Okay, the fact that they kept all the cheat codes and added new ones shows that the people who worked on the gameplay side of things were passionate as hell!
I mean idk, the art they used for the God portraits and the voices for the main campaign of the story both seems AI generated. But everything else looks good so far.
@@bigenson18that falls more into the art and audio design department. Aside from some wanky pathing & occasional bugs (which is normal for a beta) the gameplay is fine, even an improvement over the original
If only the new Age of Mythology voice actors were half as good as the original ones.
When you click on the UFO they make the sound of "The X Files"

4:00 Wow it actually deformed the terrain. I don't think that was ever possible to see in the original. Pretty cool.
Hekagigantes were able to terraform through their special attack. Now sure about that specific god power however.
@@kesiazezebajki1982 I have a vague memory of earthquakes being able to terraform a little bit. Probably a bit better in coasts?
@@ItzJuanG The only thing that comes to my mind is the fact that terrait can be terraformed by just placing a building on a slightly uneven terrain, so maybe once a bunch of them get destroyed by earthquake it looks unnatural. I don't recall earthquake changing the actual terrain all by itself.
Judging from the game handling all those titans, it seems that optimization is good at the very least
It 100% runs better than EE. Insane that the game looks this much better and runs better than a 10 year old version.

0:21 Chiron should be huge, in the original he looked like normal guy with a lower body of a small horse, now he and other centaurs look like very big people with lower bodies of normal horses, as it should be. And by the way, if you build the wonder while having a titan, it will make him a lot bigger.
agreed! I like the new look. also thats insane about the titan! will be looking into that when the game releases :D
@@_saw_aom In my opinion the most interesting titan is egyptian one when you have Sekhmet upgrade that gives every myth unit 20% lifesteal. I wonder how good it would be for the titan.

@@renarddubois940 would need to find the file that controls cheats. But it might be part of the .exe, I didn't see anything in the .bar files for it.

This means this is not just another remaster, the devs actually care about what they're building.
I'm so glad they added cheat codes. Had so much fun with them back in the day. Also seeing this thrilled me to no end since I hadn't even realized they were making a new version!

The ufo is from aoe3de I believe. Interesting that the chicken meteors damage terrain now

@@_saw_aom apparently, you can spawn a single ufo using the cheat "all your bases are belong to us"
Though they did remove one of the cheats, "ninjaconner" as its affects have been replaced with "devasd" and "tba" gives you a football.
And "WOLOLO" and "Titanic" are from Tale of the Dragon, the first makes priests use the AOE1 sound effect when they convert units, and the second lets titans cross water, though that has been worked into AOM:R's base features now, so is likely also not going to be in AOMR

Hot take, but I really wish the ensemble studio games never gave access to all those cheat codes. Because of them, as a kid, I always played my campaigns and skirmishes with cheats, and that made me turn out as a bad, lazy and unskilled rts gamer that struggles to bother getting gud at them as an adult due to so many other game genres avaliable.

@@_saw_aom i'm honestly still surprised by the fact that most of the old cheat codes are even in the game and with new ones on top of that and with that many titans in one map game would crash in the orginal for sure XD goes to show how much effort the team behind this game made sure to work out the issue the old game had with game crashes from too many titans XD did had one crash during my time playing the beta though but thats bout it really :/ wonder if they'll do an open beta maybe? :/probably not but meh would be cool to see happen :/
