Brother Greeks, I really liked this video. I was glad to see this depict your fraternity and chapter is such a good light! You've shown every aspect of what a fraternity should be about. Scholarship, Service and Brotherhood. I frequent greek youtube vids, and I must say that this was definitly more of what I would like to see as a representation of our Black Greek community. First Inter-Collegiate Frat 1903? Nope 1906 Ithaca, NY First on black college campus? Nope Beta Chapter 1907 First to pledge? Nope Initiates were led trembling into our midst. Odd Fellows Hall 1906 Best of the best? Check the list. Do others have their leaders and great men? Certainly, that goes without saying. What frat is the leader of the people into the 20th and 21st centuries? Majority came from the ranks of the Ice Cold Brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
It amazes me that this one person is on every Greek video commenting negatively. If you don't like something why waste so much energy watching videos or commenting.
This is my chapter and it is The Virginia State University. I am proud of the running history of my Fraternity and Alma mater. btw that's me at 4:41 probating Nov. 6, 2004.
I noticed that Frederick Douglass was named several times during this video as a member. Since he died in 1895, and A Phi A was founded in 1906, I am assuming that he must be a posthumous honorary member. But either way, you gotta respect APhiA...they were the first...unless you count Gamma Phi Fraternity that was founded in 1905 on the campus of Wilberforce University. But APhiA has stood the test of time.
You were in a club genius. If you had enough respect for them and saw them coming you'd gladly step out the way. Apparently that wasn't the case in your instance.
I'm impressed and very proud of the brothers for representing the fraternity and black fraternities so well, however, I gotta put brothers on blast! Sydney Poitier and Quincy Jones ARE NOT Alphas! This is an UNTRUTH that somehow brothers seem to hold onto! Could have used Lionel Richie instead Quincy Jones; and Paul Robeson instead of Sydney Potier. Alpha has too many great members that we DO NOT have to claim brothers who ARE NOT members of this great fraternity! So, I have to give it a B-
