A friend of mine had the 5 x 10 version of that trailer by Maxed. But it had the single horizontal ram instead of the scissor lift. He overloaded it just a little bit and you can’t even imagine how much damage was done when that cylinder couldn’t lift the trailer it pushed the mount out the back side toward the tongue. Pretty much destroyed that trailer….

That cover is awesome as you said. In my state, you have to cover loads of stone and rock. This makes it real easy.

Nice trailer for sure. Probably weighs about 3,500lbs. A 3/4 ton would be perfect but a half ton will tow it but not fully loaded. Probably 2 yard of gravel would max the truck out.
Yes, you're pretty close on those weights. When getting this trailer I knew I would try to get a truck that had a little bit more capacity for my next truck. For now this does everything I need to do. I love this trailer!
@@OldSchoolMillennial and that is super smart because I am already growing out of my 5x10 -7k and i have only had it for 6 months, Lol. The volume isn't enough even with the sides built up.

I have a 1500 Chevy 2009... what is the weight you’re hauling. Maybe I should asked what is your over all weight and how much does the trailer weight itself. I do mowing on the side and looking to buying options. Either this or a regular double axle open trailer. Thanks
What is the towing capacity of your truck? I have a Tacoma with 6500# limit. Best I can calculate is I could only haul about a yard and a half of gravel with a similar trailer to yours.
Glad I found your channel Glen. Is that 6x12 good enough for starting out getting gravel delivery jobs? Depending on the truck your hauling it with, that might be the limiting factor i'm thinking.
Yes, The main thing to check is what your truck gvwr can handle. If you're looking to do bigger jobs you may look at a 14'. I went with higher capacity and smaller for maneuverability. Also, I bought this trailer knowing that I plan to get a higher capacity in the next few years.
I wonder how many square bales of hay you could get in there ? 🤔 Reason I am asking is I have a flat bed trailer I haul 100 bales on . I really need a dump trailer but I really need another flat bed too. If I could get a trailer that could both haul gravel , dump and haul 100 square bales that would be awesome. Of course there is ease of loading too . I would think loading would be a pain due to the high sides , unless I was driving a skid steer with a grapple into her . Let me know what you think.
I haven't tried square bales yet but I'm sure it you could get close by calculating. This is a 6x12 trailer, I'm sure you can stack two and probably even 3 high. So far I've just been grabbing two round bales for my cows each time. My dad has a flatbed that I borrow sometimes but I find that this trailer works for me about 99% of the time for what I'm doing.

Hi Glen, thanks for posting this. I am in the market for a 6x12 dump trailer - and I also have a Kioti tractor I will be hauling - which model of Kioti do you have (looking to verify fit)?
I have a Kioti 2610. I would suggest at least a 14' trailer, if not longer. Though a 6x12 can fit, it is not ideal for positioning the tractor for hauling, and you can just barely fit. I would go measure your tractor and whatever implement you are hauling and see how long it is. I'm not sure if this is what you wanted to hear, but I want to help.

How are you? How does the tongue weight affect your truck? Would you be able to load up the front half of your trailer with heavy material with maybe a mower towards the back and be okay to tow? Thanks
Yes, this trailer tows great! It's all about the weight distribution. You just have to be sure to have a trailer that has an adjustable height at the tongue or a weight distributing hitch. Good luck with your search!
@Old School Millennial what is the width of your tractor? I want a 6' wide trailer, but the equipment I plan to haul is 58" wide, max 71" wide...
Can I use a 2500 or 3500 van to hall a loaded 14k dump trailer?
Depending on the van and how much you have loaded it may have the capacity. You need to check what your GVWR is on your van. However, you need to be sure to check your state DOT laws for hauling. Every state is different, but in several states if you haul more than 26,000 you need a CDL. Be sure to check those things first, you definitely don't want to overload it.

This is a half ton but I'm looking at 3/4 tons. It's just hard in today's truck market.
Do you make much money with yours? I have a dodge ram 1500 laramie 2019 and trying to decide if I want to get a dump trailer and how can I make a living with it
I actually purchased this dump trailer with mainly maintaining my property in mind. Making money with it is definitely a bonus. If I were buying one to make a living with I would start slow and take side jobs on the weekends and let it grow bigger from there. There is a bunch of videos like that on RUclips that I have seen and people have made great money dumping rock, select fill, firewood and being a hotshot for hire. One thing for sure, be sure to cash flow everything so that you can get profits sooner.

You mentioned a liftgate.
I don't believe that trailers like that have a liftgate. Only a tailgate.
Lift gates like those made by Tommy lift go on the back of pickup trucks and delivery trucks to raise cargo from the ground up into the truck.
Yes, you're right I used the wrong word. I should have said tailgate. I was referring to the fact that the trailer has a hinge on the tailgate to allow it to dump just a little bit of rock at a time. Good catch.
What’s the cost
You'll have to check with your closest dealer to get the current cost. I bought this one a couple of years ago.

Bumper pull dumps are stupid and are to easy to overfill, gooseneck is where it’s at.
