I'd love a video on training to ground tie!
I very much appreciated your training style, and that the horses are learning too!

Ground tying is pretty simple - my little horse Sozar one time stood for 30 minutes waiting for me to come back from chatting with my hubby, I was so surprised! The way I teach ground tying is simply dropping the lead rope, face the horse, put my hand up as a STOP and I say "STAND" in a firm voice. I take a couple steps to see if the horse starts to follow, if he does I walk back jiggle the lead to back him up, drop the lead, put my hand up "STAND STAND". I start to walk away looking back saying "STAND" firmly, if he takes a step I go back, jiggle the lead to move his feet and start the process over. As the horse STANDS, I praise as I walk away, "good boy good boy", but if he takes a step I firmly walk back, jiggle STAND. Moving his feet reminds him that I'm the herd leader and it's their natural instinct to please the herd leader so he's looking for the right answer. I may take 5 steps and if the horse stands I go back and stroke the neck, praising and loving up on him so he understands he did the right thing. You simply repeat until your horse gets it. Hope this helps. Missy

What I did was to use the Missy Wryn methods, I start off by doing the flexation exercises, then I trill the rope over his head and throw the rope over his body and around his legs, when he was able to do this with out moving, then I drop the rope in front of him and start petting his neck and without taking my hands off of him I worked my way around his whole body, then praised him. Then I would lead him in a circle, then drop the rope again and pick up each foot. This did not happen in one session, it happened over a couple of weeks. I am sure each horse is different and the timetable would be different for each horse. After a few weeks then I could leave him and get the saddle and saddle him while he was ground tied.

Hello! So, I have a quick question, So I have a arabian/paint mare and I took her on to train her, she doesn't really get how to canter while I am on her.... even when lunging she refuses to canter any advice? I mean she will do it once in awhile! But any advice would be great!
    Thank You So!

I just got in a young appendix mare, she has been backed, and I was told she lunges, but whenever I ask her to go forward on the lunge she actually tries to turn her bum in to me and does a little buck/kick. I really don't believe she has been taught to lunge, but i'm not sure how to safely discourage that behavior. Any help would be much appreciated
