- The comment section has blown up about this sneaker for years and let's just say this cleaning has been a long time coming! On Today's episode we brought in the mastermind himself to take on the Black Cat Air Jordan 4s. This cleaning tutorial will show you all of the do's and don'ts, the possible challenges and some solid results.
These might be one of the best Jordan 4s to ever release, but man they are rising in price quick! To take on this cleaning Vick relied on the Signature Shoe Cleaning Kit. For the first step as always you have to take the little elements out to give them the best clean possible. Vick relies on the air compressor to remove the surface dirt, but let us tell you that you do NOT have to have a compressor to get these results.
Once the surface dust was removed we used the pretreatment to give these sneakers a quick and effective clean. The 3 different brushes and Natural Solution work as a dynamic duo to breakdown the staining and create a lot of suds to bring the nubuck back to life. Now before you even say it... Yes he said he was putting them in the washing machine 🤯
The sneaker was fully flushed out with the laundry system plus it not smells 100X better. One thing to note is that this material didn't bleed; which tells us the quality of these is solid. They don't make them like this anymore! The final touches are to pay attention to the detail to give your sneakers the best look. Using a lint shaver is 100% optional, but it helps a lot.
Finally, even though it didn't bleed color, there was a little bit of an ashy vibe, so to recondition the materials Vick used Mink Oil. Mink Oil not only revives the nubuck, but it conditions the materials and makes them last for longer.

I have an Air Jordan 5 "Space Jam" I really wanted to restore it, but I'm going to have several problems
The leather has holes on the sides, the sole has come off and the rubbers on the midsole are already crumbling, not to mention the classic problem of the transparent parts of the sole turning mustard-colored.

Hey yo vick I've been a fan for 6-7 years, I love your work. Its the best I've seen. And I would love to give a helpful tip whenever you work on Jordan 11s. instead of using mink oil for the patent leather, use the crystal clear. Reason I say that is when you use mink oil your only bringing back the color not that shine. So I recommend using crystal clear and the buffing tool to bring back the shine, because if it makes paint look glossy then I bet it'll do wonders on patent leather. Anyway, love the video keep up the good work.

Did you try a Dry Suede Kit to erase the scruff?

I love all the videos you guys do, but I must say personally I just find it hard to believe the shoe is as dirty or worn as it’s claimed in the video but regardless it’s still a great video to show how to clean your kicks!

So if I get my black cats wet it’s not going to ruin them because of getting the suede wet, I had a pair of Travis Scott 4s and I cleaned them and they weren’t the same color ever

Is nubuck generally always safe to clean with soap and water/put in washer?
Yes! Our cleaning solution is safe to use on all kinds of materials including suede and nubuck. However, you should wash nubuck and suedes in the washing machine only if absolutely necessary.

We don't recommend normal sopa with water. However, you can use other detergents but we highly recommend dye-free detergents if using another brand.

Yes! Our cleaning solution can clean all kinds of shoes including reps. We do want to point out that suede and nubuck can be more challenging to clean. In some applications using our solution, you may see some color bleeding, transfer, or color loss.

I think I over applied the water repellent product on my yellow thunders because they are not the rich dark black color anymore, would cleaning it with the essential kit remove the excess protectant and restore the shoes dark black color?
Your best option is to clean the sneaker with the essential kit then spray them with Mink Oil to help bring the color back if its faded.

@@bornreality The Black Cat Jordan 4 has a "Nubuck Leather" not Durabuck. However, if you clean a shoe with black Durabuck, and the black material is faded, using Mink Oil will not hurt the material, and possibly will help revive the faded color still.
I cleaned my shoes with the essential kit and it successfully removed the excess protectant without any loss of the color. Basically restored the nubuck and the dark black color. I used very little cleaning solution. Have to say I’m impressed for my first time using the product. Lots of suds with no residue. No color bleeding or any of that.
Admittedly I overdid it with the water repellant, but yeah it came off nicely with a little bit of solution in water with the soft brush. Crazy how much suds come from so little solution. Would recommend

No the color did not fade at all while cleaning these.
But you would still say with Durabuck you cannot spot clean, for example just do the toebox, you really need to clean the whole shoe still? My issue with the loss of the dark black color is just on the toebox
@@bornreality Yes we recommend cleaning the whole shoe lightly. Don't spot clean just the toe box. There is always the chance of a material not drying correctly.

No it didn't fade the material.
We do want to point out that suede and nubuck can be more challenging to clean. In some applications, you may see some color bleeding, transfer, or color loss. However, if there is a slight color loss during the cleaning process then the Mink is great to condition your faded suede and leather to a certain extent.
