This is an absolutely brilliant vocal performance! Adam has a depth of understanding and an extraordinary ability to translate his understanding to that vocal delivery. BRAVO!
You're right, it does sound like theatre and that's because it is! Adam sings this in the current Broadway production of Cabaret. He plays the starring role of the Emcee. He will be in this production until March, 2025.
Saw him do this live in character on broadway (with a German accent!) and it was beautiful and heartbreaking and downright scary in moments. Believe it or not, that “feet don’t walz” line sounded even more breathtaking when he did it live. He is such a talent. He’s great as his own artist and touring with queen but that man was born to be on broadway
Thank you for your reaction. I saw Adam perform this opening night on Broadway. So amazing and it was even better and more moving live. Adam never ceases to amaze me!
This song is from the famous Kander & Ebb Broadway Musical, Cabaret. It premiered in the 60's. There is a revival currently playing on Broadway with Adam Lambert starring as the Emcee.
Geez, Adam is doing so many new things with his voice here! I’ve never heard this particular vibrato from him. He is singing with his eyes as well as his voice. Thanks for helping to explain it.
He took over the role on Broadway from Eddie Redmayne, who originated this revival. This is one of my favorite musical theater songs and I have never heard it sung better! ❤ Thank you!
Enjoyed this reaction so much Jesse. Oh Adam Lamberts voice on this track is so dreamy. It really suits the lush warm tones of his voice. For me, Adam has a real musicality and passion which certainly suits a lot of the west-end music tracks; especially the theatricality of torch-songs. I personally would love to see him sing "Why, God, Why?" or “Last Night of the World”from Miss Saigon, as I think he would deliver them amazingly well. I think as Adam’s voice gets richer because he’s slightly older now, he really reminds me of George Michael in many ways, especially the way his voice sounded during his Paris Opera House Symphonica performances. Also, I think Adam could sing many smokey late night jazz tracks too, because the way the notes role around his mouth and off his tongue has such smoothness and pathos, that kinda reminds me of K.D Lang as well. For instance, Adam could deliver a fantastic version of “Coffee and Cigarettes”.
Yes, such interesting choices with the vibrato and everything you said. He can really do amazing things with his voice, sometimes really subtle, sometimes really grand, but always in service to the song interpretation
I would love to see the musical Cabaret with Adam, so much! Unfortunately, I have no option to do it 😭😭😭 Thanks for your great reaction!!! A small reminder - I had a request for a reaction to Adam's song Underneath 🙏🙏🙏
This song comes toward the end of the musical "Cabaret," sung by the character of "the Emcee," at the Cabaret "the Kit Kat Club" in 1930's Berlin where the musical is set. At this point in the musical, the Nazis are increasingly taking control, and the Emcee, who is both an avatar for the audience and a sinister representation of how the population just gave in to the Nazis, is expressing the despair and resignation at the recognition of the inevitability of what's happening. It's a very dark moment in a pretty dark musical. Lambert is currently playing the role on Broadway, and he's been doing such an amazing job of it, that they realized they should put out a video of this, his most striking song in the show.
Jeez, from American Idol to being on stage with one of the best rock bands of all time. Lucky, talented bastard LOL! A Lambert is unbelievable, fantastic voice! Agree, Queen found themselves an incredibie voice and one good looking frontman too. The Lambert phenomen is that that this dude is unpredictable. Lambert is so brave that in the middle of a concert in Italy Queen+Lambert begins to sing Nessun Dorma so much so that he receives a standing ovation from the Italian audience and opera experts shockingly compare him to the legendary opera tenors, a then continues to sing rock. Damn it, how is this even possible?!ruclips.net/video/KqSaSdHHFuI/видео.htmlsi=RNEnUojQKLcUySJP

Absolutely out of this world, this song sticks in you head, I find I'm singing all day.

Coś pięknego, można słuchać na okrągło, Adam to najlepszy obecnie męski wokal, wspaniały!❤
