- My time-lapse camera set at 44th & Spruce Street of West Philly recorded the historic Winter Storm Jonas that swept Philadelphia, PA in January 2016. The video spans from 5pm on Friday Jan 22nd to 5pm on Sunday Jan 24th. This storm brought a record of 22.4 inches of snow to Philadelphia, and even more for some areas across Mid-Atlantic states, including West Virginia, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, as well as North Carolina and Massachusetts.
I love time-lapse vids and this one is excellent. Interesting to see how much time cars spend parked at the curb. Coming out to clean your car so it's ready to go is smart. Someone is the first to get up; someone is last to go to bed. A resident goes outside when he/she smokes. Activity picks up starting at six a.m. Sunday early is the quietest time. Thanks for sharing.
ikr. totally interesting.
i am courious what kind of store the red one on the corner is.
i would like to live in this area :D
who else just watched the stoplights change color at supersonic speed?
Yes. Man thank god they don't change that fast, officer " you know you ran that red light back there 37 times right, licence and registration" 😂
@@MrDollaBillman some lights feel like that they go to Yellow then red in 2 seconds and your smashing the brake
i did
I like how the stop lights look like lights on a Christmas tree.
Or the police
Police
happy blinking
What a beautiful sight when that sun comes up.
Love how the music matches the traffic light change
Watching the waves of storm clouds rolling through was awesome to see
Those street lights are gonna give me a seizure lol
Just wanna say props to the guy on the corner keeping his sidewalk clear. You sir/ma'am are the real mvp!
I wonder if that's a bar. Notice a group of people leave at 2am both nights. :p
@@OnTheRocks71 yup it's a bar. It's called Local 44, nice place.
@@jerryschwenk8037 aaaah. a bar. thought so.
@@OnTheRocks71 Yes and I noticed they were clearing the snow from the sidewalk at 3am Saturday, and then 4am and then 8 am and 9 am etc. Great community spirit. If I ever get back to your wonderful city, I am definitely going there for a few drinks. Many thanks, Great video.
No wrecks. Good driving. This amount of snow would paralyze us south of Nashville.
Goodness, that is a busy place.
When I lived in Center City Philadelphia, after every big snowfall the streets were filled with people just walking around looking at the snow, just like in this video. It was kinda fun.
i can tell. :)
I ended up with 36-38 inches of snow at my house north of Philadelphia.
Luv the music at the beginning that goes great with the traffic lights
Conditions needed to be considered a blizzard
1. Sustained wind or frequent gusts of 35mph or greater.
2. Considerable falling and/or blowing snow reducing visibility to under a quarter mile.
3. These conditions have to continue for at least three consecutive hours!
I only saw one condition met....
Hello to everybody named Jonas too
Thanks.
I love snow
I watched without the volume up so I guess I didn’t have to be bombarded with bad music , as some have mentioned lol 😂. Ehh .. it’s not a bad video , just thought it was going to get crazy with the snow fall and was kind of let down in some ways but overall , not bad ! All I could keep thinking about was about how many times folks turned the lights on and off haha..
I live in florida so i never get to see stuff like this. I would love to live in a place like this
Trust me it doesn't snow like this anymore here. Ocean water too warm. High pressure stops just over philly rest of pa gets rocked tho and we get rain😣😣😬😬
@@Swaggmire215
Nothing really to do with the ocean temperature near you. Just depends on where the high and low pressure systems are. Within the last month now, late 2022 and early 2023, New York has been getting lots of snow thanks to low pressure systems coming from the west and the north, and will likely get more before winter is over. You lot will probably get some too in Pennsylvania.
A little bit of snow is fun. Too much is just messy and a hassle lol I do like how quiet it gets when a good amount falls though, thanks to it absorbing all the ambient sound. Thats really the only part I like about snow.
Man I live in SD calif. We never get snow🤔but just once I'd like a storm to do that🙏
A very nice video.
I'm sure the residents of Buffalo, NY, would change places with you.
As the traffic lights go so fast, what you have to do is turn right since you can turn red, then go back and turn right, it's very simple XD
I'm surprised there wasn't wrecks as fast as they were going.
Yeah it looks like they were doing at least 100mph on residential streets. smh
Great time-lapse of the snow storm! May be good idea to show more of the sky so can see the cloud and storm.
Check out my time -lapse video too.
Look at the trafic lights
Klamath falls Oregon is watching
I wonder why the stop lights there are flashing green & red??
