      Hamid, I really can't say for sure. I just don't have any experience with jet skis and don't really know what they are capable of. I know I see guys on Jet skis pulling tubes but I really don't know the size of them. See if you can find someone that has a 3 person D tube and see if you can borrow and then you will know. If there is a boat rental place in your area, you might be able to rent one for the day and try it out as well.

    I’ve read that when tubing with children the boat should be traveling at 20 mph. Any comments?

    • @BooneDownSouth

      @Kathy Retz - This is just my opinion. But growing up when I was a teenager our goal was to go as fast as possible and hang on as long as possible while the driver tried everything in his power to throw you off. Looking back - that was insane and stupid! A lot of potential for getting seriously hurt. Depending on the tube - as in a 3 person tube is going to be harder to whip out than a 1 person tube, but generally speaking I don't pull tubers more than about 17-18 mph tops. And many times I'm closer to 15 mph. Depends on how big the waves in the area and other things like that. My boat's top speed with no tubes being pulled is about 22mph and pulling a tube I am hard pressed to hit 20. So for smaller kids, I probably wouldn't pull faster than 12-13 mph. This is just my opinion. There are two elements that make it fun for those on the tube. The 1st being the whip - as in you hit a turn and you are able to whip the tube out beyond the wake. When you do that and there is flat calm water you can increase speed as you do this and for a few seconds or so they feel the rush of skimming across the water pretty quickly. Now if there are heavy waves and you speed up for that you increase the likelihood of flipping the tuber. The 2nd thing only pertains to some people and other people don't like it, but that is to hit other boats wakes with the tube so you bounce up. To me its a lot of fun, but again, you have to pay attention to what is going on around you. I don't do that with young kids as its too dangerous in my mind - only with older experienced riders. Hope this helps.

    Silly question but does your motor ever rev up when turning sharp? Just got a pontoon boat and whenever we try to tube and turn it seems like the prop is either out of the water or just not spinning

    • @BooneDownSouth
      @BooneDownSouth  4 года назад +2

      Well I would say mine does but that is in direct relation to how much power I am giving it. By the forces of nature you will put more friction on the boat when you start your turn which will generally slow you down when you are pulling someone - especially a tight turn. I always throttle up some going into the turn to try and not drain off too much speed from the tight turn so yea my motor is reving up from me giving it more throttle. If you think your prop is too high trying adjusting the trim on your motor and see if you get different results.

      @@BooneDownSouth thanks for the reply. I have the trim to the lowest point, the dealer tries to say this is normal but it sounds like the propeller is slipping and then the engine is just free spinning with no friction. They said its normal when making sharp turns but its even happening when going straight.

    • @BooneDownSouth
      @BooneDownSouth  4 года назад +1

      Yea the only time you should hear that noise when going straight is when you are going through some really choppy water and you know the motor is come out of the water as it goes over the high spots.

    What kind of tow bracket do you have? I bought a 2017 22' Sun Tracker and trying to decide how to set it up for tubing.

    • @BooneDownSouth

      When I bought my pontoon it was used and already had one installed on it. It looks similar to this one: www.greatlakesskipper.com/godfrey-pontoon-boat-ski-tow-pylon-201695-49-7-8-x-38-3-4-x-26-inch-stainless?adpos=1o2&scid=scplp1074599&sc_intid=1074599&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhPW17dnP4QIViIKzCh2UvwXtEAkYAiABEgJKKvD_BwE
      I have no idea if that will fit your boat or not but that is the style I have on mine.

      Really late to the party but 50' is a good length and the rope should be a Tube rope and not a ski rope.

    You don't tube behind a vessel that has less than 300HP.............

    • @jasonharris1422
      @jasonharris1422 4 года назад +1

      Hahaha that's ridiculous. I have an 85 force on a 16 foot Bayliner that rips shit up. Its an 85hp but I've been told they have more like 70hp and it still will wip you off.

      My Kawasaki STX15 out tows (tubes) almost every boat on the lake. And with the sharper turn radius, I can whip people at almost 70 mph.
