Great discussion! Thank you, Pastor Washington, for your valuable insight. Being a Christian, female retired police officer, I have so many questions I wish I could ask. As a police officer, I would have given my life for all people - all colors - in my City as would my co-workers. So, I find this concept of systemic racism very difficult to accept. I look forward to next week!

I got a question: Why do "we" wear black colour more often these last years... even worship choirs wear black....? not only in your ministries, but everywhere, every Christian contemporaries on media, even on worship concerts....? Hi beloved; Shalom! I do have a question which I hope any of you would answer kindly: Seemingly, many Christians wear "black" these past years, even great choirs in concert all wear over-all black, I am wondering why....? Why black? Is it because it's the last time, or the very last days now?

I never met George Floyd. I have never seen his face. ( I do not watch television.)
What I do know is that he is my brother and I mourn his senseless death. I began life in a town with multiple beautiful skin colors in my city and in my elementary school. I can honestly say I have never known prejudice.
I have always delighted in the colorful different hues of our skin and the many different cultures of people who cherish their precious heritage.
In America, during the year 1900 there were more black people lynched than in any other year of our American history.
It is a tragedy that there was ever even one. I was born the same year Rosa Parks made history by taking her seat in the front of the bus.
While I was still in elementary school my mother dated a black man, a Hispanic man and white men, while she was looking for a husband. My home knew no prejudice.
People who hate any person of any color or race do not know our amazing creator who made us all as His treasured people in His image. I celebrate our cultures and colors😉 We only overcome through Yeshua. Just as Jesus only did what he saw his father do. generations of people only do what they see their fathers do. Prejudice is passed through generations until The truth of our Beauty is Understood.
God prepared the earth, creating varieties and intricate colors of plants, trees, flowers, animals, fish and bugs for us. When the earth was prepared for human life, saving the best of his creation for the last day of his masterpiece; on the Sixth day he created man, and from man; woman.
How much does that say about our connection with one another from the start? We were physically connected. The Bible goes on to even more specifically say that if any man claims to love God, yet hates his brother, he is a liar.
My heart aches for George Floyd’s Family. He was taken from this earth prematurely. It was not Gods plan for his life. George is now being held up in the hearts of Americans. I pray God make something good for our human future from all of this. I pray eyes open and hearts change. In his senseless death George will be remembered with Glory.

You may be interested to know, the silence that pope pius xii which he was accused of began from a play loosely telling the story of St Maximillian Kolbe; the playwright spoke informally with two people who slandered the pope. Now when the play opened, people accepted what was acted out, that the pope didn’t care, was anti Semitic and a Nazi sympathizer, because that is how he was portrayed, without any data, in the play. The two who had given info to the playwright were both at the Vatican at the time the playwright visited Rome, and both spoke negatively to slander the pope. One supported socialism, the nazi party, was a third reich agent infiltrating the church at that time, bishop Alois Hudal, and the other person was a German priest who spent several months at the Vatican, named Fr Bruno Wustenberg, who the pope didn’t advance because of his alleged homosexual background. What was said about the pope isn’t a true reflection of who he was and the position of the church. In fact there are some interesting Vatican documents that were made public in the 1960s because of the narrative on pope pius xii that reveal the Pope did go directly against Hitler in letters, flyers posted initially. However when Hitler became dictator the pope became more careful because the persecution of Catholics was increasing on a daily basis in 1933, at the time of signing of the concordat. Remember Hitler and this third reich movement which began in Prussia, wanted religion to be subservient to the govt, and that the third reich was the church, this was taught in universities in Germany. The new church of the people, what they want and Catholics were not reporting to any govt as god.
There is a wonderful letter by St Edith Stein, a carmelite nun and Jewish woman by birth, who wrote a number of beautiful letters to the Pope and knew the a pope was against persecution of Jews, socialism as a form of communism, which was anti religion. In the letter she specifically speaks about the cutllure in Germany, and how people were turned against God and the party was ant christianity. She was a German phd philosopher before becoming a nun. She speaks of the culture, and it’s suppression fo criticism and attack on critics through boycotts, undermining people’s ability to make a living. She spoke about the socialist party saying they stand for justice, but said their abuse “mock any sense of justice and humanity, not to mention love thy neighbor”. This comment was before the camps but hen Jewish people were brutally attacked on the street, and no one seemed to care how brutal these attacks were. It was called justice for the socialist movement, the German people. Many of these letters are available, along with the popes condemnation of the nazi party and Hitler from the beginning, before he committed crimes, when he was elected. Early on, St Edith Stein wrote letters to ask Him to speak out, and she knew him well and his opinions and spoke openly. The Pope, was previously the Holy See, then number 2 in the Vatican, and he was accused of supporting the third reich encouraging Germany to support Hitler for a dictatorship. That is the opposite of what all the Vatican documents reveal. The church was slandered because Catholics were not accepting the new govt as the religion, opposition was punished, and the pope was anti communism and anti socialism. The Pope early one was vocal in condemning the hate, anti Semitism, and suppression of people under Hitler, who shut down opposing voices and the letters contained in these documents and letters to a Hitler support this. He condemned Hitler. They became public in 1964, because there was an uproar on the Pope due to the play which put forward a different narrative. However what everyone looks at is the signing of the concordat to align to the govt in Germany or be outlawed. This was done but it isn’t as it has been portrayed.
When Hitler threatened the rights of 20 million Catholics the pope, then a cardinal, signed the concordat because In a letter he stated, “ he had a gun to his head”. Either he accepted hitlers terms or the Catholic Church would be dissolved by the third reich and he was concerned about the persecution of Catholics. There was a lot of history, anti catholic history, because Catholics were conservatives, not liberals.. The history of the Prussian early reich, and second reich, all socialists parties and Catholicism did not mix with their beliefs. The secularists were anti catholic.. Universities taught that the state could be both a governing power and a moral and divine order, not churches. Such as Heinrich Bassermann who taught theology at university of Heidelberg. Hence it was heretical roots that were the foundation for the third reich and this was the position of the Catholic Church.
After Edith Stein, now a saint in the Catholic Church, wrote a letter imploring the pope to not be silent on this blood letting of the Jews and oppression of the people of Germany, and she knew many more would die before it was finished, in 1933, all the German bishops met to declare the socialist party heresy, and any catholic who votes for Hitler would be excommunicated, not allowed in the church. But a group of Catholics did vote for him, in the center party, giving him dictator power. The German bishops were forced to withdraw their declaration to excommunicate. Documents show it was purely a German sovereignty decision. But it is not portrayed this way on purpose by critics of conservative christianity.
Pope pius xii who was archbishop and cardinal prior, gave 42 speeches and sermons in Germany from 1917-1930 and he condemned National Socialism in 40 of them, which said their justice and morality in govt was supreme to the church.He never met with Hitler or sought to meet him. He condemned and wrote the prior pope’s sermon on anti Semitism borrowing much thinking from Saint Edith Steins's letters to him, speaking of the Jewish roots of Jesus, Mary and the apostles. German bishops had letters condemning it. The pope published an article in the Jewish chronicle condemning anti Semitism, written by pope pius II, then in the number 2 role. This condemnation was circulated in Germany even as the pope said he signed the concordat to protect 20 million Catholics in Germany. He called the nazis an aggressive neopagan ideology, the deification of race, nation and state, and not congruent with Catholicism. 55 letters were sent to Hitler from the Vatican protesting his actions. The pope also called Hitler a mad prophet. Hitler was furious, he arrested Catholics, removed relics crosses, closed catholic schools, and made prayer and singing carols prohibited because of this. He rounded up priests and nuns and imprisoned them, some 333 priests were sent to Dachau concentration camp. One who went was nun, Edith Stein, Jewish by birth. She died in Auschwitz. 25% of all clergy in Poland, mostly priests, were killed.. The pope many times burnt documents he wanted to publish after this persecution began, particularly what happened in Holland, but he knew his words cost lives. He wept when he heard the news of the death of Edith Stein and people’s close to him said he felt personally responsible. They also discovered in the records that pope pius xii frequently carried out long distance exorcisms of Hitler, reciting Begone, Satan.
The Pope was active behind the scenes, papers show he actively pushed to aid Jews in Europe falsifying baptism certificates for Jews fleeing, sheltering in church buildings, Children in orphanages. Falsifying passports to smuggle Jewish people abroad. He instructed 5000 Jews to be hidden in 155 monasteries and convents in Rome. Israel Zolli was saved by hiding in the papal apartments in the Vatican. 80% of Roman Jews were saved through is behind the scenes support. He held negotiations through his leaders with high level German dignitaries. .responsible for saving many prisoners. Jewish diplomat and historian Pinchas Lapide claims in his research in the Israeli archives that pope pius xii contributed to the rescue of between 847,000 and 882,000 Jews. 20 years later, all the facts became irrelevant given the new narrative. Museums in Israel speak directly to these facts.
I share this lengthy detail because I too was thinking they must have been evil or corrupt at the least, based on what the narrative is today.. The letters and sermons show heart, frustration to do more, but knowing his words can result in more arrests and death. He worked behind the scenes at risk of life.. What I learned is he didn't face the persecution when he spoke, but the people he shepherded did and that was his dilemma. I found this body of work from the Vatican helpful in seeing the hearts and minds of the Catholic Church leaders during this evil time in history.
