she skates through downtown, through union square, and through some neighborhoods. she goes through the boys neighborhood and passes his house at 1:40. now we see the boys parents scream at him in slow motion because to the boy its all a blur. he begins to dissociate. he leaves his house with his keys in his hand. gets in his car, opens up the middle compartment, grabs his lexapro and takes a handful and downs it with a old plastic water bottle in the passenger seat. he drives down his neighborhood, he feels euphoric 2:19 . he drives to his school, parks in the parking lot.. he stands in the lacrosse field and screams his heart out. he gets his lacrosse stick out of his trunk and begins to beat it until it snaps in half. he grabs his skateboard and skates as hard as he can while his tears flow down his cheeks 2:56. he skates through the city, as far away as he can from the school. 3:07 the city lights reflect on his skin and almost seems metallic off of his tears. 3:37 the wind picks up and he sees the girl. she's at the beach, laying in the sand, crying her heart out with a bag of skittles and half drinken coke laying beside her. he recognizes her apush. he is surprised to see her there. he sees the red sand under her arms 4:08 and begins to understand. he runs up to her, she looks up frightened and confused. he grabs her blade way from her. she grabs his arm, fighting him to give it back. 4:16 he looks at her reassuring her, telling her its not worth it. she cries so hard that she forgets to breath. she lays awkwardly in his arms, not knowing what to do. they don't know each other well. they both just need someone to tell them it's going to be okay. he is very awkward, doesn't know whether to hold her her or let her cry in his arms. they sit their in the sand, her crying her eyes out, him letting his tears come out. she feels his shuddered breaths and looks up at him. 4:35 she looks at his tears, hugs him, and tells him he is going to be okay. 4:57 it flashes back to before they met and the scenes where they felt alone, whether its at school, lacrosse practice or sitting at the dinner table while their parents reprimanded them. 5:17 they are skating back to his car, its about 11:00pm, and they skate with the city lights glowing in the night light. he is carrying her cloth tote bag and she has a strip of his shirt wrapped around her arms. +anyone can add something in the comments!
