Lyrics
I'm Mr. Meyers how are you
I drive a grey Oldsmobile
They discontinued those in 2002
But I still like the way it feels
I'm Mr. Meyers what's your name
I'll be 65 next month
I don't have many friends except my buddy James
And I only met him once
I'm Mr. Meyers how are things
I like my coffee just plain
I'll eat at our old diner every other week
But it never feels the same
Since the world took you away from me
I've been counting down the days
I think my doctor is a liar I've got something
Cause all I ever feel is pain
I couldn't fathom life without you now I'm living it and
It's worst than I thought
I'm Mr. Meyers and I'm a wreck
I don't go on walks anymore
I find it difficult just getting out of bed
And it's not cause I'm 64
I'm Mr. Meyers and I'm alone
My only person left me too soon
You were the reason why this place felt like home
Now they're meaningless rooms
Since the world took you away from me
I've been counting down the days
I think my doctor is a liar I've got something
Cause all I ever feel is pain
I couldn't fathom life without you now I'm living it and
It's worst than I thought
I'm Mr. Meyers how are you
WOW The world thinks this is sad when I started listening to this it starting raining. 💖💖Really love your music Evan
Still flat out blown away. Be Proud of this one Evan. Deep cut
This song makes my eyes rain Everytime I hear it
Lost my grandfather this month, counting down the days
This song gets me everytime it makes me think of my mom and dad. 4 years ago my dad was diagnosed with dementia and put into a home last September my mom was diagnosed with lung/throat cancer and passed away by the end of November at 64. When I go to my mom and dad's place now the lyrics "you were the reason why this place felt like home now they're meaningless rooms" is how I feel. Such an amazing song.
Didn't think it would be possible for this song to get better, then the strings came in. Just takes it to another level.
I know it just elevates it to a whole different level
Hi Mr.Meyers here.. nice song buddy
This is still the best song on YT! ❤
Phenomenal version and love the cello - hits the strings AND the heart strings!
Relating to this at 31...
Fuck it hurts.
Goddamn man. Its awesome to know that the next Tyler Childers/Zach Bryan/one of those other dudes saving country music lives right down the road from me in the west valley. Truly incredible work.
Will definitely be keeping an eye out for local shows
Precious Love ❤
you are awesome bro doing big things!!
Man idk what to say Evan your the man.
Such a beautiful sad song. Hits so close to home. Reminds me of my late grandparents ❤️🩹grandpa spent 20 years without his one and only. Melanie did a wonderful job on the cello.

As a side note - I find funny that just as Paul Simon in Old Friends, or even more so Paul McCartney in When I’m Sixty Four, Evan sees someone at the age of 64 as “old”. I understand that it’s based on a real experience of his granddad, but still. 😊 And speaking of Simon - the guitar intro has some serious S&G vibes, so does the cello inclusion. What a lovely song!
I'm glad your can't feel this
Chords?
you write about life beyond your years in the same vain as john prine, lyle lovett, jim croce 🫶🏽
One of my favourite tunes of your Evan. Great to see another version of this up. You're a massive inspiration for me and my guitar
