Interesting. Thank you. What are your views on Jiddu Krishnamurti? I think it was a totally different thing altogether.

From what I remember of Krishnamurti: theosophists like Leadbetter were grooming him from childhood to be recognised as a great world avatar. But when he grew up he rejected all the hype and insisted on a more humble teacher role. In that sense he was indeed a totally different thing. He did all he could to avoid culting.

The "orange people" still have a large group in Byron Bay here in Australia.
The media here back in the day were very critical of the "bagwan" with it being portrayed as a "sex -Cult" full stop...with little shown about any positive experiences within the group..
It does freak me out seeing the footage of his adoring sannyasins and their unwavering attention to his presence ....
Whereas I could listen to spiritual , esoteric and occult wisdom from Manly Hall, Alan Watts, R.A.W , Stephan Hoeller , Gordon White, and yourself et al.all day long .. i find Rajneesh too closed and perscriptive maybe..i dont know really .
Apparently he was very well read and was exceedingly smart and was interested in both eastern and western philosophies, esoteric and exoteric knowledge....
I haven't read any OSHO books ( 200 + ) .Im curious if you have read any of his stuff

I have not read his works, but I knew a number of Sannyasins in the 1970s and was impressed by what they told me of the cult. For example they had a very nice meeting place/cafe in North London I used to go to. Sometimes a cult creates a very rich atmosphere like that, one which offers real gifts to society. I value that, but never felt obliged to commit myself to the cult itself. Perhaps the distinction between enjoying yeasty bread but not wanting to eat a spoonful of yeast? You've reminded me that I had planned once to do a short series about cults - I must revisit that idea.

I’ve just finished the 2nd episode of Wild Wild Country....Holy Moley !.....so relevant to the current social milieu....some things never change, it seems. The collision of egregores so evident....also the employment of incendiary language and name calling...perhaps a form of “barbarous evocation”. In the U.S., political camps are identified by epithets such as “republitards” and “leftist snowflakes”. It’s also interesting to note - the situation in Oregon was back in 1981 ! Egregores don’t appear to be subject to evolution....perhaps stalling the natural process of growth in those adhering to the mandate ? Enter the temple at your own risk !

Yes, it is pretty amazing! About egregore evolution: I reckon it must happen as new generations enter the space, but relatively slowly. The immediate effect is that the newcomers get whipped up on the energy and simply re-charge it.
