    Hello Mr. Shabazz. Just wanted to thank you for your excellent videos. I’m a senior citizen living on a fixed income and although I cannot really afford many of the knives you review, I always learn something from your posts. Keep up the good work!

      Well said Scott - I'm in a similar situation. There are many excellent budget knives out there for every day use if you're not a steel-snob or a collector of 'pretty things'. My first decent (cheap) knife was a Byrd Cara Cara 2 with 8cr13MoV steel which is good enough for me. A cheap sharpening system like the Lansky Turn Box keeps it nice enough to sharpen the grand-kids coloring pencils, peel apples, open packages and so on. Cara Cara 2 and Lansky = less than $60.....well worth it and will last longer than us..!!!! Here's a review you might like: ruclips.net/video/ELVidDXi4OQ/видео.html

    Thanks, think. This helped me keep my tenuous hold on sanity. I was one of those who added to their order burden after your first review (wasn't too bad a wait but well worth it). When I saw Skaha II was out, I've been tempted -- and am still tempted but only slightly. So, I'll keep my sanity and my version one....but now that you mention it, our kitchen knives can stand an upgrade! So much for sanity.

    Nick, I just received my first Skaha II & am extremely impressed with the overall action, ergonomics and it’s mere simplistic genius & love it soo. Again the action is truly unique to me (so far) compared to many customs and high end production knives that I’ve handled over the years. I would love to see the “deep carry”, wire clip anchored more distal towards the butt off the lock-side scale. So the knife could be totally concealed except for the clip itself. I’m putting another order in with my absolute favorite color in mind and I’m not sure if you had thought of this yet but the first thing that you should have addressed in improvements on North Arms Knives first iteration of the Skaha that may improve their product in a rags to riches kinda way is...... First by implementing your, “All-Mighty, RUclips, Telepathy Powers” and then to call on all “Z-Hunter” Green Fans to demand (in the most humbleness of ways) the fine gentlemen at North Arms Knives to add this glorious color to their palette selection for their finely contoured G10 scales. I’m seeing on their website a chance for a possible “Neon Green” option if there is are more requests for it which may turn out just how an original “Z-Hunter” looks sitting deployed sitting on top of its box, on that dusty shelf at 7/11 with the rays of sunlight dancing off the eye-catching, rotating, glass-display-case, as all of 7/11’s fine cutlery and high-end items that are all displayed in, for all to view as everyone stands around it, literally in, “Shock And Awe” (as military strategist, Harlan Ullman coined the term in 1996 as describing it being a tactic of pressuring an enemy to give up with little fighting 🤟).... So neon green will forever be called z-hunter green, I can imagine it now. It may take another 3-4 or 6 months but I’m going to beg for Z-Hunter Green and I can wait to show it off!! (Hmmmmm, maybe blood red wire-clip.?.?. Alright that might be pushing it a bit, I’ll stick with neon green aka: z-hunter green! )🤟😉💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

    Hey Nick, is the wire pocket clip on the skaha 2 the same as the spyderco’s? Only asking because I plan to change the silver clip to a black one as soon as I get mine. Silver clip is too blingy and attracts too much attention and as of now knife carrying isn’t quite socially acceptable where I live.

    I really want to order one but (personal opinion) the machining lines on knives like this reminds me of Soviet era tools and their "minimum to make useable" finishing techniques. I know some people love that cnc lines design but I feel it makes knives look cheaper.

    Nick, in a sad turn of events, I lost my Delica, and not in my home or something, but in public. It was there one minute and the next it was gone... Anyway, I digress. I need a new knife, the Delica was my only not-broken knife. I was going to try something different, but still similar, so I looked at the Chapparral. Then I looked at the Cutjack 3" as another, even more, budget-friendly option. Between the Chapparral and Cutjack (and maybe even the Dragonfly) which do you recommend. Which would you choose without a shadow of a doubt?

    bought the skaha 2 and it is a billed. my knife has one issue. when it drops shut in a free fall it bounces off the standoff (ONCE) and that can't be a good thing, but perhaps i'm closing it wrong although I don't see how. Perhaps the pivot is not tight enough

    I passed on the first at $170 when my most expensive knife is $125. But the house will be paid off soon so my reconsider the upgrade from using R2D2 or Cutjack Mini as EDC knife.
    Should go well with my EDC Seiko Alpinist watch, just start adding the $s for leaving the house. But if not going to carry a $185-$190 knife no need to purchase one, keeps the wait list down.

    Honest question...
    Have the R2D2 and Cutjack Mini, both jems at sub $45.
    Have the FF Gent and Kershaw M390 Dividend sub $90 also both jems.
    All blades are 3inch or under.
    What role or knife(s) replaced spending 4* more than D2 or 2* more than s35 or m390.
    I guess the real issue is the cost carry comfort curve, not that this knife is not worth it or also a jem. But as can only carry, thus keep, a limited number of knifes...
    Which knife out of the 5 listed would be your EDC? Why?
    I keep looking at cost to replace, need a different perspective, please.
    Edit... Also have the Dragonfly2 in Aus8. And several SAKs, most notable Harvester and Field Master that get used more than any folder I carry.

    I don't like the new clip. I like that it's deeper carry, but I've never been a fan of the Spyderco wire clip style (reminds me of a paper clip, just looks and feels kinda cheap and I don't think it goes well with any knife I've seen it on).
    Also,I think they made the jimping on the flipper tab a little to aggressive, it tears up your finger after a while.
    Other than that though a great knife. I probably won't get one though, because Frankly Im impatient and don't like the idea of waiting for what could be months. That said: if anybody wants to sell theirs then please hit me up (not gonna hold my breath on that one).

      I think the cammo green G10 they use isn't the best to highlight the quality. For me it was the blade...it looks like chromed plastic used in cars, so I get what your're saying. I have two of the first versions in the yellow (color discontinued) and in the natural. I would recommend the natural if you decide to get one. The pics don't do the knife justice. They're very lightweight but really strong.

    Why do US made knives cost so much? Is it all about quality? Discuss.

    • @dylanworkman5445
      @dylanworkman5445 6 лет назад

      In the end, it's because US workers have to be paid more and US companies have to exercise fair buisness practices. As a result of this, however, usa made knives are generally better designed and better made: after all, if a company spends more on labor, quality control, better design, and better tolerances become a more efficient investment than hiring more people.

      @mooseclappin11 6 лет назад +3

      This knife is actually made in Canada. Still, the same rule applies I suppose. Labor costs, high corporate tax rates, all that fun stuff.
      It's essentially why small machine shops in China and Taiwan are able to produce full titanium knives for around the same price, and why you'd be lucky to even get full G10 and VG-10 from Japanese makers for that money.

      Landrew0 it depends on the brand, but that's definitely true. My Kizer has a big "made in China" sticker on the blade out of the box, lol.

      It is about the same in Canada, but there are stricter laws about mistreating employees, and everything costs a lot more to make. That's why the Grimsmos use massive machines to do almost everything.

      Mohamed Shwesh great price for what you're getting. They could make it $200-$225 and sell every one they make.

      Considering what you’re comparing it’s a very different level in regards to quality. Hi points and budget knives don’t occupy the same market strata in their respective markets as this does.

      I think he’s referring to knives of comparable and similar standout qualities

      Like feature wise, I mean. I’m sure nick isn’t so bougie as to openly claim 170 as objectively inexpensive, but if he draws competitive comparisons to like a Norseman then yeah, compared to that it’s a lil inexpensive
