The Rear Sway Bar does the opposite. It stiffens the rear and reduces rear end grip, to help reduce understeer. This will actually make the rear end oversteer more, not less. Having said this it’s still one of the best mods I’ve done to my GTI. These cars come loaded up from the factory with understeer.
you're absolutely correct Sir. That's why I left my factory installed front & rear sways bars on my old school 1987 Scirocco 16V and I only added Neuspeed front & rear Strut Tie Bars too stiffen the chassis flex and then I was good to go. Everything else on my Rocco are still bone stock, it's better that way. I'm not going to fuck with the Karmann Coachwork engineers factory settings.
I installed the 034 rear sway bar and the 034 Dynamic+ end links on my MK7 GTI. This was one of the first mods I did to the GTI and it positively transformed the handling. I can take turns with much more speed and confidence now. Understeer is still there but drastically diminished. Cameron I’m surprised that you reinstalled the stock end links. I definitely would not recommend using the stock links with a stiffer bar. The stock links are plastic with soft bushings and are not designed for a stiffer bar and may not hold up to the additional load. My advice to other GTI modders is when upgrading the rear sway bar spend a bit more and get the upgraded end links too, it’s definitely worth it. Peace
A thicker rear swaybar improve front end grip while reduce rear end grip. So you will oversteer more and understeer less. Will make the rear 'less planted'.
@Ben C hey bro yea sort of regret it. But I don't really have a place to work since I have to park on the streets. since my car is in the shop why not just do a full service. Soo I got him to install an after market downpipe, change new rotors. Soo all of that cost added up.
I’m about to do a sway bar upgrade as well, but I can tell you with just the ECS Tuning heavy duty rear shock mounts, and the rear stress bar it’s insanely better, even around town, the car handles 10x better!
I really look forward to seeing you build a huge channel and brand. Trying to buy a mk7.5 gti or mk 7 rn and as soon as i can im definitely getting a jet tag
Love the vids. Been upgrading my GTI over the past few months an every time I see a new vid gets me excited for my next upgrades! Did my 034 Motorsport tune, open intake, I have my motor mount comin in this week, an my exhaust next week!
@Cameron Alford. I know you sold off your gti so it been awhile. But im looking too know if you remember there being any change in the high speed straight line stability say on highways. Ofc theres the drastic improvement in cornering. But I have heard one person say that it does improve the stability at high speeds; apparantly particularly when going over rougher terrain ie:railroad tracks. That it feels a touch more confident and stable. I really want too do this mod but too me it seems like the cornering benefits would definently decrease straight line stability. Which i definently do not want ad my car is 90% highway.
Finally, first to a video Love the car and your channel Getting my golf 6 gti in december but i want some advice cameron, should i get the dsg or manual?
Hey! I know it's been a while. I'm getting one finally! Lots of mods incomming! Btw, what radio is that? It looks OEM but it does have Carplay... thanks!!
I laughed when you said lightweight.. At 1380kg it weighs the same as my old Datsun 200B station wagon with a 302 Windsor C4 9inch diff.. I just bought a mk6 love it but I'd swap 10 of them to own that Datsun again.. it hides in a garage for the last 20 years I'm told😭
I have the same 034 bar and end links on my MK7 GTI and have not experienced any noise so far. I would recommend that you check all of the associated fasteners for proper torque and pump some lube into the bar bracket grease fittings.
This video is super helpful but it's missing one important thing: The VW bolts that hold the sway bar on are torque-to-yield and cannot be reused. Anyone doing this themselves should replace all bolts. Specifically the bolts that hold the sway bar to the frame and the end links to the control arms. The bolts are designed to deform as they are tightened and will be severly weakened if they are reused. Looks like the sway bar shown in the video may have come with bolts but my H&R sway bar did not. I broke a bolt during my installation and only learned when buying a replacement that they are single use. Got a new set from VW for around $10.
Hi, friend. After watching the video on your channel, I found that you are very suitable to promote our headlight bulb. Are you interested in cooperating with us? I have contacted you on IG. Hope you can reply to me, thank you.

in my experience, installing the rear sway bar actually increases oversteer. makes the tear end more lively. i have a 25mm too.
Great for fwd
You are correct. I paused the video when he said that to go to the comments to see if anyone caught his mistake.

Seeing him get to mod his car and buy new parts for it gets me so jealous because I’m still fixing oil leaks and doing maintenance 😪😂
Yea I was collecting money for a nice clutch out of nowhere I had a major oil leak. 900 flew out of my pocket.
Saaaaaaame😅

@Ben C maybe I should make friends like you did lol.
Got my Gti jet tag couple days ago, amazing quality, I hope you guys get more recognition so you can bring out more stuff!
Got adjustable sway bars on my golf R. 66% stiffness front and 100% stiffness in the rear definitely helps reduce understeer
I bought a gti because of this dude
I’m about to do a sway bar upgrade as well, but I can tell you with just the ECS Tuning heavy duty rear shock mounts, and the rear stress bar it’s insanely better, even around town, the car handles 10x better!
Man loved these videos so much i went and bought a pearl white 2017 gti autobahn. Time to mod🤟🏻
are you supposed to torque the sway bar down when the suspension is under load? Not hanging off the lift?
I really look forward to seeing you build a huge channel and brand. Trying to buy a mk7.5 gti or mk 7 rn and as soon as i can im definitely getting a jet tag
I might put on my Volkswagen Caddy TDI
Love the vids. Been upgrading my GTI over the past few months an every time I see a new vid gets me excited for my next upgrades! Did my 034 Motorsport tune, open intake, I have my motor mount comin in this week, an my exhaust next week!

Ahahah seconde
I love ECS products, ngl
Swaybars for gocart handling on trackdays 👍
Hey! I know it's been a while. I'm getting one finally! Lots of mods incomming! Btw, what radio is that? It looks OEM but it does have Carplay... thanks!!
Love watching your vids man. Keep up the good work!
New CS shirt?

Helloo, if we upgrade just the bushing there will be any difference?
what do you guys think, is it worth it to install a better sway bar to my golf5 75bhp?:D
Did u have to fill those brackets with grease?
What's the stock sway bar size on 2018 TTS?
You should grab a w204 mercedes and mod it would be cool to watch
did you grease it?
Thank you for my next mod😅
Would u considered building a r32 golf mk5 ?
Surprised you didnt get one for your STI
Awesome video! Love your content.
Do you do public installs?
What mm was the stock bar?
Top show demais esses upgrade no GOLF GTI meu sonho de consumo esse golf 👏👏👏😍😍😍
Another banger 🙏👌
The „triple Square“ is actually called „Vielzahn“. In Germany at least.
Is it pronounced how it’s spelled?
Allen keys fit
I have had the o34 motorsport rear sway bar and dynamic + end links and after a few month it's making a annoying sound now
I have the same 034 bar and end links on my MK7 GTI and have not experienced any noise so far. I would recommend that you check all of the associated fasteners for proper torque and pump some lube into the bar bracket grease fittings.
A rear bar will make the rear lighter, which will take load off the front.
ECS LSD Diff next???
You definitly need endlinks. The stock boys will break!
I have a h@r rear swaybar and factory end links with over 30,000 miles on the install. They don't break. Mk6 gti
@@lewisberry8657 mk7 endlinks are plastic they break easily even with the oem bar. Most people go with moog or superpro end links.
If someone doesn't even know what it does how can you trust their installation

350z
Day 1 of asking for tank shirts
That exhaust has a little throat
Casually takes $3000 exhaust on and off
What?! No Unitronic sway bar? Lol
cant drive stick can you lmao
Take a look around brother
You bozo get the front sway bar too
Not on a GTI. You want rear only to reduce understeer.
Anyone else get fucked by ecs shipping? My stuff always gets pushed past when they say itll ship lol
what a waste of time....
utterly confusing video
