I hope the 3 actors gets everything they deserve. They were fantastic and the fact that they got almost nothing from starring in one of the most influential movie is criminal
My mom and we played hooky from school and work and went and saw Blair Witch in theaters, we were the only 2 people in the theater. That movie scared the crap out of us.
Literally insanely underrated film. Respect to see someone with your platform not only shouting out the film but the most underappreciated aspect; the actors
I was 18 when it came out. It definitely was not underrated back then. I remember it being the most talked about movie since Scream. I was so excited for that dang movie. While I didn't love it, I am one of the few people I know who liked the ending. I thought it was so creepy and clever.
TBWP was among the hottest things in pop culture in late summer 1999, and then suddenly nobody wanted to admit having liked the movie. Didn’t help that many people in the intended audience judged how effective a horror movie ought to be in terms of its body count and gore, and TBWP emphasized atmosphere and tension over violence.
@@austintrousdale2397I still think it works better than Paranormal Activity. Alien Abduction : Incident in Lake County came before both and is more entertaining than both, IMO.
I remember a discussion about _The Blair Witch Project_ back in '99 on the Delta Green Mailing List, with people arguing that it had to be real, when someone cut through all the bullshit by simply saying "Do you really think the FBI would allow evidence in an active missing persons case to be released as a movie?" That shut up all the "This Is Real" arguments real quick. _Blair Witch 2_ actually had some really cool meta ideas behind it, but unfortunately they rushed everything so badly that they never took the time to figure out how to actually _execute_ any of those interesting ideas. I remember renting the DVD back when it first came out and watching it with my brother, and we could both see _something_ interesting buried in there, but it just wasn't strong enough to dig itself out of all the misguided decisions crowding around it. However, anyone claiming that it was "great all along" is looking at it through some _seriously_ rose colored glasses. Nostalgia can be comforting when indulged with restraint, but i can also easily become a trap.
I watched this movie with my sister when I was 7, neither of us understood why people said it was so scary at the time but revisiting it as an adult many years later was a totally different experience. The acting is incredible, you really do feel like these characters are losing their minds stranded out in the woods together and if you're a lore nut like me there's a ton of rewatchability. I really do hope Blumhouse does right by these actors in the next movie because their performances are so integral to why this movie is horrifying. I loved this video. I actually didn't know just how bad it was for the cast until now.

It's interesting to know what the Blair Witch project caused when this movie came out as it meant the beggining of the found footage genre, which inspired other filmmakers to make movies like Paranormal Activities.
In 2001, I was taking a film class at my community college and sitting next to a woman in her 50s. Going by your last video and this one, I had an idea and think it would be super rad if you did a deep dive/mini doc on the making of Freaks and the public/critical reaction to it, what the cast went through, the lost parts and I always wondered why everyone turned on Todd Browning so fast when he just made the first great Dracula film! I remember watching this movie, and it wasn’t scary at all! I remember everyone saying that people were leaving the theater, and even fans of horror movies said it was the scariest movie they’d ever seen. So, I watched it, and the whole movie just shows people running in the woods with the camera shaking. That’s literally the entire movie.
I watched it on opening day here in the UK,there were 3 or 4 other people watching as well. Halfway through a bloke got up and left and when I walked out to my car I got hit with motion sickness. I think that's why most people walked out of screenings and typical media hyped up the fear factor.
The guy staring at the wall didn’t scare you? That was the money shot of the movie besides the selfie-shot of the chick talking into the camera - everyone had to parody that scene when this came out, it was everywhere.
We don't them "Nothing" Blair Witch Movie Sucked👎👎 It was a complete "Rip-Off" (1980) Ruggero Deodato "Cannibal Holocaust" we owe "Ruggero Deodato" not this movie or The Directors.
I only like it from a purely nostalgic aspect. It took the country by storm and the only movie my mom ever wanted to drag me to. Younger folks won’t understand the hype behind this movie.
You need to watch the Blair Witch documentary first. It has that unmistakable feeling of a late-90s paranormal documentary and it really helps flesh out the story.
We owe them? We fucking owe them? For what? Kick starting literally the worst era in horror? Found footage is a horrible, it was a massive stain on horror for so long. And what massive franchise? 3 movies, where the first sucked balls for how boring it was, Book of Shadows was a travesty, not even worth labelling and the last 1 where they finally show you the witch but I wish they hadn't even bothered! Fuck Blair Witch!
I’d take this any day of the week over movies like “It Follows” and “Babadook”. Those ruined horror. Every movie now needs to be a statement on trauma or some other mental condition.
I rather have stuff i like and stuff I dont like. Can't have only what you wht mate. Get your head out of ur butt. That's why horror can still make good stuff and bad stuff. One of the few genres still having good hits.

Jason Blum? the jason Blum that will add AI stuff to movies? help the actors? LoL, that's a good one. Have a like
Yes that’s the one. He’s coming up in video 4 too
You’re singling him out for adding AI to movies? Everyone is going to do it, you know that, right? Cheaper and no need to deal with egos and union regulations. Hollywood did this to themselves now they gotta find a way to dig themselves out.

No one cared? It made like a ton of money and everyone saw it and loved it... Until we found it was fake.
I said that 😭
I remember watching this movie, and it wasn’t scary at all! I remember everyone saying that people were leaving the theater, and even fans of horror movies said it was the scariest movie they’d ever seen. So, I watched it, and the whole movie just shows people running in the woods with the camera shaking. That’s literally the entire movie.
I definitely don’t think it’s the scariest but atmosphere wise it’s extremely good
I watched it on opening day here in the UK,there were 3 or 4 other people watching as well.
So sad and frustrating. The actors literally shot the movie lol
I know haha so bizarre
@@reeelones Great video man, love the channel so far!
We don't them "Nothing" Blair Witch Movie Sucked👎👎 It was a complete "Rip-Off" (1980) Ruggero Deodato "Cannibal Holocaust" we owe "Ruggero Deodato" not this movie or The Directors.
Hmmm
They made horror worse, it was and will always be a boring movie.
It’s fun!
Chill
Chill
You are a man of the people, it's the worse thing to happen to horror.
:O
