    Welcome to the third episode of the new series Egoist Psychoanalysis!
    This one is all about analyzing the spook of authority in school and career education. I analyze the way we are taught to fulfill social demands through illusions with the help of Max Stirner (of course!), Sigmund Freud, Jacques, Anna Freud and Melanie Klein.

    I wonder, what do you think of narcissism from an egoist perspective? The textbook definition of it is generally lack of empathy and manipulating people for their own benefit. But I see the term being overused, especially on the internet, by armchair psychologists as generally being anyone who is self-centered/self-concerned.

      @@ColdCalculatedNihilist Hmmm...... I guess so, there are different levels of empathy that people can experience, and a certain willingness to manipulate people emotionally, mentally, or even financially for their benefit, what ever that benefit might be. I have heard from other people that narcissists are "empty" on the inside, and derive some sort of fulfillment from the praise, adoration, and even service of others, and will go to great lengths to manipulate such things out of people, and get rid of those that no longer serve this use. I personally think that there is a very fine line between weather or not value in social relationships are extracted by manipulation, or are mutually exchanged, as well as cutting of relations if they become detrimental, versus extracting value out of someone and ditching them without providing anything in return.

      @@aprofungus417 my opinion on cluster b disorders is probably a little fringe but I am happy to add it to the longer video I am making where I respond to some comments. We would have to discuss normalcy, deviance and my video will mostly be focused on the reasons for such disorders using egoism as a way to deconstruct their validity. Idk if that would be interesting to you.

    Interesting exploration, but I would make a distinction between Authority that you are free to ignore and one that is backed by force. Sure, both are trying to control you, but not obeying power leads to suffering or death, and they know it. Beliefs backed by forced are always "more popular". Also, the agent might believe that they are free to keep their will while obeying, but they are mistaken. The longer you are dominated, the harder it becomes to escape it, and eventually you won't even try, albeit you might dream of it.

      For sure. But I think I do that indirectly in this video by framing it as a development from indoctrination to ownness.

    i’m a bit disappointed you didn’t cover the authority of a family unit. as an american being inundated with election coverage, the “family” being so valued when it’s a forced union i didn’t choose and ended up doing a lot of damage to me makes it clear to me that the family is the first encounter with authority, not schooling

    • @recurringparadox
      @recurringparadox  2 дня назад +4

      @@TheJumboBurrito well first of all disappointed is a harsh word that implies expectation and Im not sure you or anyone else ever told me which specific aspects to cover. So that is a bit unfair. But how about I make another video about that? I would be happy to make it a separate topic (The Spook of Family) altogether.

      @@recurringparadox i didn’t realize my disappointment was so important to you. but it’s true. a lot of my discussions on authority mention the family unit and my expectation has been crafted to reflect this knowledge. a critique informed by my own expectations and experience and disappointments can be a spur if you choose it to be, but i am not your supervisor. i subscribe to you because i enjoy your way with words even if some of the things you talk about can be explored further imo

      @@TheJumboBurrito well this is youtube, not a conference. So if you want analyses which are explored deeply you should probably seek out conferences or read books. Your disappointment doesnt matter to me. Thats on you. What does matter to me is expressing myself which includes the discontentment I felt with being criticized for failing to fulfill expectations I never consented to. There might be something more going on here too. Not sure. But whatever it is, we might both be best served with direct expression. Next time you have expectations, maybe you could let me know.
