Yen is such a bitch 😂 I've read the books and she is the same there. Like imagine killing monster all day, risking your like constantly. And when you come home you have this ravenhaired bitch who just complains and criticize you all night. Yen would be a good friend with fun banter. Triss is just cute and kind always. Yes she is manipulative like all other witches. But she is no way better or worse than Yen in that remark
I've always felt that Triss had more of an infatuation with Geralt in the books. Looking back at the first game, it's as if she was envious of Yennefer's 'family' in Geralt and Ciri, seeking to recreate that dynamic with Alvin. Triss had ample opportunity to tell Geralt about his past, but avoided doing so, nearly lying to him in the process. Yennefer might come across as angry and harsh, but she has a lot of reasons to be. Geralt is strong enough to endure that and given the booklore, knows exactly who Yen is underneath that exterior.
Yen treats Geralt like a lapdog and people constantly tell him. Yen and Triss both did terrible things, but even Geralt himself says that he is at peace with Triss. Besides, an on and off relationship that spans 20 Odd years is not healthy. Even if Geralt can endure Yen, should he?
@@patrickrichard5948 Geralt clearly dumps her in TW2. I think that's clear choice and beyond reproach. Besides, this is sounding like your personal opinion rather than the actual story.
It’s funny, my first experience with this world and lore was the Witcher 3. I chose Triss. Yenn seemed really mean and annoying at times when I first played and imo Triss looked better lol. After I read the books and learned more about the lore and Geralt it was obvious to me why Yen is the way she is. It adds to her charm a bit. And now I always choose Yen when I play the Witcher 3. After reading the books I’m actually surprised and impressed CD Projeckt decided to make Triss a major character. In the books she was more of a supporting figure but never integral to the story. That was always Yen
almost identical to me lol, except i found yen more attractive in the game (kate beckinsale vibes). yeah triss was a lot more likeable at first glance, but like you said, once you learn more of the backstory it all makes sense why yen is how she is, and how important she is to the overarching storyline.
Well gamers are a rather different target audience than book readers. So they probably changed her (including the bright red hair) to appeal more to gamers and increase game sales
It would have been cool if CD Projekt Red made Fringilla Vigo a romantic option or even a one time lay, since Geralt literally spends more than half of one book with her.
I pick Triss personally, I just find her more likeable with a better personality. Plus and this is just my opinion but Geralt just seems happier whenever he’s around Triss at least to me lol. Plus one thing that really sticks out to me is when Ciri ask why you chose Triss and Geralt says “with yen it was fight after fight and constant arguments, with Triss it isn’t like that he feels more calm like things are the way they are suppose to be.” Obviously that wasn’t word by word. But that really stuck with me which is why I chose Triss every time.
In my opinion Geralts explanation for why he chose triss is a retcon of his character for the sake of player choice. Geralt likes a woman that's mean to him. For men like us Yen is the perfect choice
@@NoctuaOWjust because you like something, doesn’t make it healthy. Recognising this is called “growth”. It rarely happens out of choice and is usually triggered by a moment of crisis.
Yeah. Seems like Geralt likes the peace. But for me, Yennefer and Triss arw both awesome characters and both are worth it to play through the game 2 times or even more.
I always choose Yennefer. I understand if people prefer Triss, especially if they’ve been with her since Witcher 1 & 2. However, Geralt breaks up with Triss six months before the start of Witcher 3 in order to find Yen and Ciri. For me, Yen and Geralt have better chemistry and with his memory restored, I think Geralt would stay loyal to Yen. Yen being Ciri’s mother figure, and Triss being Ciri’s sister figure does also play into the fact I choose Yennefer. Being with Triss is a just a little awkward. I did find it odd we never get a chance to romance Fringilla Vigo though, considering Geralt’s affair with her in the books. I mean, Geralt barely looks Triss’ way in the books, but there was definitely some complex feelings there involving Fringilla.
I also made the "mistake" of choosing both (more like everyone 😂) the first time around. When playing with geralt in mind I always choose Yen. But as me personally I kinda naturally gravitate towards Triss. As for other characters I'd like to have the option of romancing, regardless on wether or not it makes sense for Geralt, DEFINITELY Cerys. Love her whole vibe, plus shes a badass. Also always kinda liked Yoana, the blacksmith....don't know why 😂
@@shawnamiller191 yeah. Plus, you're kinda unaware it is such a final choice at all. An if you go by quest level, there's so much time in betwen triss' and yen's quests too. But hey, that's what multiple playtrhoughs are for 😂
3:43 Dude just described the entire reason I chose Triss. Poor Yen just came out of nowhere for me, and Triss has been there from the very start. I hadn't heard of Yen until Witcher 2 and already like 2 times I confessed love for Triss in both the 1st and 2nd game haha. Its hard to just try to rekindle a romance that "doesn't exist" for me
In Witcher 1 at the end of the Potion for Triss quest(potion making tutorial part of the start of the game) it is Geralt that makes the very first romantic move on Triss and later you can choose romance or not again. Witcher 1 it really was Geralt choosing Triss as a romantic partner and not being seduced by the horny envious Triss. Witcher 2 chose the Triss romance ending of Witcher 1 locking it in as canon. So all the romance with Triss was all Geralt's choice, the only bad thing she did was omit Geralt and Yen's relationship and how she fit in until Witcher 2 when Triss had to tell him about it. Did she use him? Sure you could say that. Did she initiate it? No. Geralt unknowingly chose to be used if you want to call it being used. And she was willing to help get his memory back knowing full well what might happen. People put the full blame for the Triss and Geralt romance fully on Triss and it was all about her using him. That is not at all true. Geralt chose to get romantically involved with her throughout the game making it all his choice, she was just guilty of not telling him about his past girlfriend. Normal human behavior to not discuss a partners former lovers and doubly so if there's betrayal involved which in this case was Triss betraying Yen while Geralt not having the memories was just being a normal man looking for love. The Triss and Geralt romance in Witcher 2 was based on Geralt making the moves at the start of the first game and choosing to keep Alvin with Triss and getting the second sex card for it. Geralt hooking up with Shani in Witcher 1 was made canon in HOS but not a betrayal in Witcher 1 due to Geralt and Triss not being a couple yet... 1 roll in the hay doesn't make a relationship. It is a betrayal if you get the sex scene in the boat in HOS regardless of Triss or Yen. So regardless of the books the Triss and Geralt romance is perfectly valid in Witcher 3, it is a continuation of Geralt's choices in Witcher 1 and assuming Geralt forgave her for not telling him about Yen from the start of it. And it is book friendly, Geralt and Yen were not faithful to each other at all and more than willing to have other partners that could have been permanent if not for the wish. I go with Geralt hooked up with Triss in Witcher 1, Gave Shani a good time, Became a couple with Triss after finding Alvin then fell in love with her. But didn't rescue her in Witcher 2 which would be a good reason for the breakup. Then in Witcher 3 having forgiven her for not telling him about Yen and just going with his advances while they were apart and he had time to get over it, the love rekindled in both their hearts in Novigrad. No past betrayal/using BS making anything bad because that was already forgiven and even joked about between the two, a fresh start for their now loving each other for the right reasons. Last Wish quest gets done and the genie enforced love for Yen is gone, Geralt and Triss spend winters in his vineyard and summers in the house in Khovir. And that's book lore friendly. What I don't like In Witcher 3 is Geralt's lovey dovey comments to Yen regardless of player dialogue choices. I do not ever pick a dialogue choice that has anything to do with romantic or even just plain sexual interests when talking to Yen and yet the game has Geralt making comments as if I chose all of them and in complete disregard for hooking up with Triss. That was a huge mistake on CDPR part. All those cutscenes in Skellige with Yen should have been based on dialogue choices. Scene 1 at the funeral, did Geralt say something nice in Vizima? No, then plain hello and no compliments. No compliments chose after then no lovey dovey at the start of the party... and so on and so forth. The cutscenes and dialogue choices do not at all align if compliments and flirting choices are not made... the cutscenes clash. After The Last Wish if you choose no love the cutscenes fit except for Yen kissing Geralt and his reaction, he should have turned his head in irritation as Yen swooped in.
I picked Triss for much of the same reasons that you and others have already stated, also it kind of goes with how at the end I have my Geralt be kind of just tired of it all and ready to actually try a quiet life after spending his entire life literally going from one fight and battle to the next, even more so than most witchers do, and I feel Triss is a good match for that. Geralt even tells Ciri if you pick Triss that with Yen it was always difficult but things with Triss are easy. Though that's just my opinion and I understand why people would choose Yen.
but ingame its the opposite. if you end blood and wine having romanced yen in the main game, she settles down with geralt and they both live happily, peacefully, and far away from politics in corvo bianco whereas with triss, geralt doesnt get that
I went for Yennefer when I first played the witcher 3 without knowing the previous games or the books. Because she rocks, she's funny with her dry humour, she's powerful and arrogant, and not very nice, but she's interesting. Triss felt too sweet and smarmy and had a ridiculous haircut not really befitting a grown woman. Then I played the other games and read the books and I knew I was right :D (although I have to do a full Triss playthrough of the saga just to see what's different, but I'm definitely team Yen)
I have the same hairstyle like tris because its easier to hide it in my factory workplace with the haircap. 😂😂😂😂😂 a grown woman means a hairstyle to you?? 😂😂😂 my lord. You deserve to be taken advantage of by ppl honestly😂😂😂😂😂
I would not consider that Yennefer is a canon, especially since in the history of the Witcher there were never real feelings between them, if you carefully read the book and completed the "Last Wish" quest, then you will understand everything. Throughout the Sapkowski saga, there was artificial love between them woven from magic and the desire for gin, this is cheating for the most part and even more so because of the personality of the two characters they cannot be together, according to the books they always diverged and converged because of the magic of gin . Moreover, Geralt himself, taking advantage of his last desire, enclosed himself in it. If you rely on the full logic in detail "calling a spade a spade" in this epic of the author of the books himself and take into account the trilogy of the Witcher game, then everything falls into place, you can draw a verdict from this ..... What Geralt really experienced their feelings, their love of his life is Triss Merigold and there was no magic between them, unlike Yen, and free relations and sincerity towards her, even regardless of their age, they really loved each other. Yen seduced him with the help of magic, and Triss was always honest with him, even though sometimes she behaved like a girl. But unfortunately not everyone will understand my theory.
@@leksanuch If you really read the books carefully, you would notice that the Jinn didn´t make them fall in love. In fact, Geralt made that wish BECAUSE he loved Yennefer. It is really obvious in the books Yennefer is the love of his life, you just cannot deny that. With Triss, it wasnt even a relationship. They slept together a couple times in one of the "breaks" Geralt had with Yennefer, just one of Geralts many sidechicks. In fact, Fringilla was probably more important for him. To be honest Triss is not even a likeably character in the books. Easily manipulated, kinda manipulative herself, insecure and treacherous. In the games, she just proves that. The only game she is finally a good person/friend is the last one.
@@qMagni judging by your vision, as I said that not everyone will understand my theory, I say it again, she bewitched him with magic, if you didn’t understand, especially with her perfume, having the properties of the smell of seduction as a drug "Lilac and Gooseberry" in future books it was proven there that these perfumes have the effect of a powerful temptation. She took advantage of this to seduce Geralt, charming him with her beauty and grace, and he succumbed to the temptation, fell in love with the ears like a boy. Although he knew her only a couple of minutes, oddly enough. From the book, Yes, and Geralt had no other choice but to make his last wish and connect his fate with her in order to save her from the genie, under the influence of her spell, he did it. And once again I quote "Everything that happened between them was not real, he loved her under the influence of a spell, no matter how beautifully they described it in the book, but this is just a cheap performance so that people like you believe in this fairy tale and do not rely on logic, supposedly they loved each other for real, well, that's just ridiculous" because of the spell of the genie, he was strongly attracted to her like a magnet with both thoughts and feelings. Did you have real feelings for her? he could not even answer this question himself, he was simply drawn to her, in the book "Season of Thunder" this is proved, + her seductive perfume "Lilac and Gooseberry" also has something to do with it, this is stupid to deny, dear yenofan.
@@leksanuchu maybe read the last wish but not the 5 books leading up to the games where yen and geralt are established as parent figurs for ciri. also the idea that they are only bound by fate is even destroyed in the witcher 3 where yen questions her love and breaks the curse but nothing changes for her and geralt. its ok to choose triss but the books and even partd of the games establish yen as canon.

Team Neither here! I prefer Ciri visiting Geralt in the end. There is no other scene that shows the proud father Geralt with Ciri becoming a witcher. 🙂
I 9/10 times choose Yen because of the ending in the main story you get with either of them. Triss wants to remain in politics while Yen wants to be far removed from the politics of that world.
Before I read the books, it was a difficult choice, but I ultimately picked Yennefer because the fact that Triss knew everything about Geralt's past, knew about Yennefer, and never said anything about it all always rubbed me the wrong way. She was taking advantage of Geralt's amnesia to try and make a place for herself in his heart, and I just could not get over that. I felt like no matter how nice Triss was, I could never fully trust her. After reading the books...yeah it's Yen. It's not even a question for me anymore. I will never even consider picking Triss at any point. Yennefer is the love of Geralt's life. Pairing him together with Triss just feels wrong to me now.
After reading the books.. Triss and anyone who isn't Yennefer. Geralt and Yennefer had a toxic relationship and would have parted ways after the first breakup if it wasn't for the last wish. Some people are just incompatible, love or not.
Yennefer treats Geralt like a puppet, nobody that wants a functional relationship would choose her over Triss if they were real people without the magic, purely based on personality
I’ve played through the game multiple times so I’ve tried all outcomes. That being said my favorite romance is still with Yennefer every time. Their relationship might appear toxic to some players, but to me as a book reader I think they’re perfect for each other and truly meant to be together. It’s important to note that the first time I played Witcher 3 I hadn’t actually read the books or played the previous games, but even then the first time I saw Yen I knew she’d be the one I’d stick with for the rest of the game lol
Is it true that you can get Ciri to become Empress? I haven’t succeeded in getting that ending. Is it possible to end up with Keira Metz? I admire her practical approach to love
@@Dav1d_I yes, you can get Ciri to be empress by taking her to see Emhyr (her biological father) when you have the chance to do so. And no sadly you can’t romance Keira, she’s a one time fling only, but the good news is you can set her up with Lambert lol
Well in the Witcher 2 Geralt says tend to my wounds and tell me everything about Yen, even if it’s painful, while we don’t don’t know what is said on the way to Flotsam, it’s probably safe to say Triss leaves out some important details. However even at the end of the game, Geralt claims he’s recovered his memory and you’re still able to tell Triss, you never want to lose her again after rescuing her from the Nilfgardians
This is just a choice for the player, just like the choice between Triss and Yennefer in the third. Do not attach too much importance to this as an indication of the correct choice. The choice is still subjective. But still, according to the books, Yennefer died trying to save Geralt, which is a very significant plus for her in this choice.
@@mirrorsadge nope, it’s a misleading story thread which fools the player into believing his choices matter when in fact, it doesn’t matter what you do or say, Geralt dumps Triss in search for Yen, and seeing as I’ve never read the books, I didn’t know about the djinn or have any connection to Yen
@@DarthDainese It is worth reading at least part of the Witcher series in order to navigate the characters, relationships and the world. Reds censored a lot of things a little in relation to the books. As for the illusion of choice, those who read the books felt approximately the same way when they were left without one of the key characters in the games, until the third game, and instead of her, not even the characters of the second plan, but those at the cameo level, were inserted.
Yennefer every time. It feels so much better for me when she stays with you at the end of blood and wine vs triss. Yen is just cool with staying there, as opposed to triss wanting to go back to kovir.
My 1st exposure to the witcher was witcher 2 so i packed tirss Instantly because red heads are my type however after checking out the books i became more of a fan of yen because i loved her Chemistry with Geralt
Books, Yen. Game, Triss. I am a complete all romance person, but would love to just have more options period. I want a Shani romance where we travel to a small village and I fight off monsters and gather herbs for Shani while we build out the village and grow our life. I'd love to play out the idea of Cerys an Craite being of potential as well. I help Hjalmar fight off monsters and train warriors to defend our land. Big ceremony of me(geralt) becoming officially a Skelliger and then her husband, but not as King, but as her aid. A life where I shun everyone and seek out Philippa to right our poorly fated lives. Doing all in our power to restore ourselves to our true forms while maintaining maximum power. I think a life with any of the mages should be plausible as well as other powerful women of the witcher world. Even a life with Ciri after hundreds of years have passed and life has changed significantly. I think it would be very interesting to see all kinds of possibilities that end our story much sooner. If we chose Saskia or even one of the succubi or something.
That would be absolutely amazing to be able to have that many options and potential love interests or divergent paths we could take, I hope someone at CDPR reads these things occasionally for ideas lol.
I think the endings of Blood and Wine present the truths - Yen is there for Geralt and wants to stay with him and Triss is ‘passing by’ and has no intention of staying there with him.
Depends on the playthrough. My first ever playthrough--and mind you I have never read the books, so I had zero book knowledge back then (and still don't aside from what some of these Witcher channels talk about)--I went with Yennifer. It just seemed like the game was pushing the player in that direction, it felt like it was supposed to be the "canonical" choice, so I went with it. In subsequent playthroughs I went with Triss. So I don't really have a preference, it really does depend on what I'm in the mood to see play out in any given playthrough. I do think Triss (at least game Triss), is not a BAD choice for Geralt, and she's certainly less edgy to Geralt than Yen is, who can be outright hostile at times.
no regrets at all choosing triss. if the girl that I wished to be bound with suddenly asks me to unbind the spell that basically makes us together forever while we're looking for our adopted daughter I'd dump that any time any chance
I read the books and played the games but I will always choose triss in the end because she was with geralt at his most vulnerable moment. In the Witcher 1 he had relearn signs potions blade oils because he had amnesia basically how to fight like a Witcher again. I would have chosen yennefer if she had a good excuse on why she didn’t see him. Geralt asks yennefer why she didn’t contact him didn’t need him didn’t even want to see him and her excuse is she didn’t want to ruin the romance between him and Triss.he literally had amnesia and yennefer says that’s your excuse to Geralt.we know for a fact she would have not contacted Geralt if not for ciri. Plus Geralt was the last resort for yennefer she says it herself to geralt.Geralt would have found ciri faster if he had known first instead of yennefer using spells.heck the emperor of nilffguard could have sent an army to kare morhan if he had time in advance which he would have if not for yennefer. Vesimer would literally be alive still. At least Triss wants geralt at his lowest.
Maybe some players just find Yennefer's very direct and non sugar coating style of communication uninviting but deep inside she really does have a major soft spot that she doesn't show to everyone and must be earned. She would honestly go to great lengths for Geralt's and Ciri's well being. Many players just seem to ignore that she has layers like that.
Layers are all fine and good but the problem is in a healthy relationship you work through layers to know the person inside and then that's that. Yennenfer constantly goes in cycles where she's a bitch 90% of the time and nice when it's convenient for her to be nice. I've had a real life relationship like this, it's exhausting it's a never ending rollercoaster of constantly seeking validation constantly enduring the 90% of misery for the 10% of joy. Hoping that one day the good will outweigh the bad but it never does it will always be like this and never change. Does Yennenfer love Geralt? In her own domineering way sure. But so does Triss who doesn't put him through all that. Is being authentically kind 90% of the time a deficiency? Does it make her less sincere or deep? I don't think so, so Given both options why wouldn't you go for the one who is genuinely kind to you most of the time? People who prefer Yenn probably just like being dominated or dealing with dram because to them peace is boring.
I chose Triss both times I played in the past, this time im going for Yen, if not only for a different game ending but also hoping to get some different quests and cut scenes out of it. I also recently came across The Witcher 2 for Xbox but have not yet played, I have no PC so I cant play the first game but im hoping that changes and we get a way to play the first game on console.
Went with Triss for my first playthrough, but after hearing her dialogue after the end of B&W and seeing the ending cutscene for Yeneffer alone, something just felt really wrong. Then i went for Yeneffer in NG+ and that ending felt much more natural and complete.
There are so many interesting choices to be made in TW3: - Witcheress or empress ending for Ciri - Radovid, Dijkstra or Nilfgaard - Cerys, Hjalmar or Svanrige - Letting the kids live or saving Anna and the baron - Et cetera Yet somehow all everybody seems to care about is whom does Geralt end up with. What the hell
Radovid, Dijkstra or Nilfgaard. How is that an interesting choice? CDPR did all they could to make Nilfgaard the clear best choice. All to make the Ciri empress ending seem better. Who'd want her to rule an evil empire after all?
could olgierd beat the wild hunt ? like if Geralt disappeared or something and a saviour had to be chosen which characters could save the world from the wild hunt, im sure they would like to as they live in the world or what about the unseen elder gaunter might not as he can willingly travel between realms it seems but who else could defeat the wild hunt
I really wanted Syanna or anna henrietta to be more of a love interest, I think both characters in the blood and wine dlc had a thing for Geralt and even though you could sleep with syanna it would have been nice more of options to push a little further. On the subject of yen and triss, I do like triss more than yen personally because it was built more naturally whereas the love of Geralt and yen was the result of a wish and was artificially made not developing over time you just don't know how real the love was truly behind the last wish.
Both are awesome characters. Both can be seen as "canon". For new players, I'd suggest you to play 2 Playthroughs of the game. Yennefer and Triss are both worth it to choose but NEVER Choose both or you gave yourself a bad ending for the game that sucks the most.
It's my first playthrough right now and went with triss. I do not regret too much the decision so far. But breaking yen's heart is going to be really difficult. I'm getting into the whole thing now (books and earlier games). So when i start a new playthrough i can make a much more sensible choice. Man this game really breaks your brain haha!
Mother Nenneke hands down. But freals, Triss for personality's sake - much less aloof, more sociable. Yen reminds me of Kristen Stewart - monotone, slow-talking, and boring. On a different note, I would like to see a video on the map world (and geography) of the Witcher universe. See where Kovir is, how far that desert Ciri transported to was from where Geralt started his journey, maybe trace the major events, go over size of Brokilon, outine overall environments/geography end ecology, etc etc. I know there are some maps online however I would appreciate some context along with your knowledgeable input. Cheers!
The Witcher 2 was my introduction to the Witcher universe. When Witcher 3 was about to come out I had intended to go with Triss. She was what I knew from the last game and I liked Triss, still do. Had no idea who Yennefer was even though she was brought up on more than one occasion in the Witcher 2. So I looked at the wiki and read about Yennefer and her relationship with Geralt. I thought okay, I might give it a shot. Personally, I still love Triss but after playing the Witcher 3 no one but Yen feels right. Seeing her interact with Ciri and Geralt, I get it. I get why he would choose Yen even though for the life of me I don't understand that relationship. So I keep two save files now. One prior to going to Novigrad after all the Velen stuff. This one is for when I want to pursue Triss. I keep another save file on Skellige for when I want to pursue Yennefer. I never pursued them both at the same time by the way.
YO.. I just saw some of your witcher videos and I love it.. I consider myself as expert for witcher (mainly witcher 3 I finished it 8 times and how about others idk) and we could do like some cooperation.. like no, I don't wanna be in video I just can help you witch something if you're interested
I'm playing this game for the first time and haven't arrived at this part yet where I need to choose and it's killing me.... I've heard about this debate for years and never understood it's gravity but I can say that this is hardest decision I've ever have to make as a 29 year old gamer
Me too, in my first play through I romanced them both and Geralt ended up handcuffed to a bed and double dumped. After that all he got was strumpets. Ciri ended up dead, or lost forever in another dimension. Final scene was Geralt asleep in a bath about to get murdered by monsters. I really did bad there, felt I’d really let Geralt down
@@RushZone I’ve played it through twice since then, both times Ciri became a Witcher, which was happy. On the 3rd attempt I tried to influence Ciri into becoming Empress, even got her to meet Emhyr, but she wasn’t biting. She still wanted to be a Witcher 🤷🏻♂️
Don't know if this character is in the books as I've never read them and never will, but I would've very much liked to have had Kiera Metz have been an option.
They did good job redeeming triss in W3 after all things happen during W1 and W2 she become more kind towards geralt, my only problem with triss is she still want to be part of politics and less screen time compare to yen, meanwhile Yen she got this matured and caring mom vibes and mostly I like about her she's ready settle down with geralt, both have flaws in books but I don't really care that much, I'm almost in my 3rd playthrough and I'm gonna stick with triss for 2nd time, she just changed so much knowing her in W1 and W2, for yen it's a favorite choice specially for those know their story and wants to keep it alive.
Full send for Yen. I’m currently reading the books, and playing the game and seeing the nods to the books I’m loving. Also, idk if you’ve made a video on this, but it would be cool to see a lore friendly build for witcher 3 for Geralt. Hard finding good videos/ articles.
I feel like this is a topic that we over complicate for some reason. If you’re “roleplaying” as Geralt and trying to keep him in game, canonical to the books it’s Yen. If you play the game doing what you like best and think is “right” many guys in particular are gonna go Triss. That Istredd situation would just be a no go situation for a lot us so we kinda transfer that on to In game Geralt. Both of them have their flaws but depending on your personality, Yen’s would just be really hard to overcome for a lot of us in real life. Both are great characters though and you can understand arguments for either which is a testament to the great writing in these games
Me personally (SlingahotWaffles) would prefer Triss over Yen, but I’m not playing Waffles, I’m playing Geralt, so there’s no other choice besides Yen. Now that being said, Cerys best girl by far. I would let that woman ruin my life.
I chose Yennefer as while i was playing it seemed to be a choice that came naturally however i did appreciate all the options available :) at one point i did consider choosing neither however i was curious how the paths would play out. Not relationships per se but in relation to Iorveth (i really hope i spelt that right) I would have loved more quests with Geralt's friends in the witcher 3, doing quests where you can see characters like Iorveth would have been awesome
Yen all the way. I can see how people go for Tris, but I’ve disliked her sense the first time I read the books. Not a bad character, but her personality rubs me the wrong way
I'm going to be straight-up honest if you asked me who do I pick at the end of the day I'm going to say yennefer she was the first one that shows when I first played The Witcher 3 and you no first impressions stick and that way but I will say this I think Tris and Ian are both great in their own respective way I can see geralt having a wonderful future with either of them I think both of them are winning choice and I like them both I really do but if I absolutely had to pick I would say yen
canonically Geralt would chose Yen, they act like a married couple already and if you ignore the show Yen never does anything to harm Ciri because she sees her as the daughter she could never have. Yen and Geralt have so much history and even though they get binned by the Gin they stop caring about that whole "forced" aspect quickly. Triss does look after him once he loses his memory and I do think they have a very nice relationship but then she actively hides parts of his story since she wants him to herself. Personally I chose triss since I just like her more personally and think they have something sweet. But if we had no control over Geralt, he would chose Yen because they have a real relationship with all the ups and downs.
For the triss and yen option, they could've had it have two endings to the romance. One where at first everyone is unsure but over time come to realise their feelings And the second one be where geralt gets humiliated etc Amd the endings all depend on each dialogue choice you make
I fully accept that Yen should be the canon romance. That being said, I personally go for Triss.
Same 💯%
Replaying the game, I find the interactions w/ Triss much cuter so I'm in team Triss. Design-wise though, I'll pick Yennefer.
Yen is such a bitch 😂
I've read the books and she is the same there.
I'd take honest bitch over cute girl who's lying. Yen it is.

After 8 years we still at it.

It will surely not end soon, that is the only thing I am sure of
It’s the only real rivalry on par with Aerith or Tifa
@@FoxyChariotDialogue wise Aerith and Tifa are below Yennefer
Damn near 9
I just played through Witcher 2 and she honestly gets kinda of annoying by the end of act 1 😂😂
@@patrickrichard5948 Geralt clearly dumps her in TW2. I think that's clear choice and beyond reproach. Besides, this is sounding like your personal opinion rather than the actual story.
@@alvirarahman1559 The fact is, the game allowed us to make choice no? So opinion matters.
@@alvirarahman1559Except if the game story locked the romance, like how they did it with Final Fantasy.
This is true for everyone who read the books after they played the games. Triss is kinda fucked up lol
Well I mean triss was pretty important to witcher 1 and 2
Well gamers are a rather different target audience than book readers. So they probably changed her (including the bright red hair) to appeal more to gamers and increase game sales
It would have been cool if CD Projekt Red made Fringilla Vigo a romantic option or even a one time lay, since Geralt literally spends more than half of one book with her.
I choose couples therapy for all of them, Ciri deserves a functional family
Lol ! What a genius 😂
Totally agree! 😂
@@VentureHollygetting together with your manipulator is not growth tho? its the opposite
Yeah. Seems like Geralt likes the peace.
But for me, Yennefer and Triss arw both awesome characters and both are worth it to play through the game 2 times or even more.
@@Trathien-Who is the manipulator though?
Most of the time games give you one last choice and this one doesn't
@@shawnamiller191 yeah. Plus, you're kinda unaware it is such a final choice at all. An if you go by quest level, there's so much time in betwen triss' and yen's quests too. But hey, that's what multiple playtrhoughs are for 😂
6 months late, but dude same here cerys and yoana, them skelligan women are one of a kind😅
Its hard to just try to rekindle a romance that "doesn't exist" for me
There is something pretty ironic that in Witcher 2 neither you nor Geralt know about Yen though.
Though that's just my opinion and I understand why people would choose Yen.
but ingame its the opposite. if you end blood and wine having romanced yen in the main game, she settles down with geralt and they both live happily, peacefully, and far away from politics in corvo bianco whereas with triss, geralt doesnt get that
@@hotdog4927 Triss is very much in Corvo Bianco if you romance her.

I think Triss is a better option. I like the character more. And I guess I’m just used to seeing her in the games more then Yennifer.

Btw, good to see ya back 😎
After reading the books..
Welcome back my friend!
Long time no see ❤
Yennefer every time.
If we keep triss and yen debate up for another year or more, this gonna be "a Decade Old Debate". I love witcher community lmao :))

Every Witcher enjoyer when they saw the title of this video: “Ah shit here we go again…”
I think the endings of Blood and Wine present the truths - Yen is there for Geralt and wants to stay with him and Triss is ‘passing by’ and has no intention of staying there with him.
That's because Geralt goes north to Kovir with Triss.
@@matro2because triss dragged geralt there, against his wishes
I can see how Yen would be canon but for me its Triss always.
Who cares about "Canon" in an rpg
no regrets at all choosing triss. if the girl that I wished to be bound with suddenly asks me to unbind the spell that basically makes us together forever while we're looking for our adopted daughter I'd dump that any time any chance
😂
Hey would you be inclined to do a video on Zerrikania? Would like to know more about them
Maybe some players just find Yennefer's very direct and non sugar coating style of communication uninviting but deep inside she really does have a major soft spot that she doesn't show to everyone and must be earned.
Hey George, you ever gonna do a video on Red Miasmals? Its a really cool monster.
Will you be doing any Warhammer fantasy lore videos?
I chose Triss both times I played in the past, this time im going for Yen, if not only for a different game ending but also hoping to get some different quests and cut scenes out of it. I also recently came across The Witcher 2 for Xbox but have not yet played, I have no PC so I cant play the first game but im hoping that changes and we get a way to play the first game on console.
Triss, witcher games were my everything. Also, for other romance options, Saskia. Witcher and a dragonlady would be awesome.
Went with Triss for my first playthrough, but after hearing her dialogue after the end of B&W and seeing the ending cutscene for Yeneffer alone, something just felt really wrong. Then i went for Yeneffer in NG+ and that ending felt much more natural and complete.
There are so many interesting choices to be made in TW3:
- Witcheress or empress ending for Ciri
- Radovid, Dijkstra or Nilfgaard
- Cerys, Hjalmar or Svanrige
- Letting the kids live or saving Anna and the baron
- Et cetera
Yet somehow all everybody seems to care about is whom does Geralt end up with. What the hell
Yeah. I think it's better to wipe the whole town. Lol, they're fuc up anyway because cronse will still kill and eat children.
Radovid, Dijkstra or Nilfgaard. How is that an interesting choice? CDPR did all they could to make Nilfgaard the clear best choice. All to make the Ciri empress ending seem better. Who'd want her to rule an evil empire after all?

I really wanted Syanna or anna henrietta to be more of a love interest, I think both characters in the blood and wine dlc had a thing for Geralt and even though you could sleep with syanna it would have been nice more of options to push a little further. On the subject of yen and triss, I do like triss more than yen personally because it was built more naturally whereas the love of Geralt and yen was the result of a wish and was artificially made not developing over time you just don't know how real the love was truly behind the last wish.
I’m with you 100%. Didn’t know you an get with Syanna. Will try harder next time I play! 😂
Both are awesome characters.
Both can be seen as "canon".

Yennefer and Triss are both worth it to choose but NEVER Choose both or you gave yourself a bad ending for the game that sucks the most.
I've gone for every option in the game before. Sorry Geralt, your indecisive torment brings me great satisfaction.
Triss every single playthrough baby! fight me
Telling Yen that you don't love her anymore after the djinn quest was such a sweet moment of power that I chose Triss. Even that I truly loved Shani.
Shani was the real one
Appreciate Yen, adored Triss, ultimately infatuated by Shani 😍
Triss for Life .
I choose Ciri
It's my first playthrough right now and went with triss. I do not regret too much the decision so far. But breaking yen's heart is going to be really difficult.
I'm getting into the whole thing now (books and earlier games). So when i start a new playthrough i can make a much more sensible choice.
Man this game really breaks your brain haha!
What if you don’t choose either of them?
I wish we could romance Tomira the hot herbalist in white orchard
can you make a video about the vildkaarls?
Yes.
Team Shani
YO.. I just saw some of your witcher videos and I love it.. I consider myself as expert for witcher (mainly witcher 3 I finished it 8 times and how about others idk) and we could do like some cooperation.. like no, I don't wanna be in video I just can help you witch something if you're interested
Would like a roach romance option
Why not both?
Triss
Oh channel still alive
Book Geralt: Yen
Game Geralt: Triss
Before death Geralt is a different person than after death Geralt.
I'm playing this game for the first time and haven't arrived at this part yet where I need to choose and it's killing me.... I've heard about this debate for years and never understood it's gravity but I can say that this is hardest decision I've ever have to make as a 29 year old gamer
As an OG Witcher 1 player I always hope and try to remain loyal to my original love Shani.
Why choose?
Keira Metz is just such a babe
Ciri wanted Yennefer so i picked Yennefer.
Shani
0:52 I romanced both in my first playthrough as well 😂
Me too, in my first play through I romanced them both and Geralt ended up handcuffed to a bed and double dumped. After that all he got was strumpets.
Ciri ended up dead, or lost forever in another dimension.
Final scene was Geralt asleep in a bath about to get murdered by monsters.
I really did bad there, felt I’d really let Geralt down
@@Dav1d_I Damn you literally got the worst ending possible. 🤣 Did Nilfgaard win the war too?
@@RushZone I think so, I helped kill Radovid, which I think means Nilfgard would have won the war
@@Dav1d_I Damn literally the worst ending but the reason I asked is because I got the same ending 😂
@@RushZone I’ve played it through twice since then, both times Ciri became a Witcher, which was happy.
On the 3rd attempt I tried to influence Ciri into becoming Empress, even got her to meet Emhyr, but she wasn’t biting. She still wanted to be a Witcher 🤷🏻♂️
when will you release who is cahir part 2 it's been years since part 1
I always pick Triss i just like her
i go for all of them , geralt its hungry for that love and he can get it
Don't know if this character is in the books as I've never read them and never will, but I would've very much liked to have had Kiera Metz have been an option.
Hard finding good videos/ articles.
i just started the game this month on Nintendo switch and I like triss i never played any of the games before i did not know there was any books
Im team trish just feels natural.
Unlike yen that just feels forced
George hasn't made a video in ages, first video he makes is a war video.
This is a war video.
Triss always Triss😊
Yen all the way. I can see how people go for Tris, but I’ve disliked her sense the first time I read the books. Not a bad character, but her personality rubs me the wrong way
lambert's sloppy seconds vs istredd's sloppy seconds
Done both despite knowing geralt wouldn't go that way but just had to c it but gone have to run another play through
I'm going to be straight-up honest if you asked me who do I pick at the end of the day I'm going to say yennefer she was the first one that shows when I first played The Witcher 3 and you no first impressions stick and that way but I will say this I think Tris and Ian are both great in their own respective way I can see geralt having a wonderful future with either of them I think both of them are winning choice and I like them both I really do but if I absolutely had to pick I would say yen
I read the Books and played all the games but I c'ant choose Someone Else than Yennefer
I wanted to be the man in the relationship, so I chose Triss.
My first play through it was Yennefer. My 2nd play through was the one where they chain you up in the inn. Give me Shani!
canonically Geralt would chose Yen, they act like a married couple already and if you ignore the show Yen never does anything to harm Ciri because she sees her as the daughter she could never have.
One where at first everyone is unsure but over time come to realise their feelings
And the second one be where geralt gets humiliated etc
Amd the endings all depend on each dialogue choice you make
I went for both of them
No hard choise...
Ofc it is
Yennefer
Can someone tell me if i take the season pass will update the game to 4.0... or up ?
And the game console is working for version 4.0 and up ??
