Interesting. I recently bought some Adox CMS 20 film for photography that's repurposed microfilm. I'm tempted to do this at home with some old papers and my camera just for the fun of it!
@statelibrarysa Hi Reformatters, it's great to see all of that skill, expertise, experience and care being judiciously applied to the preservation of your Collection in-house. Great Job!
Hi janithw The State Library used to use an Allen deep tank processor about 11 years ago but have since changed to using the Prostar processor with very good results. The Prostar processor is also very user friendly.
Impressive, and much different from the procedures I have seen too often that are driven by cost/time rather than quality. Do you use any deep tank processor, or just the Prostar?
@clofts Hello clofts A number of South Australian (and papers from other states) have been digitised and are available at the National Library's Trove website. There you can search across all the digitised newspapers or limit to a paper, state, date etc. It is a wonderful resource. While it would be nice to have all our newspapers available in a digital form, I'm afraid we do not have the resources at the present time.
The music was very off-putting, but the process is so fascinating that I'm happy I endured it.
I have read and know about Microfilm, but never had a chance to see how it was actually done. Thanks for taking us inside the process.
Thanks for enjoying our video
Just amazing..
I am still familiarizing myself with the microfilm machines.
A great way to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane!
