well something is missing from this video and that is PUTTING !!! how can you not consider this in chosing the right ball for you ?! This absolutely key !! you can have a very soft touch and likable ball for approach and irons and unable to measure strength when putting because of the softness for example...don't forget that the putter is the most used club in the bag...so is the ball with it :)
I am a 71 year old golfer with a slow swing. The VICE Drive has a compression of 50 and it works well for me. It's a good all around golf ball from tee to green. Good putting ball!
I am a 28 handicap slow swing golfer. I spoke to the pro as to what ball to use. He recommended a wilson duo 2 piece low compression ball to give me more distance and a soft feel around the green. It worked
getting older always playing around to see which ball works best for me. I really appreciate the info in this video and it relates to what I am searching for and will now do. Thanks
I play off 16 and use taylormade speedsoft. Low compression and mid spin, however, it spins enough on approach shots and I don't pick up many big hooks like I do with a firmer ball. It also doesn't feel like I'm hitting a brick, it's soft and easy to hit. I'd highly recommend
I am a 9 and play the TM speedsoft. Great golf ball at a good price. I usually play the chrome soft, but the TM for me is just as long, just as good on all shots and less money.
Two years ago I bought and used 48 Slazenger V300’s. They were no better or worse than anything else I got them in orange which was fun. Today I am using Wilson Staff Model but I am changing again as their prices are rising.
I have said this before. You can hit the fade with 2 piece ball. But you have to alter your swing path to hit more down on the ball.Modern day golf seems to have lost a lot of the skills of the older game.John daly won open with 2 piece ball. Its good today that there are so many different type of ball.Even scratch golfers and better should use 2 piece on links courses in the wind. You play to the course with the type of ball you have. Its also a disadvantage to a lot of golfers to have to much spin at certain distances from green. Also as you have seen the 2 piece went a club further. This also means able to use higher loft club next. You should measure your distances with the 2 piece and play round to that ball.Maybe you could do this and surprise yourself that the 2 piece is better for you.Not just for high handicapers.
I don’t know, my brother in law uses cheaper 2 layer balls. He’s a pretty decent golfer, but he’s a pretty slow swinger. When he’s shooting into greens, he never gets backspin and often his ball will roll out way too far. Me on the other hand, I used tp5. When I’m hitting into a green my ball lands and rips back all the time. Last Sunday my ball left a mark almost half the ball depth into the green and still spun back 6-7ft. Yes I do swing faster then he does, but I’ll bet anything if he switched to the same ball as me, he’d start generating spin into greens, rather than his balls rolling out 25ft from the pin.
For me, as a ProV player (age 57, 3-4 hcp, high 90s SS), I prefer balls with feel and how they react off the putter. From green, then short chip shots, then short pitches. Some 2 pc can be "ok", but they may not be what feels the best for me. 2 pc can come off the faces jumpy and higher flighted because they roll up the face. Full shots all can stop for me. a 2 pc or Sir-Lynn cover ball may gain some yards but its that short game difference I go by. when it is really cold here (30s-40s) I may use a really soft ball so it is not a rock feel. Balls I like include Pro-Plus and TPX.
I am a slow swinging senior, hcp 18. I have tried every brand and compression there is, literally. I have a slight outside to in swing and find out that the best ball for me is Titleist AVX. Yes, it is an expensive ball, but I love the sound and feel…and spin. Low spin on the driver and drop and stop around the green, where my strengths is. This year I have also been playing TM SpeedSoft. It’s a good ball, but AVX is longer, sound better, feel better and spin more. That’s much more fun! Even Pro V1 is longer of the tee for me compared to soft balls such as SpeedSoft and Callaway Supersoft (short ball for me and feels like a mash mellow!). Vice believe compression is the right way to choose the right ball. Titleist know golfers use different swing speeds for different shots. Don’t listen to all the marketing. Try out what’s best for you.
I know this is gonna sound weird but bear with me. I have played a long time a very often and have played many different balls. The other day I watched a video comparing range balls and pro v 1's. It got me thinking and at our club they use Bridgestone range balls and when new they always fly true, feel soft and go plenty long. Don't tell anyone but I grabbed a new one out of my warm up bucket and played with it. I have played my 3 home courses hundreds of times and the range ball performed as good and actually better than other balls I've tried. It felt great, flew my normal distance and was very durable. I am older and a slow swinger but it was quite the eye opener...
Ok this is totally counterintuitive. To me, a high compression ball sounds like it compresses easily, so you wouldn’t need to hit it as hard/fast to get it to compress, so it should be better for slower swingers. Obviously it would then follow that a low compression ball doesn’t compress easily so takes more to compress it, making it better for those with a higher swing speed. It’s a bit like the old high vs low tolerance argument in engineering. I was wrong about that too! 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
There's no question that they are a great ball, I love the soft feel around the greens, But I will not pay the rediculous price they charge.!! So, like you, I play a better value soft cover ball.
60 year old 3 handicap with 55 years experience. Been a long driver forever. I don't want any ball with "slow" or "soft" on it. Want a long ass golf ball cheap???? Try pinnacle rush. They used to make a pinnacle gold that's was significantly longer buuuut for some reason pinnacle geniuses decided...we need a softer golf ball. Nobody of significant ability buys pinnacles to play tee to green. I play them in scrambles specifically to hit big drives and they don't disappoint. Long. Harder cover that means less spin off club face which equals more roll. Also try nitros and top flight XL. These are all "cheap" options for just long drives. Let's face it...most of you can't spin a wedge anyway.
So I’ve been golfing for 6 months, but I have a driver swing speed of 115 mph and an average iron swing speed of 95-100 mph. Do I still follow these rules when choosing a ball?
That’s a very controlled environment with the exact swing every time. You are no where near that level. What’s a 4$ ball going to do for you when you pull hook or slice your tee shot? Or when you hit behind on your 7 iron. Nothing.
This is 100% incorrect information. My Golf spy has proven through their golf ball testing that higher compression golf balls go farther for all swing speeds even slow swing speeds also high compression golf balls spin the most off of wedges. The reason why low compression golf balls go far For slower swing speeds is because they don’t spin and so people will get longer distances with their irons, but they will actually lose significant distance with their drivers look up the statistics from my Golf spy from the last couple years of ball testing. Don’t take my word for it but again this information is 100%false.
@@jessehudson3377 you are missing the point. Those test are done with robots and zero variables. Ain’t nobody watching g you tube golf videos any where near consistent enough to get that kind of a comparison of data. It doesn’t not matter if you pick a ball that has high compression and get 10 more yards off the tee if you pull your iron shot left of the green and get In trouble for example. Similarly, 10 yards is what, one less club? So 7 instead of 6, 8 rather than 7? If you aren’t consistent with all your clubs it won’t matter anyway. Unless you are a player that hits 90% fairways and 80% greens, it don’t matter. What your post tells me is you do t understand golf. But you like to look big by parading a shiny box of expensive balls and you’ve convinced yourself this is the right thing because you are susceptible to propaganda by the ball companies. Do me just one favor. Go jack a range ball. Play a round with it. You can’t tell me you’ve never crushed a range ball and thought “I hit that so good”. If you can hit good range ball shots you can hit good cheap ball shots.

@@raymondbooth3189 if the average golfer still takes 2- 3 shots after the tee shot to get on the green, what does a ball that cost 2$ more and goes 10 yards further going to do? Will 10 yards more get him on the green in 1-2 shots? Not likely.
I’ve been screaming g this for years. Most people are tricked by the ball manufacturers. I’ve always said unless your on the tour it don’t matter. Anyone that says different is blowing smoke and just refuse to admit they’ve been had. I’m a 9 HCP and I can shoot below my handicap with a range ball. I can shoot way above it with whatever premium all I have at the time. If you sit there and the be as a 15 hcp you can tell the difference you are a liar. 😂
