    Thank you for Uploading the video content on energy modelling and daylight performance by Honeybee and Grasshopper. It helped to my research work also. Now I have encountered a problem related to Honeybee visualize. Actually, we made a model in Grasshopper and want to analyze the energy consumption by Honeybee. Now as defined in your video that if we attached the Honeybee adjacency for a separation of each building spaces. Then the visual impact is not clear shown. It means when we put of the "Preview" then the model visualization as per your video not clear shown. Kindly guide me how we can do this.

    Thank you for the videos. I started learning honeybee, ladybug with your videos and they are very helpful. I have a question. For my study, I want to simulate just one floor with 5 zones (north,west,south,east zone and core) in multistorey office building (20 floors) . I want to simulate just 10th floor but remaning floors should be there with same floor arragement and glazing ratio since they also affect energy loads for top and bottom. How I can arrange my simulation?

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  4 месяца назад

      Not sure really, you could maybe simplify the other floors into single zones(rooms). It's a simulation at the end. I will have a think about it...

    Hi Mr. Phillip, After performing a simulation using Honeybee, I expect to access the simulation results directly by opening the 'eplusout.sql' file within the 'simulation' folder, which generally houses all the energy usage data. However, when you try to open this 'eplusout.sql' file using Navicat, you notice that the contents display garbled text. What could be the reason behind this problem?

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  6 месяцев назад

      Hi I haven't tried Navicat myself but it's most likely an encoding problem. Where the SQL database is probably not the problem. The text file containing the database the code is written in a way Navicat doesn't understand.

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  6 месяцев назад

      Maybe one of these options might lead to a solution:
      Using Navicat's Encoding Options:
      Open the eplusout.sql file in Navicat.
      Look for an option related to "encoding" or "character set" in the import settings or file menu. This might vary depending on the specific Navicat version you're using.
      Try opening the file with different encodings like UTF-8 and CP1252. One of these might be the correct encoding for your file.
      Using a Text Editor with Encoding Conversion:
      Open the eplusout.sql file in a text editor that supports encoding conversion, such as Notepad++ or Sublime Text.
      Most text editors will have an "Encoding" option in the menu bar or under "File" settings.
      Look for a "Save As" option with encoding selection. Choose UTF-8 (universal encoding) as the new encoding and save the file with a new name (to avoid overwriting the original).
      Try opening the saved file in Navicat.
      Identify Encoding and Convert with External Tool (if necessary):
      If the first two methods fail, you might need to identify the original encoding of the file. Some programs show file properties that might include encoding details.
      There are online tools and standalone software for encoding conversion. Use one of these tools to convert the file to UTF-8 and then try opening it in Navicat.

    Have you found a more elegant way to assign room labels/build the model by room? i.e. if you are working on a large project with say 500 rooms, (organized by layer in rhino) it would be impractical to assign each one as you did in the beginning of the video. But they need to be imported together to use the intersect solids component. Thank you! I love your channel!

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  Год назад

      Hi Emily, good question. Yes for a 500 room hotel or hospital it would be impractical. I would probably combine first all rooms by category. You can input more the one geometry into one honeybee room component. I should make a video... :D

    • @EmilyMiller-fy9ck
      @EmilyMiller-fy9ck Год назад +1

      @@PhilippGalvanDesign does that still require connecting each of 500 breps to a room category? I connected up a work around... which adds groups of geometries into the intersect solids component in order and then pulls them from a list in that order... but this is pretty clunky and not at all foolproof. Anyway, thoughts appreciated!

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  Год назад

      No, that's what I meant, you can place a brep container with your geometries (any number of boxes with the same category) into the HB room tool. For example I have a hotel with 200 double and 100 with king-size bed rooms. One brep container for your 200 double bedrooms and one brep container for the 100 king size bedrooms.
      In reality it's probably not that simple.
      For larger projects its good to think of how to organise the script to be economically and flexible at the same time.
      For a hotel with a lot of repetition I would probably solve it floor by floor....

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  Год назад +1

      I will have a thought regarding the intersection etc...

    Hi. I just want to suggest you that you should use Open studio component instead of energyplus . In OS component you can simulate varied Air conditioning system which can throw error otherwise directly in eplus.
    Before starting this seriess you should also describe how it translates the data to OS and one can change data in OS app

      Hi Asis, thanks for the valuable insight. It seems you have already more advanced knowledge about the different components. Would be interesting to know where or how you learned the craft. I hope I get there too at some point through exploring.

    Do you know why when I change the link between HB visualize by type and mesh, for the various types (ex. walls, interior walls, ceilings ..etc.) nothing seems to change visually on the model? The model continues to just display the walls as yellow surface no matter what i do. I also can't get the red surface previews to disappear even though I've turned previews off for everything. Do you know why this might be?

    • @PhilippGalvanDesign
      @PhilippGalvanDesign  2 года назад

      If you have turned the preview of all components off you shouldn't see anything.
      How about your grasshopper viewport options? You might want to send me a grasshopper screenshot or the script so i can check what the problem is.

    Hi, I've been going through your series and really enjoying so far. I've been trying to build the model for this, and follow your steps so I can progress, but its just not playing ball, is there any way you could send me a copy of the model so I can use that to get going by myself and not spend ages trying to find where I've gone wrong?

      I your case I would look into the example files and see if they are working. If they don't then something is wrong with your installation.
      You can find the example files in the Ladybug tools installation zip file.
