Why do the manufacturers place a black/colored dot on the crown of an Aerosol Spray can?

On the crown of most aerosol cans, the Manufacturer has placed a black or colored dot.. What is its intent ? The following is a short tutorial that gives its purpose, along with a lateral cutout view showing the interior of an aerosol can.
