Peterson has some interesting things to say, even if I don’t agree with everything he says, I can at least admit that. He says good stuff about being honest, being confident, I can get behind all that.
I also liked your comments on the soul being your humanity plus empathy, and your individual persona.

That conversation with Peterson in the original video was a huge driver in this project altogether. Made me change perspective on what I need to become happy and fulfilled and it’s not from overachieving what I can be but from helping people with my difficult yet slightly helpful work and taking pride in that work.

@@reitec6 I think that’s truly the best way to look at life. While we should of course be concerned with personal successes and achievements, the real marker of being a “good person” is what selfless things you do for others. Without expecting a return on investment, so to say. There are some people who do things for others just so they can get that dopamine hit of wow I’m so amazing but only you can know for sure your intentions, right. So the people who have to post a video every time they give a homeless guy $100, or people who post pics of a big tip they leave a waitress, or any situation where it’s flaunted, is gross. The quiet moments of simply holding the door for someone, or taking back a shopping cart for a mom with kids who looks overwhelmed, or paying for the person in front of you’s food at McDonalds bc their card declined, or taking your neighbors trash cans back to their house from the road, even those small things can be so meaningful in a world where everyone is overly concerned with clout and attention.
I don’t care much what people think about me, as far as how I dress or if I’m not wearing makeup or haven’t changed clothes in 48 hours or whatever 😂 but I do hope to be viewed as an honest while still being polite and kind person. And it does make me feel good to help someone else, even if I don’t get a thank you, so maybe I’m guilty of craving that dopamine hit but I just want to live in a world where people help each other bc it’s the right thing to do. Golden Rule and all.
Coming from two VERY different parents I saw my mother use manipulate and abuse every person that came into her life, meanwhile my dad is kind to a fault and has been screwed over so many times but he doesn’t stop being a helpful person, and I always respected him so much more for that.
Edit: Jesus this was way too long.
TL; DR-being a good person is much better than being a selfish asshole 👍
