Most of the marriage or sex stories are based off yokai stories. Several Pokemon are also based off of yokai. Game Freak trying to copy/paste Pokemon into a good amount of yokai stories is what ended up getting cut. Also the Typhlosion story was mistranslated apparently.
I don't understand the harsh reaction to these stories. They were clearly written as world building exercises based on real world myths and were never intended to be canon. It's also important to note what's considered child friendly here in the west is not necessarily the same in Japan.
I definitely agree on this. I feel it's very obvious that the stories we got are more baseline and would've been rewritten a bit if they were to actually put them in game. There's also the fact that they were a bit mistranslated that definitely changes how these stories are supposed to read. And yeah, Japan is a bit looser on this type of stuff in media than the west, so like I said I imagine if they were fully put into the game they'd be rewritten but still tell the same story, just less overt. But provobly ended up being cut either due to other parts of the world not understanding or them just being a bit unnecessary to rewrite and put in the library.
The original concept for pokemon included WHIPPING THEM and probably much worse considering they are just people who speak a different language, and that's in cannon too.
*These* stories should not be considered child friendly in any culture ever. And it’s the fact that this stuff exists at all that’s annoying. You should not need to use the most disgusting real-world myths as templates for designing enemies for your children’s RPG, that’s just a lack of creativity. Also the fact that some mf left them on their hard drive all this time tor them to be hacked is highly suspicious.
@@kurenian It's common practice for game companies to store all development material so it's not suspicious watt all. Contrary to what people on the Internet are saying these are only a small fraction of the hack.
... Didn't they tell us in Diamond and Pearl that people used to marry Pokémon in those library books in-game? Why is this a surprise now?? Edit: Ah, you mention that later...
The ending of the East and West story feels like It's a Good Life by Jerome Bixby. Forced happiness, to a fault. So, after finishing the video, I have a few more thoughts: A LOT of fairytales have SA, implied or otherwise, somewhere in them. A lot of cultures have "sanitized" their fairytales to make them more palatable to children, but definitely not all cultures and most certainly not all fairytales. This sanitation of fairytales is often very well-hidden. For some examples, the original Sleeping Beauty was SAed awake. The original Pied Piper had the piper drown all of the town's children after the town refused to pay the piper. The stepsisters in Cinderella cut off their big toe and heel to fit into the glass slipper. Pinocchio killed his only friend by throwing a hammer at him. The original Rapunzel had the prince impregnate her, the prince get thrown out of the tower and blinded by thorns, Rapunzel herself has her hair cut off and left to wander alone with two children in the middle of the effing desert. And then there are the stories that are positively horrific, but we never stop to think about them that way because we've been taught them from childhood: for just one example, Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother getting eaten alive, and then freed when a woodcutter chops open the wolf- and that's not even mentioning how the story was intended to be an allegory to predators. Yes, in that sense. For this game to have such "dark and disturbing" fairytales in it... they're just fairytales. As modern humans, we think it's repulsive and disgusting and insensitive- but to write it any other way would be to ignore the roots of said fairytale and skip to the sanitized version, which is a reason why many fairytales in fantasy settings feel flat. In Japan, perhaps "darker" fairytales are the norm, and these tales would be built into the lore as-is. But if they aren't, it still makes sense to have these darker roots, because then the final "sanitized" fairytale would feel like an actual fairytale. These aren't dark and disturbing fanfics written by pokef***ers- this is how one is supposed to go about writing fairytales in fantasy settings.
It’s strange how people are quick to defend the original darker tellings of the familiar stories, and yet are completely adverse to darker retellings/reboots of lighthearted media.
@@geoffreyrichards6079 personally my issue with taking whats supposed to be light hearted media aim towards children and trying to make it adult is that it comes off as very cringe, unoriginal, and even lacks the very soul/essence that makes the original so good to begin with leaving it as a soules product that only exists to cater to a small group of adult-children who refuse to grow up and move on to more mature and original mediums of entertainment (also I want to make it clear that I have no issues with someone rewatching a show from they're childhood once in a while for the memories and such to a degree, I consider that completely different from someone demanding a more adult version of that show because at least the latter actually appreciates the show for what it is and consumes other forms of media instead of making this one show mostly aimed for families/kids they're whole personality)
The lore that Sharpedo's fins are eaten is also mentioned in Pokemon Moon Pokedex entry and therefore is not a new dropped lore that was not known before.
I honestly think the reaction to these stories is kinda overblown, like yes they are disturbing but these most likely world building exercises meant to put the writers in the mind set of people inside the world, to think up of folklore and myths the people living with these very strange and powerful beings would come up with. And even then, they're one non canon and two they're framed as myths and folklore and while every myth has a kernel of truth most of the details are exaggerated as the story is passed down.
@@mmecharlotte yeah a lot of children's stories have ben sanitized, i think whether thats good or bad is just an opinion but i cant help but kinda like the fact i read a lot of mythology and unabridged fairytales when i was younger
Another interesting thing to consider is that even if these were ever intended to be "canon" that stories like the Typhlosion story, Ursaring story, Octillery story, etc. would almost certainly have been meant to be in-universe myths meant to impart lessons, like their real world counterparts, and not factual/literal retellings of events that actually happened. Legends exist in our world which attribute supernatural attributes to regular animals - Tanuki/kitsune talking, transforming, and ofc, hooking up with humans. These obviously never happened, and I imagine that these myths are meant to be read in the same way.
Yes these stories were pretty much taken from mythologies, so they would be treated like folk lore, and the stories do make it a point that the line between human and pokemon was still blurred when they happened.
The infamous Typhlosion story that's being thrown online around was apparently mistranslated and that isn't what it actually says in Japanese as it was machine translated. No, the species of Typhlosion isn't like P. Diddy at all and instead this whole story that was written is nothing more than a rough draft version of a small snippet of the lore for Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl that was written more than ten to fifteen years ago. I still think the Typhlosion is weird but it was inspired by Japanese folklore and mythology which like with all folklore and mythology around the world contains very bizarre elements. Typhlosion itself was possibly inspired by a Japanese yokai (supernatural monster or spirit in Japanese folklore and mythology) known as the "Mujina" which is described as a shapeshifting being that resembles a badger which in the rough draft lore it clearly demonstrates these abilities.
Seems Gamefreak where very adamant in pushing this idea that Pokemon and humans were one in the same to the point of procreating, so much so that they still technically made it canon within the games. As strange as some of the subject matter is within these stories/folklore tales, I have to commend them for at least attempting to do something more mature with the franchise. This also validates the claims that the Adventures manga, (which is a generally more mature take on the pokemon universe) was close if not entirely the originally intended vision of the pokemon world.
What surprise me more is that people are surprise of the leaked. Like have you not been exposed to manga, anime, hentai, eroge, and Japanese ghost stories? Like they don’t play around when it come to their story telling.
put yourself in their perspective. a game, of which they have been playing since being children, one they consider a safe space mind you, be suddenly thrust to the depths of horror such as this. wouldnt it be even a little surprising?
@@hajebde8282 Not really. Stuff like these were sprinkled in the older games albeit a bit more subtle. Just check the Pokedex entries for ghost-type Pokemons. Most of them have horrific implications in them like the one for Yamask. Then there's Mewtwo being a product of a horrible gene-splicing experiment. And then Lt. Surge mention of a war were Pokemons were used as weapons. Even the stuff about humans marrying Pokemons were already in the library in the Diamond and Pearl versions. So I think it's the people who didn't play older the Pokemon games (or only knew Pokemon from pop culture exposure) were surprised of these stuff. For us older players, it's a bit on brand for Pokemon games.
@@hajebde8282 I mean Disney has a porn vault of their characters, there is a lot of horrifying stuff, however none of it is meant to be canon, the reason companies have these things is because of contracts where anything employees make falls under ownership of of the company. As other people have mentioned as well, this kind of stuff has always been sprinkled into the games, however not as graphic, and the stories are pretty much your typical stories from mythology.
The first one is even more scary because it already happens with real life sharks today around the world. Literally the same story word by word. Watch the documentary titled "Racing Extinction" and "Before the Flood".
Well, I think there was also things like employee information, so it’s more malicious than just trolling Nintendo by releasing their secret non-canon lore.
Fun fact: In Pokémon colosseum a lady says her life long boyfriend is a mightyena, and in let’s go a guy says he wants to give his girlfriend a water stone but he is afraid she will evolve and in the best wishes anime it shows a guy marrying his gothitelle. So yeah human Pokémon relationships are legal in canon, and in the sun and moon demo a lady was waiting for her boyfriend for days and then on the last day a machamp shows up. And a mission in Legends Arceus confirmed that a guy married and had kids with a Froslass. Theory: I have a theory that pokemon human relationships are probably legalized in places like Kanto but are illegal in places like sinnoh, that would explain why we see npc’s say they are dating a Pokémon in places like kanto, but not in places like sinnoh.
The typhlosion story only makes sense to me if the typhlosion was the type that appeared in legends arceus as hypnosis like that doesn't make sense with the classic typhlosion
You describe it as corrupting childhood innocence. But honestly, it’s not as innocent as you might believe. Children can be monsters themselves, and their naivety is often the reason for them committing such atrocities.
People gaslight themselves into thinking children are innocent mystical beings incapable of doing wrong and who should be sheltered from what society deems as unacceptable for them to know. Yet those with good enough memory remember how it was either other children, or themselves, who brought that undesired world of malice upon their peers.
If a child does bad things it’s an outlier. Children and animals are shown to be naturally altruistic and caring. So yes children are innocent because if we judged the whole of a group based off the acts of the negative few every instance discrimination in the adult world would be okay
@@Sandman10032 Chimpanzees are so altruistic and caring they do even other chimpanzees the favor for releasing their facial bones from the prison of skin and muscle. Cats are so altruistic and caring they make sure rival cats feel no itchy skin by scratching real hard until red comes out. Wolves are so altruistic and caring packs avoid entering neighbor pack territories and save them the bother of fighting to the bitter end. If you really believe animals are altruistic and caring, you live in dreamland.
The idea that there is "disturbing" lore hidden in a game about beating animals into submission and making them fight each other is absolutely hilarious.
There's more disturbing lore than this apparently. But I don't know where to find it. Reddit is useless because it's either the Typhlosion and Octillery stories. Or concept art and sprite leaks.

I don’t know why people make such a big deal with this. It is clearly just a writing exercise. Wasn’t meant to be seen or anything clearly just a writing experiment. Not their fault someone stole it out of their virtually trash can. Also different cultures have different legends and stories. If you read OLD Japanese mythology you see tons of stories like this. It is clear they just tried inserting Pokemon into such stories as a writing experiment. Not to mention this is just a translation. It is HIGHLY likely that some of the details are incorrect. Stop hating on Gamefreak for such a stupid reason. They didn’t intend for it to be seriously part of the lore. Not there fault leakers dug up there trash!
This is such a shame that those lore stories from pokemon world were scraped. They would definitely make really good addition to the games/anime, and a lot of players would like those kind of stories.
@sarpsomer-4d chess move by Pokemon to gradually make their fantasies as cannon🤔 There is no reason Tsareena and Meowscarada need to look the way they do in a 'natural' habitat
@@christianmathew398 I'm pretty sure theyr fantasies have been considered low key cannon since day one (or at least since whichever game was the first to state that pokemon and humans screwed each other alot before getting censored lol)
I genuinely love these stories, they're just so surreal and weirdly creepy It vaguely reminds me of playing a japanese ROM of pokemon white as a kid and only barely comprehending what was going on
Yes but these were also based on mythological folklore which was probably created to explain disabilities and why some people "looked like monsters". Most people seem to not even think of that A good example was an old mountain tale in the southern states in the 70s (I think, but it was more in recent years), where there were stories of a ghost that walked the road at night and was horribly disfigured It turned out to be a man disfigured by the war or an accident which left his face horribly disfigured and he walked around at night because if he walked around during the day he was made fun of and scared people It turned out those stories were people who witnessed a very REAL person, and not a ghost And simply couldn't comprehend they were seeing an actual person So instead they slapped the label "ghost", "monster" etc on what they saw because they couldn't compute a person could be disfigured to such a degree and survive Look at stories about werewolves They were most likelt started because of people with the disease that causes hair growth all over the body and face So lots of stories about hybrid people, living in mountains/the wilderness etc are literally hypothesized to just be because disabled/disfigured people lived isolated lives banished from society and just so happened to be spotted by someone who didn't understand/couldn't understand/didn't know any better
It depends on the culture. For example people from China won't find anything disturbing here. On other hand certain countries in the world will be very disturbed with what kind of stuff they are promoting in american corporations.
Personally I'm kind of disappointed we never got to see a lot of this lore presented in game. It adds so much to the universe and having an in-universe mythology that matches our own goes pretty hard. Especially the typhlosion story given how often stuff like this occurs within various stories from around the world be them mythology or even urban legends
I hate the over reaction about the typhlosion story it is not as bad as you think the girl is an adult (the translation works best in Spanish because English translates Japans Young-Woman as girl, also people use girl IRL when talking about a woman their age but I guess this gen is very soft with wording). Her child spawns in mer seconds and is supposed to symbolize the bond, making them the link between humans and pokemon. The Typhlosion tries to avoid conflict and in the end has to protect himself from herself but she doesn't want him to attack her father so he lets himself gets killed. At last the humans cut their ties to humanity which is why those 2 are teased to become Typhlosions. The story is tame like seriously. The story was ai translated at first before getting translated from Japanese to Spanish by Spanish speakers. People lose their mind because: Girl = underage (no it doesn't) Baby = sex (learn biology, a baby doesn't spawn in an instant) Now we come to the last part if you are mad, you didn't read or comprehend it, if so you are not worth my time and this is not worth your time, go touch grass.
To me these all just sound like lovely fables :) These are my own quick analyses of each story: -The first story is kind of like a rebirthing story where all the bad is lifted from the world after the sun and the moon or their gods swap places. The separation of two different communities driven by different ideals makes this sound like the ideals of the past and the present were combined in the rebirthed version of the world (the new world wasn't at harmony with nature and the old world was, however they had different views of their versions of the world). -Thes second might be about common ancestry (that is since forgotten) seeing as all the other villagers made fun of her and then she turned into one and ran away. It could also be seen as a stranger danger story, but given other stuff mentioned I think it's unlikely. If I had to guess it could also be something to do with ancestral memory given the fire thing and its similarities to the first story. -This is definitely something about karma. The part about the Octillery could be likened to an Amabie, but given the story that wouldn't make sense unless this story and the first were connected. Also Teddiursa appearing could be to do with prophecy. I'm not really sure what to make of some parts of this. -Mother gives birth to a child of that's half a species that everyone hates so the villagers hate it and kill it but then the mother goes away and then acceptance is learned. I'm not really sure what to make of this one to be honest. It's kind of like a reverse river baby story but in this case the mother was doing evil things before receiving the baby. I honestly think it would have been really cool to see depth like this in Pokémon games, and it would have made for some really cool lore :)
Almost made it in though is a really big claim to make about these stories when they are easily just world building concepts being thrown around by developers just to get started. There's even some similarities to the folklore we got in Gen 4. At the end of the day I don't think any of this is surprising to see early ideas take actual Japanese folklore and Yokai stories but replace with Pokemon since we already have known that they have inspired Pokemon for a while. With these leaks we've seen some more realistic scary early drawings of Pokemon we already have like cacturne which shows how much Pokemon is tamed down from initial ideas in order to make them appropriate for kids.

Honestly it's interesting. As a pokemon fan since childhood and a pagan, i appreciate the nature of these stories. Mixing ancient styling with non Christian style demonology perhaps. Its disturbing in some cases but its unreleased world building. I would have to extend certain levels of mitigation in that these were internal memo type stuff that was not canon but aided in grounding tones and make the myth feel authentic
While all these stories are incredibly strange. The only one that I think is really bad is the Typhlosion one. Sense it really does sound like Typhlosion assaulted someone. But apparently these stories are slightly mistranslated, the girl in the story is actually a young woman, and the baby that pops into existence is supposed to represent the bond the woman has with the Typhlosion. So it isn’t as bad when all of that is taken into account. Still I hate the idea of Pokémon and people at some point marrying each other. Even if it is just folktales.
All right, so this turned into an essay. Totally understand people who run away from my comment: I think it's important to remember that the games all but imply that humans ARE evolved Pokémon. I don't mean "evolve" in the sense of Pokémon evolution. I mean Darwinian evolution, where species adapt over time to an environment over the course of several - sometimes thousands - of generations. In a universe where Pokémon species of different types and body shapes can breed fairly freely, why WOULDN'T that mean ancient humans - as a distinct Pokémon species themselves - also interbred with other species of Pokémon? I'm not saying that this worldbuilding justifies "pokéfilia" in the present time. Humans, like in our world, eventually became much more mentally and physically advanced than other creatures, and could manipulate the environment. Communication with Pokémon became severed, outside of a few rare cases with ancient Pokémon or hyper-intelligent clones. Pairings of humans and Pokémon nowadays would be as unethical as humans and animals in our world. -Again, this is world building. The ancient ancestors of people - who. were. Pokémon. - had children with other species. This could explain why some Pokémon are described as human-shaped; they're distant evolutionary cousins of humans, much like monkeys are to us. That's how they evolved. It explains why in the manga continuity Mewtwo is created by splicing human DNA with fragments of Mew's. We do gene splicing experiments on animals all the time in our world, and you'd better believe some scientists have gone too far with that! It could also explain why humans are able to bond with and communicate with Pokémon more than we are able with animals in our world. Imagine a world where every creature - from bugs to lions - was as intelligent as a monkey. Do you think people would be comfortable eating chickens every day if they were as smart as their toddler? Wouldn't you feel more concerned for the safety of bomb sniffing dogs if you could empathize with them as you would a person? In our world, there are plenty of legends of "missing links" to nature. Inkidu from the Epic of Gilgamesh is part human, part beast. Sasquatch is sipposedly an upright-walking ape with human like features. Plenty of stories about werewolves involve humans mating with wolves... These are legends, but they show how humans have always will have a sense of pain toward being separate from nature when we weren't before. There's a memory of a time when we were more beast than brain. It's the same in the Pokémon world. To me, these stories were born of love for this fictional world, and NOT a fetish. I'm not shaming you if that's your thing. I'm just saying that it's actually made me appreciate the behind the scenes mythology of the Pokémon world even more.
@@ivananeri-zz3zf Yup, pokemon have shown time and time again that they are smarter, having their own language, which humans can learn, and the Mystery Dungeon series has shown that they are capable of building civilizations and societies.
I disagree with people saying the typhlosion tricked her. That's how he met her to make sure she didn't feel threatened. The story clearly states she had known a long time before the child shows up. The typhlosion clearly changed the way he spoke to her not even hiding the fact at the end. They clearly cared for eachother by that time. The only bad part of that story is the fight at the end.

The story if the boy killing and maming ursaring could've been adapted into the story about a man killing pokemon with a sword until the shadow tells him iff and he repents.
I don’t think this is “cut content that didn’t make it into the games” type lore. I think this is more of world-building and context-setting for developers to work in. I’ve always wondered how these games can have be so abhorrently basic and go nowhere with the stories they tell, while at the same time seem to have such a deeply interwoven lore between games if you hyper-analyze things. The story and theory of the legendary Johto beasts perfectly encapsulate this vibe. Tower burned down, killing three Pokémon inside. The Pokémon were resurrected and brought back from death. (Theory) These Pokémon were originally Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporean but upon being resurrected, they came back changed. Turned into beasts. And that’s just something more overt. If you think of the number of Pokédex entries that are disturbing, you begin to see more similarities. I wouldn’t be surprised if these stories are exercises in creating interesting Pokémon and ultimately what we get is so watered down, the Pokémon become legendary gerbils instead lol
I thought that the typhosion drugged her with the berries. That seems more possible than the typhlosion having psychic powers because it is not a psychic Pokemon.
the typhlosion one kinda upsets me cuz "i am half typhlosion" what happened to cyndaquil and quilava?????? like not being rude but after seeing all the saucy pokemon ones were written by a female fanfic author it all made more sense, I feel like im reading the authors fetish more than actual worldbuilding
Tbh to me this just reads as your usual myths. Like, greek myths are standard school curriculum stuff, and god forbid a child reads an original version of those. I mean, Zeus SA'd people while being in a form of/possesing an animal how many times? Not saying this is an okay thing for a child's game, but writing a myth like that and rewriting it to be child friendly is significantly easier than going the other way around.
Conspiracy theory: Game Freak, leaked the stories themselves so people wouldn't ask anymore for "mature" toned games targeted at long time/ now "mature" gamers. Y'all still babies XD!
Is all this stuff Canon? Maybe Pokemon wasn't meant to be for kids. Then they decided to make it for kids. That's probably the only explanation for all this
As top comment described, What's kid friendly in Japan, isn't the same for the West, cultural differences don't make this unacceptable for kids, just Western Kids. Also, the west acts like Kids can't handle horror or existential concepts, yet shows like "The Adventures of Mark Twain", a show for kids, did not shy away from existential dread and concepts of one's life being essentially meaningless. That show respected children's intellect, didn't act like they are dumb and can't handle such ideals.

Its like people have never read mythology before lol
The reaction from Sacrow is pretty tame
@@mmecharlotte yeah a lot of children's stories have ben sanitized, i think whether thats good or bad is just an opinion but i cant help but kinda like the fact i read a lot of mythology and unabridged fairytales when i was younger
Would be nice if that amounted to an actual substantial story in the games though...
@@highlightermarca-texto3281 I mean its folklore, folklore is rather important in some of the games
They really don't like Ursaring...
Ninetails is literally a yokai called kitsune. Japan has some dark mythology so idk why everyone is surprised.
Typhlosion is meant to be like Godzilla, no?
Poor octillery it may be a living war crime but what happened to it was wrong
Even Western myth. Sleipnir has two fathers and Loki didn't consent at all to be the mom.

@@hajebde8282 I mean Disney has a porn vault of their characters, there is a lot of horrifying stuff, however none of it is meant to be canon, the reason companies have these things is because of contracts where anything employees make falls under ownership of of the company. slowpoke tails are eaten in canon, closest thing to the sharknado story

The irony that I got an Ad for the Pokémon TCG, before this video, is wild.
The typhlosion story only makes sense to me if the typhlosion was the type that appeared in legends arceus as hypnosis like that doesn't make sense with the classic typhlosion
It supposedly is the Hisuian Typhlosion
Children are also scientifically shown to naturally develop the ability to lie manipulate before the age of 4. Just saying lol.

Hey guys, do you know in terms of mal-
Yes but these were also based on mythological folklore which was probably created to explain disabilities and why some people "looked like monsters". Most people seem to not even think of that
A good example was an old mountain tale in the southern states in the 70s (I think, but it was more in recent years), where there were stories of a ghost that walked the road at night and was horribly disfigured
It turned out to be a man disfigured by the war or an accident which left his face horribly disfigured and he walked around at night because if he walked around during the day he was made fun of and scared people
It turned out those stories were people who witnessed a very REAL person, and not a ghost
And simply couldn't comprehend they were seeing an actual person
So instead they slapped the label "ghost", "monster" etc on what they saw because they couldn't compute a person could be disfigured to such a degree and survive
Look at stories about werewolves
They were most likelt started because of people with the disease that causes hair growth all over the body and face
So lots of stories about hybrid people, living in mountains/the wilderness etc are literally hypothesized to just be because disabled/disfigured people lived isolated lives banished from society and just so happened to be spotted by someone who didn't understand/couldn't understand/didn't know any better
It depends on the culture. For example people from China won't find anything disturbing here. On other hand certain countries in the world will be very disturbed with what kind of stuff they are promoting in american corporations.
why did he toss the octillary back into the ocean? Why not just take it home?

People lose their mind because:
Girl = underage (no it doesn't)
Baby = sex (learn biology, a baby doesn't spawn in an instant)
Now we come to the last part if you are mad, you didn't read or comprehend it, if so you are not worth my time and this is not worth your time, go touch grass.
I didn’t want to see for myself after looking at everyone’s reaction but I’m glad I was able to catch your video to finally understand
To me these all just sound like lovely fables :)
These are my own quick analyses of each story:
-The first story is kind of like a rebirthing story where all the bad is lifted from the world after the sun and the moon or their gods swap places.
Also keep in mind that real mythologies are also sometimes often, if not more disturbing.

2:44 basically an abduction story
Totally understand people who run away from my comment:
I think it's important to remember that the games all but imply that humans ARE evolved Pokémon.
My guy pokemon are smarter then real life animals they are not the same
@@ivananeri-zz3zf Yup, pokemon have shown time and time again that they are smarter, having their own language, which humans can learn, and the Mystery Dungeon series has shown that they are capable of building civilizations and societies.

The repetition in the first story confused me so much i had to rewind and listen to it again twice lol
