I highly recommend checking out his autobiography… in addition to heavy drinking, he had a bad cocaine addiction that led some really crazy stuff that you couldn’t even make up; it’s amazing that he lived as long as he did and got his voice back because he really abused his body. He is praised by a lot of Rock as well as Country artists for his unique voice and phrasing. God blessed him, that’s for sure.
